To be perfectly honest I really wouldn't mind T7 ships, and this time around I can actually be careful with which ships I pick and not get (almost) all of them like I did with the T6's.
Tier 7 ships are not a planned feature for Victory is Life.
This choice of words worries me. Not "T7 aren't a planned feature, period/in the foreseeable future" but "for ViL". I fear T7 are already planned.
Why should it worry you? In the past they've used "_____ will never happen" with regard to many things and then they happened. Once they run out of T6 boff seating arrangements the only thing they can do is go to T7. And then revamp the popular ships cheap and easy and make a lot of $$$. Maybe when T7 comes I'll finally be able to afford a T6 Connie!
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.
I also am interested in a new DS9 interior. Aside from fixing minor graphical bugs like the wormhole always being open or the displays by the shop kiosks being misaligned enough to clip through the divider, they can add more rooms like were in the show. Such as the sick bay and, of course, Odo's security office.
VictoryisLife - the Fourth Expansion to Star Trek Online, is coming to PC in June of 2018! Play as the brand new Jem'Hadar faction.
Yes Yes Yes YES!
I've been waiting to play as Jem'Hadar ever since the game launched and my patience paid off!
Some questions about how this content update will work:
Can the Jem'Hadar choose to align with Starfleet faction so that my JH playable Captain can join my fleet?
Will there be Vorta Bridge Officers?
Given that the Dominion ships are already ingame as purchasable items (lobi store/phoenix token/exchange), will this prevent Jem'Hadar captains from acquiring Dominion vessels through the C-Store or via level progression?
Will there be a kar'tarkin melee weapon?
I think Cardassians will be a later faction, as they're not part of the Dominion anymore, but an independent power nominally aligned with Starfleet.
The True Way is the only Dominion/Cardassian joint faction and I find it unlikely/improbable we'll ever be allowed to play as a hostile enemy faction.
I hope they don't go for T7, but find a way to make T6/T5U ships viable at the level cap increase content.
Since one of my characters exclusively uses a restricted ship, they won't be able to switch to a T7 if that should be implemented.
And another of my characters uses a Nicor Bioship, so they won't be able to change either.

Klingons can be Star Fleet characters, and Caitians and Ferasans are split between Federation and Klingon Empire, and Talaxians can be either faction.
I can see True Way Cardassians allying with Jem'Hadar faction, opposing in their own way with Cardasians joining the Federation. Also, there could be a possibility (at least something I'm hoping for) that the Alpha Quadrant Jem'Hadar become optional for the Klingons (a good chance considering Martok's friendship with the Alpha in the Son'a's prison). They are a good fit.
A Jem'Hadar faction? not a dominion faction? so we have a one race faction with the possibility of some limited character customisation. keep in mind that Alpha and Beta Jem'hadar were essentially a failure and the previous generation of Gamma Jem'hadar 35 years ago have probably been cast aside. It will be interesting to see how this is explained and played out.
additionally the picture of the four characters seen to come back, the left most closest to the wormhole that isn't revealed is showing a bit of shoulder guard from what looks like Klingon armor. so there is at least one other Klingon to show?

Point of interest; the True Way want Cardassia for themselves, and Cardassians have shown to be duplicitous when it suited their interest.
What probably happened is Gul Madred had a long term plan to deal with the Cardassian government and with his rival closing in, he banded together with the remaining Jem'Hadar for mutual protection and when the time is right after rebuilding to the point the Jem'Hadar are not needed, turn on them and continue to grow without their interference.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
I'm gonna need a detailed explanation as to why and how a Jem'Hadar faction is even possible when they've expressly stated they wouldn't do a Cardassian faction.
They never said a cardassian faction was impossible, only that it would be difficult.
Spoonheadville is part of the Federation now... but not as a member.

While it was never explained in the shows IIRC, the writers for DS9 have stated that the Jem'Hadar have attempted to rebel and break free from the Dominion several times in the past, and that all of these rebellions were stopped.
I could easily see them pulling that plot thread, Jem'Hadar attempting to break away from the Dominion, and go to the Alliance for help because the Alliance is really the only force that could stand up to the Dominion attempting to take them back.
any and all ideas are on the table at this time. although i find your idea has some good logic to it.

