Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!
Quick question. I'm just back to the game after over three years away. Amon gst others I fly a Cardassian Keldon & Galor, and have been anxiously awaiting a Card faction. I was told while playing that the new Dominion faction would allow for Card characters and ships, but that doesn't seem to be the case ... Can anyone confirm that? thx

with next xpan release, cryptic will also release a cardi race option for both fed & kdf. you will need to buy from zen store. or it is also included in the big ship pack for this upcoming expansion.
keep in mind, this is only a race. only the big pack includes the T5 card ship & 3 more T6 intel cardi ships. The T6 should be up for sale in zen store when xpan releases.
Victory is Life begins a new chapter in Star Trek Online, and with it a brand new faction. For the first time, play as a Jem'Hadar, the Dominion's finest soldiers!
With the Jump-Started Careers what’s to stop someone creating a Jem’Hadar’ claim the recruitment account rewards, claim the dilithium , convert all the marks, transfer the dilithium to the main character. Delete the Jem’Hadar, create a new one repeat.
Easy way to get millions of dilithium plus EC, plus crafting items.

highly likely that the dil from the accelerated reps would be locked to fleet/rep projects only. no way to put on exchange.
I'm kind of amazed that there's not been any stooshy made of the fact that jems will more than likely be gender locked.
It is what it is. The idea that the Founders made them all male, to keep them from forming attachments that would distract from a life of battle or whatever, is a terribly heteronormative idea from a 1990's television show where the bisexuality of Mirror Universe characters existed to titillate a presumed hetero male audience. Realistically, the Jem'Hadar are going to form intimate bonds with each other regardless, and if the implications of that are far removed from what the writers on the show intended, then so what. I'm waiting for the panicky forum threads from the same people who complained about the Klingon couple in House Pegh.

What about someone who has already completed delta and temporal recruitments? Wont they be able to claim all the lvl 50+ rewards, transfer, cycle and repeat?

Unless there's an added limitation on what Jem'Hadar characters can claim. Ie. just bound items and traits (no resources or tradable commodities).

Well done getting a forth "well sorta" faction in game! Truly, I think the more unique, independent, factions this game offers, the more the fanbase for STO will grow. SO, although not a completely independent faction, a similar Romulan joint Klingon/Federation faction, is at least a step in the right direction.
That said, although in the right direction, I guess I played way too much STO in the early days, and am, unfortunately, board of the current offerings, thus haven't really played since 2014. Anyways, point being, I almost came back with this exciting new offering, the first in almost 5 years!
But then, its another half faction...ugh. I started download, the packaging (ship character skins) look great, but...I just feels hollow, to me, not having the faction stand apart, doing its own thing, goals, desires, designs, etc.
Conclusion:
If one day STO does decide to break of the current mold of Klingon OR Federation only ideology, and game play, introducing full new factions, not mini, then I will come back and try them out. However, although slightly envious of those trying STO out for the first time, I ultimately, at this time, feel it too hollow to actually play.
But Again Cryptic, way to go! I'm sure this expansion will be great for most, and took a lot of time to do. Either way, a great step forward, look forward to keeping an eye on STO, as I have, from time-to-time, in the years to come.
I really do perfer that the Faction is called The Dominion rather than Jem'Hadar. That way if/when they expand it to include Vorta (and others, though they didn't show very many species from the Gamma Quadrant in DS9, which was still very much set in the Alpha Quadrant, despite the Wormhole), it's not hindered by a Species name.
The one problem with that is we've really only seen a single species involved with the Dominion Military, that being the Jem'Hadar. The Vorta act more like administrators.
That or super-spies the likes of which James Bond would fear.... Seriously.... Eris made Sisko and Quark look like chumps and got away with it.

To claim the Delta and Temporal rewards on a non-Delta/non-Temporal character, that character must visit their faction's friendly neighborhood Temporal officer. On ESD, Qo'noS or the Romulan Flotilla. I'm betting the Jemmies won't get such an officer for that very reason. They're getting their freebies up front.
I’d be willing to bet that the Jem’Hadar do get their own Temporal Agent station where they can claim earned Delta and Time Hater awards from their account - along with their own Bridge Officer vendor and Duty Officer recruiting/grinding station. The Romulans have that much, and the Jem’Hadar are being described as a faction.

True, but if they had that, the start a level 60 Jem-claim rewards-delete-repeat cheat would be inevitable. The only real way to prevent that is not to let them claim the Delta and Temporal rewards.
Question about Jems being able to fly most ships of other factions:
Does that include T5u/T6 ships?
Probably, in fact, that's probably why the Romulans are suddenly allowed to fly T5 and 6 ships of their allies, because the Jemmies will only have a couple of ships of their own, and no (or few) Specialist ships. Saves Cryptic having to make ships.
Vorta would be the scientists indeed, and Cardassians the engineers while the Jem'Hadar are the fighters and tacticians and soldiers. I really still can't believe it will be "just" the Jem'Hadar in the new faction.

Maybe if there is enough uproar and asking for Vorta & Alien, Cryptic will cave in the last minute and add them in. If the only excuse is "it won't make sense! because story!" I would disagree with them profoundly when all factions currently in-game are literally space barbie regardless of the story making sense.

"One of the exciting features of our upcoming expansion, Victory is Life, is the addition of an all-new faction for players, The Dominion. Home to the most impressive military might in the Gamma Quadrant, The Dominion was featured prominently on-screen in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and we’re excited to finally give players the opportunity to be a part of this mighty force."
I'm having a hard time believing this it since the Dominion need help fighting the Hur'q. Yes, the Hur'q are in the Alpha quadrant now but their home is the Gamma quadrant.
Why? They were during the war and almost crushed the Federation. They 'need' help because of plot convenience and to involve the ego Federation Player to feel like good-dooer hero that eventually conquers al-- I mean peacefully compels the Dominion to submit to their new superior Fed masters. Resistance is futile... O_[°]

Probably a stupid question but I still want to know up front, will we be able to take our Jem'Hadar characters to the various battlezones (voth, kobali prime, badlands ect.)?

This we do gladly, for we are Jem'Hadar. Victory is Life!"

> Please, there will be no Dominion Faction. We are gettin' the Jem Hadar .. Odos privat Army. Nothing else.
Then how come to he devs have called it a Dominion faction multiple times and said you ‘start out as a member of the Dominion’

Same, I think the Dominion science officers should be Vorta as Jem'Hadar scientists/doctors just doesn't click with me to be honest.
