He just today said he would pass on several ideas people posted on the livestreams for dil sinks.

And as I've said before I have no access to the livestreams. If he won't say things in writing then he might as well have not said them. But also he specifically replied to another thread, rejecting everything everyone had said in that thread.

I don't watch any of that stuff either. If it wasn't third hand info at best here. It might as well just not exist.

Agreed, just look at what we got for our efforts.

We got one of our ideas turned into a punishment and launched as a sink along with a Key Ring Bundle sale that just makes the problem worse.

I mean seriously.. how much more tone def can a studio possibly be? it's great that people offered ideas, but obviously, it was all a waste of time.

There is nothing left to accomplish here.

It's not a bad idea, but I'm not sure many people would bite at that price given Cryptic already gives the things away for free during Red Alert events...and those crop up seeming once a month.

Not only that... it seems rather restrictive.

I'd file that one under be careful what you demand. There was stink thread about where news items were being posted and how that information shouldn't require any initiative on the part of the complainant to go find. It doesn't get much more in your face, than in your face. For the rest of us; It's overkill. For the vocal types who don't want to navigate to news but expect the news; Here you go.

I don't think there's any intention to address the dilex situation. It seems anytime they throw us a bone a sale is also added to the mix so the bone has no affect. Take the recent vanity shields, the new admiralty changes and there's been phoenix events where sales have been run.

The strategy from Cryptic or PWE seems to be the monetisation of game with microtransactions, large expensive bundles or promo ships, they no longer seem bothered about the F2P model.

Why would anyone pay dil to make a foundry mission? Those took a LOT of time and energy to make decent, and that is time you aren't able to earn any dil yourself.

The Foundry was removed because it broke every single time they did a big patch to the main game--seriously, the "Known Issues" section would always mention the Foundry being temporarily unavailable. They are not going to bring back a system that buggy, and certainly not for a dil sink when it's plain the current situation isn't really a problem on the business side of things.

The Foundry is simply not ever coming back, except maybe in the event the game has a wholesale replacement of its development staff, which is highly unlikely.

Why would anyone pay dil to make a foundry mission?

I was wondering this as well. Why would it cost Dilithium to volunteer your time and work? that doesn't make sense to me.

Overall, it obviously doesn't matter though, the 3 guys that work on this game from their van in the Radio Shack parking lot don't have the time or resources to get the foundry back and in working order anyway. Think of all the simple things they 'don't have time' to do.. now think how hard it would actually be to re-incorporate the foundry in a way that actually works.

    Less then no chance. :disappointed:

There's also the fact that, increasingly players will just develop their own (often very efficient or in some cases superior upgrades of existing tools *cough*Bibber's version of the asset compiler for Red Alert 3*cough*) modding tools to fill in gaps that official ones don't cover, so a lot of those companies probably figure 'why devote time and resources to modding tools when the players will just do it themselves if they want modding badly enough?'.

It's not a bad idea, but I'm not sure many people would bite at that price given Cryptic already gives the things away for free during Red Alert events...and those crop up seeming once a month.

and doesnt the item in question (unlti tech upgrade) not use dil when applying it to said item? isnt that a selling point of the item?

The question is of which takes less -- buying these ult upgrade tokens, or doing it by way of phoenix upgrades? I think, on an upgrade weekend, it takes ~5 phoenix upgrades to take one item to MKXV, so that leaves another 45 of them (at the 200k price point) to take it from VR to UR and again to Epic. And I'll be honest, I can see it taking that many to push an item to epic, given the random nature of quality upgrades. But then we have to ask what's being accomplished other than reducing the amount of dilithium required max out equipment? Isn't that the opposite of what the game needs? This would make dilithium less valuable, given that item upgrading is one of the few things it's good for.

What the game needs is new ways to spend dilithium on things we didn't have or couldn't do before. Things like upgraded T6 versions of T2-T5 consoles, so they have passive stats. Or versions of existing consoles that aren't locked to specific ships. Or ways to reroll universal console passive stats. I'd pay good dilithium -- if the stats are right -- for T6 versions of the Projected Singularity console from the T5 D'deridex. And if the stats aren't quite right, I'd pay more dilithium to change them around to something more my taste, too. Or a version of the 31c Temporal set usable by any temporal ship, and not just the 31c ships. Or how about Aero Shuttle and T6 Aquarius Escort consoles usable by any ship? Or the ability to 'roll' new specialty affixes onto equipment? For example, in exchange for a small damage penalty, weapons could have their power cost removed (see: Romulus rep beam arrays).

These are things we don't have or can't do that don't radically alter the game balance, but open up different ways of playing than before. Slap all various unlocked summoning consoles onto a carrier, and go 'fleet' on your opponents.

I average my price to get to MK XV Epic at 40k dilithium in the long run. I assume one pack of 10 pheonix boxes for upgrading thing I make that start at mk 12. That would be things from crafting. I think I can do that with epic reputation items. At worse maybe two boxes with some left over. I think it's safe to average 40k dilithium though if enough items are done.

BTW, the problem with selling crafted items is the lack of free EC to buy it. And it being too expensive for most people to throw 10's of millions of ec at a potentially sub par item. If we made more ec available from in game trade(or more currencies. See my idea above.) that might help that which might help use up more dil. Or at least buy items that can use dill or EC to make. Someone has to spend dill at some point to make them for the exchange.