If they can at least add Cardassian's as an actual species to Fed with a c-store Hideki ship then I will forgive them for deciding on a Dominion faction instead of a Cardassian faction.
Also, there could be a possibility (at least something I'm hoping for) that the Alpha Quadrant Jem'Hadar become optional for the Klingons (a good chance considering Martok's friendship with the Alpha in the Son'a's prison). They are a good fit.
It's not just Alpha Quadrant Jem'Hadar who can be friendly, there are Gammas who also developed these personality traits. Ikat'ika was executed for refusing to kill Worf. Goran'Agar started to become more independent once he'd spent a lot of time with Bashir. Omet'iklan and Remata'Klan were somewhat friendly with Sisko. Virak'kara made friends with Dax.
I find it interesting despite all their efforts to create a completely loyal warrior race with their mastery of genetics, the Founders were still unable to remove the Jem'Hadar's basic humanity.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but I am wary of locking a playable species to a specific faction, it is like saying we have to choose that faction if we want to play as that species.
But if Starfleet was given the option of creating Gamma Jem'Hadar to equal the KDF having Alpha Jem'Hadar, then I have no problems with accepting that concept.
Truthfully though, I just don't see this happening, what I expect we get is just generic Jem'Hadar that can align with either faction depending on player choice.
That is, assuming Jem'Hadar aren't a completely independent faction in themselves.
But I can't see that happening, because it would be impractical to start building a Jem'Hadar fleet up to T5 from zero advancement.
The larger fleets might be able to do it, if they focus all their efforts to this goal, but I don't see medium level or small fleets even getting 25% of the way to this goal.
And now I am wondering, will we get a Gamma Quadrant fleet holding to build as part of the Victory is Life expansion?
If we do, I'd say it would be something like a Gamma Quadrant base or colony that we have to go to the GQ to visit.

And please reduce the slots of admiralty and doff missions, since you are making changes..
yes we don't have to use them all,
yes it's free stuff and people like them
but they take up too much of our play time.
Who doesn't have lots of alts nowadays and who can resist free stuff? That results to people spending too much time in there instead of playing STFs.. Queues are always empty.. that can't be good..new season or old season..

Let's see... Why should it worry me to have yet another tier of vessels that contribute to make the power creep even worse and make a single ship symbolically costing more than half the price of a recent AAA game and the only way to get your up-to-date hero ship with the canon skin is to buy it another time after you inevitably bought the T6 version, and probably the T5 one before.
Kira was a beloved character? I always found her to be kind of irritating, bouncing between tolerable and obnoxiously blinkered and opinionated.
Feeling of dread in the back of my mind over a sector based BZ after the (still broken) kethi bz. Hopefully they do want folk to actually play this expansion rather than pull a delta grinding and level up from queues and patrols and actually get a BZ that works properly.
Tier 7 ships are not a planned feature for Victory is Life.
I took a snip for my personal reference already!
Also, if we're starting off at level 60, will we then have to have a character at lvl 60 before we can play the new faction, or not? Also, for those concerned about us running out of factions / starting a new playable faction because there aren't any playable ships, why not make a pirate / smuggler / Maquis faction where you're a KDF / Starfleet / Romulan who's gone rogue?
That new faction could play any ship already in-game, and it could be excused away as having been a stolen vessel. If desired, a tuffli / bajoran cargo vessel could be the starting ship for them too.
Honestly though, with the new faction, I just hope that we have freedom and flexibility with its introduction. I also hope that fleets with low membership or stagnating members are given a boost. Fleets are sadly neglected nowadays
Here's to hoping we have a 10 year STO anniversary!
Alexander Siddig will reprise his role as Julian Bashir and Andrew Robinson will reprise his role as Elim Garak as per this link.
You should really get your marketing guys on the same page.
So who are the last 4to join our marry band of DSNiners?
I hope one of them is Ezri Dax. Obviously Jadzia Dax is better known (and having Terry Farrell would be awesome) but Jadzia is dead. Ezri really grew on me that last season.
Don't let them promote you. Don't let them transfer you. Don't let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there... you can make a difference.

Thank GOD!!!!!!!!! And thank you kael for the clarification..Are ENG caps gonna see some TLC cause they are basically well below everyone else in the game..
I was checking out the Lobi store to investigate a potential scenario in which no Dominion equipment was provided to a Jem'Hadar character.
If this hypothetical scenario was to be established, here is what a player would need to acquire for an authentic Dominion gameplay experience:
Then I discoveredthe major drawback, the one that caused me to use many impolite words in my mind.
In order to complete the console set, acquisition of a specific unobtainable ship is required.
So now I am hoping that all three of these ships will be purchasable in the C-Store, because it's a more cost effective/reasonable method of acquisition then opening a lot of lockboxes and grinding out a fortune in EC/or relying on the random reward chance from Dominion R&D packs.
Let's be honest here, a Jem'Hadar without Dominion ships, what will they be flying?
Based on past experience with the Romulans, they could not use Starfleet T6 ships, so I assume the Jem'Hadar will have the same restriction.

