Just been announced on twitter the issue has returned and being worked on. The portals from the Terran Empire weren't fully closed last time and Killy has got through again
I was playing and the game crashed, I go to get back into the game and the launcher updates, now I can't login to the launcher, all I get is: Unable to authenticate: Connection to the account server timed out. WTF? I was just playing the game less than a minute ago!

ah darn...just before I get today's last omega...
suddenly everything went black and couldn't get back in...maybe that containment field was problematic and omega got out.. (east Europe if that helps in anything..)

As well at 1:19 PM PST on Wed. 2/6/19 (This is still after your Emergency Maintenance - now listed as 'completed' and after downloading a Launcher update.)
Did a ipconfig /flushdns command as well - same result.
Seems like your Emergency Maintenance didn't fix the issue for everyone.
(maybe you should TRY to get a better ISP than Cogent?

Great response times from the team which is encouraging that you are monitoring your network appropriately but where is the transparency? Tribbles in the system is not transparent. Is it a real issue or a service delivery issue like client overload? Will we ever know?
noticed with the launcher update a new program file appeared, crashreporter.exe , but the program cant work as intended, when you use program to try and make a dump, it fails.
Switched to state FAILED: Wanted to open process 8088, couldn't open handle/mutex
8088 would be the PID for Startrekonline.exe (STO launcher)

got program (not the launcher) to work.... you need to RUN AS ADMIN in order for it to work.

just used program to make both a local dump, and to make a full dump which got sent to the backtrace (what ever that is). so everyone should try doing this. if the devs all of a sudden get a bunch of dump uploads that are all the same, they should take notice and it should also speed up their fixing it.

this is not the launcher I am talking about. I am talking about a program that got downloaded with the latest launcher patch. it is accessed via explorer and resides in the same directory as the launcher file (startrekonline.exe)

Okay misunderstood you sorry about that @coitusinteruptus , oh well I am going to bed, worked a 12hr day - 2AM-2PM EST was hoping to play a little guess not, just hope I get on in the morning.
Just to let you know the issue is not only with STO ALL Cryptic games are having the same issue.
i was able to get on the other criptic games only STO is giving me problems so far, and STO let me in around noon for 5 minutes then kicked me out swapping toons and wont let me back in.
well... ALMOST there... get in now but toons wont load... lol waiting before load it'll time out..."disconnecting from login server, try again later, etc,etc...."
