Victory is Life begins a new chapter in Star Trek Online, and with it a brand new faction. For the first time, play as a Jem'Hadar, the Dominion's finest soldiers!
At least that's a load of grinding that can be skipped
"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."
-Lord Commander Solar Macharius
This includes a fully-geared starship, shuttle, and crew of Jem’Hadar, as well as pre-completed progress in Crafting, Specializations, and Reputations
I'm not sure how to feel about that. It's like I'm playing somebody else's endgame character. To me, leveling up a new toon and inventing a backstory/theme is what I like most about this game. Hopefully, the whole Ketracel mechanic will make playing a Jem'hadar character different enough to be interesting...
With the removal of the option to subscribe is there any news on when tribble will be opened up?
As we creep closer and closer to June and playable Cardassians, is there any news when in June Victory is life going to launch and Cardassians will be able to begin to join the KDF and Federations? Not that it would be necessary for Cardassians and ViL to be launched on the same day as new captains will have a significant way to go before heading to the Gamma quadrant. Thanks.
Feels good man. I like that we can skip a ton of grinding and still be able to use faction ships. On the other hand, not really much incentive to play other factions unless you're in it for the story. I'll roll a Fed KDF Rom toon from time to time but the JH is the go to when it launches.
Ah, Odo... humble beginnings as a Station Security Chief to a Intergalatic Dominion Dictator .
Well, Dictator might be a stretch. We will see. But I did find the whole "Odo's Vanguard" thing weird. Since he never really liked the whole Genetically engineered aspect of either the Vorta or Jem'Hadar.
Ugggh. Letting completely new players jump into STO at level 60 as Jemmy without playing as any other faction, and without learning the game mechanics etc is a bad idea. Should be locked until a player as levelled a toon to 60, as well as completed the requiste R&D, Reps etc. SMH so very, very much here.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

I knew the Jem'Hadar would start at 60, but for some reason actually reading this left me a bit sad. I enjoy leveling, it's why I've maxed out the number of characters on one account and started another.

I feel the same way. I have stories and ideas in my head for every character I make, it helps me scratch a creative itch I have. I've never been a good artist and my writing skill is amateurish at best, so giving a visual representation to the characters in my head are why I play these types of games where I can create a character. And probably why i don't like games where gear becomes my look, whether I want it to or not.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it''s a bad idea. In fact, it makes absolute perfect sense. But now, I'm not sure how many Jem'Hadar I want. I figure 3, one for each career, but after that, I'll probably never make another. Unless I get another idea, of course. Which I always seem to.

I have to agree, at least with the "locking Jem'Hadar out until an account has a lvl 60 on it" feeling. Not even a 60 for both Fed and KDF, either would be okay.
I'm going to go into any high level team content very, VERY wary for a few weeks, if not months after ViL launches.
Give a Newb too much at the beginning and they become Noobs. Let new players learn before unleashing them on the general population.

This really makes me not want to play a character. I'd MUCH rather have the ability to skip to 60 be a choice you get prompted with (much like with the option to skip the tutorial). This would make running 90% of the missions pointless because the rewards wouldn't be applicable. Aside from getting achievements, is there any point?
If I wanted to just play the raid content I'd be playing my already established level 60 characters. PLEASE reconsider this or make it an option.
Especially if the Vanguard are directly overseen by Odo in creation, couldn't new Vorta be "specially bred under the careful eye of Odo"? Reference back to Sisko opening the orb of the emissary. He was writing the plot for the entire series in one sense! As writers, couldn't you give the audience what they want?
Since the writers have the power to make new lore... Why not? And PLEASE!!!! Can we work in a logical, extremely well thought out, almost plot-hole free rationale BOTH the KDF and Starfleet will give to justify presenting Dominion warriors without loyalty to the Federation or Klingon Empire with the most advanced ships either has to offer? We pushed back the space gods (Iconians) and prevented the temporal cold war from running loose. Are we so crazy they need to give us ships and we give them ships to fight off the Hurq'?
I would like lore so my role-playing can continue without the once prestigious Federation turning into the used car lot it is starting too
Here's one hoping for playable Vortas, even if as C-store unlockables. It's like being able to play a Star Destroyer commander, instead of a lowly faceless storm-trooper :-D

I guess it is natural, games often begin focusing on more & more veteran content compared to any content for new players when the player base begins dwindling & not too many new players begin playing a game.

Given the post, I don't think we'll even have access to the old storyline pre-Hurq in the Dominion faction.
I wish we had A whole separate Gamma Quadrant storyline though, but I understand that's a LOT of time.
All Jem’Hadar will also begin with all of their Skill Points and Traits already allocated, and a free retrain to allow for you to make your Jem’Hadar your own.
The details of each Jem’Hadar’s pre-completed progression will vary depending on the profession path chosen when creating your character – Engineering, Science, or Tactical.
Two questions about this:
1. Is Cryptic "BestDev" Spartan the one allocating the skill points? Because that would probably be the wise way to go.
2. Do the Jem'Hadar even have science vessels for a science profession? I didn't see any obvious ones announced.
So we will be forced to use the one free retrain token bc you are doing the stats for us? LMFAO give me a break. Well looks all my JM is gonna be good for is getting the ships unlocked and free Dil from the rep. Other then that they are 100% worthless.

We know they are getting a Vanguard Battlecruiser that hasn't been announced yet either, so I'm betting they get a science vessel too, plus the Vanguard Carrier is likely science focused too.

Does this include -100 all power levels when fighting Bajorans and a massive buff against Betazeds?

(Simply have a Vorta skin over the Jem'Hadar body and no need for the White (but no Shroud either)

We are going to still get the 32K Dil that normally comes for completing that, right? No point of skipping a Rep if I don't get the Dil rewards.
It'll be bound to fleet use only. maybe Rep use as well. <- My guess

That's what the ally ships are for.
It's progress, not completion. Even so, I do follow in the hopes that the Dil will be there when I do finish it.