I'm going to guess that we will see some homemade designs from PWE with the lock box ship costumes being useable on the C-Store ships to make the experience more authentic. the T5 Jem'Hadar Attack Ship still goes for insane EC though and the T6 Jem'Hadar Strike Ship isn't really any cheaper. That T5 JHAS design though is probably the most desirable for a Jem'Hadar character. Expect PWE to run some more promos featuring Jem'Hadar ships of the past to sell keys and R&D packs.
> @worgaus said:
I believe the Jem'hadar start at level 60 not 65. The choice of Jem'hadar and not Dominion does seem important, it suggests independent Jem'hadar not ones in service to the Dominion.
I think it might be a faction that arises from the ashes of the New Link/True Way, which we mostly end with the New Link Changelings returning to the Dominion and many of the True Way leaders dead. What happened to the surviving Jem'hadar/Vorta/Cardassians?
That would explain the new Cardassian ship.
You're right, they're starting at 60, not 65, and with some Rep projects partially filled, not completely. The twitch stream also said players would start out as members of the Dominion. The implication of "start out" being you might have the opportunity to go some other direction(s) later.
The big problem I see is there is no way to introduce Dominion ships with the faction as they have already all been monetized.
Plenty of ways.
I fail to understand why some have tunnel vision regarding this matter.
I mean, at this point the non-canon (i.e Cryptic designed) ships in the game outnumber the canon ones. And even the canon ones have Cryptic-design skin options.
We've already seen one new design ship that will (presumably) be introduced with the expansion. I sincerely doubt that'll be the only one.
Exactly. I would actually be surprised if they merely repackaged the ships that have already been released verbatim. More than likely we'll get cosmetically and stat altered versions of those ships with different boff seating.
Here's how I see it playing out:
There'll likely be 'free', (i.e. not in the c-store), versions of each ship like they did with the Romulans, with better versions in the c-store. They probably won't have any specialist boff seats at all. That will likely be reserved for the c-store versions.
Players will probably get 1 token for one of the free versions just so they can have something basic to fly out of the gate.
There will be a Jem'Hadar c-store starter pack and a Jem'Hadar $150 bells-and-whistles c-store pack, complete with fancy uniforms, doffs, and boffs and all the shiny new Jem'Hadar c-store ships, and of course all the c-store ships will be sold individually as well.
My worry is that the classic model parts will remain locked behind the gambling box/lobi pay wall. That would be disappointing, although maybe not entirely surprising.
Hey, if we get another recruitment event, can it be for ALL factions instead of just Jem'Hadar? I hardly play my TOS because I was pretty much forced to make a character with such limited options (Only four races, despite Caitians already existing and being part of Starfleet in that time period), it would be very nice to get to play the new faction by choice, rather than feel like I was railroaded into doing it for all the benefits.
Im with you there. I spend most of my time on the KDF side and I was really annoyed to have to created a Fed char to do the AoY event. Considering there were only a handful of missions I don't see why the KDF (or Roms for that matter) could not have had their own storylines. Especially since it makes no sense when you speak to the Temporal Agent...
The T5 Jem'Hadar Attack Ship still goes for insane EC though and the T6 Jem'Hadar Strike Ship isn't really any cheaper. Expect PWE to run some more promos featuring Jem'Hadar ships of the past to sell keys and R&D packs.
Actually, I can get the T5 Attack Ship for free, because I saved an Ultra Rare Phoenix Token to obtain it.
It was at this point I discovered that getting that ship wouldn't be useful to acquire the remaining console, since that is on the T6 version.
To be brutally honest, I've spent so much EC acquiring a Tholian Tarantula and a Briostrys Dreadnaught that I believe it's not possible to acquire the T6 Strike Ship.
And I'm not so naive as to believe RNG will grant me the ship I seek without spending a fortune on R&D packs!
Awww, still no Cardassian love for poor old Cormoran...
Mostly I'm waiting to see more details, as not very much is known yet regarding the absence/inclusion of Cardassians in this new faction.
My personal hypothesis however, is that the implementation of a Cardassian faction is being held in reserve for a time when the game desperately needs an exciting new content update to revive interest in STO at whatever time as player activity drops to an all time low.
Also, personally, if they include Cardassian playable species in this update, then I'll take it, as this will complete provide two of the four playable species on my wishlist in one update.
And now it's time to wonder about Cardassian ships, they're also "specially restricted" via RNG acquisition as well.......

DS9 voiceover talent - I did smile reading this bit. The only issue is someone has got their lore really wrong of late; Kahless never had anything to do with the Hur'Q. He fought the Fek'lhri. The Hur'Q came much later on, well after the empire was established.
Yeah I tought the same thing when I heard Kurn mention it. The writer must have worked on Discovery...
