yes, we definitely need lots of spaces for tribbles so this doesn't happen
Equip the tribbles you want to keep and put a Cannibal tribble in with the rest. Population control. It's important.

Things I want in STO:
1) More character customization options such as more clothing options, letting the toon complexion affect the entire body, not just the head. Also a true RGB color picker applied to all costume and appearance options, which would allow for true appearance customization and homogenous colors instead of "this same exact color looks vastly different on two different pieces."
2) Bridge customization, not bridge packs. Let us pick a general layout and adjust the color palette, console appearance, and chair types, as well as more ready room layout options.
3) Customizable ground weapons, i.e. The aesthetic look of phaser dual pistols but they shoot antiproton bolts. For obvious reasons this would only apply to standard ground weapons.
4) For the love of Q please revamp Plasma Ground Weapons. They look like demented Supersoakers right now.
5) True Vanity Impulse and Deflector effects similar to Vanity Shields.
6) A greater payout for hitting T6 Reputations. Currently it takes more time and resources to get from T5 to T6 than it does to get from nothing to T5. Make that grind really pay out at the end.
7) Mirrorverse Refugee event similar to AoY/Delta/Gamma, complete with new Mirrorverse recruits for all factions.
8) Independent Faction, because yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me!
Yeah...it does not need to be a personal inventory. It could be a vault or a bank tab added perhaps. However, not sure if Devs would be willing to create more bank tabs (like in a fleet) or even a pet vault.
For R&D metals/upgrades we already have a separate tab so would be logical and perhaps easier to just create another tab.
I agree with ssbn655. If not all pets, at least more of them should have an attack version. Even if we must 'train' it like we do the baby Horta from Mine Enemy.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.
How many pet slots would we start with and how could we increase that number?
20 base. 5 slot expansion for 200 zen in the cstore? max out at about 100?
I'd settle for base of 10.
That would cover most casuals in game.
Then every additional 10 could be 250-1000 z Depending how generous CrypticPWE feel like being.
I'd need anywhere from 10-30 at this point on my various toons.
And @rattler2
There are no spellbooks in Star Trek.
[/teasing ya, I know what you mean.b]
EDIT: Well... Perhaps I spoke too soon.... there is that holy tome known as the "Laws of Acquisition"... for some that is a type of "spellbook"/LifeHack.
Can we also add to the tab, or a slot on out character (like the starship vanity ones) so when we go into a social area (but only a social area) out pet spawns on its own?

That'd be awesome. I think it would be best implemented by letting us right-click the pet summon button(s) on the tray to set them on autofire (like with weapons). Then there'd be no need for additional UI elements and it would be easy to choose what to auto-spawn.

But what would happen to pets exceeding that number? If I have 30 pets - sort of an overflow bag to start with? I suppose collectors will have dozens. There's 10 or so Rom epohhs, another 14 Winter epohhs, 6 Risa monkey, 14 or so Risa birds, not counting the different ages (does anybody collect them by age? Dunno), not to get started with all the other pets you could get in game, all the cats, dogs, hortas, nanovs, and other cuddlies. So some players may have somewhat ridiculous numbers, which could be hard to handle.
I'm all for the idea, don't get me wrong, but I see a technical problem here. Not an unsolvable one, mind you, but some things need to be addressed.
Need to check in how many pets I have...
Edit to add: Most I have on a toon is 57.
My mother was an epohh and my father smelled of tulaberries
I for one wonder what excuse could possibly be offered for the devs' apparent lack of interest in such a sensible addition... 'we don't know how' is not valid, given that we have the R&D tab.
Now, as long as we're on the subject of pets, I for one would appreciate the return of the vanity drones that should be requisitionable from Nukara Strikeforce - they're explicitly mentioned in the list of T5 unlocks ingame, but the corresponding requisition seems to have gone MIA... also, usage time limits on all the reps' noncombat pets should be purged as well, just to be tidy.

Easy. The game is six years old and thus has a maintenance level budget. Upgrades will be far and few between.
All MMOs (heck all games) always fail to fulfill their promise. The question before the player is "is it good enough" and that can only be answered with respect to an individual's goal.
My goal in this game, fly my Connie around and blow stuff up now and than. So I'm happy, but I don't expect anything else from Cryptic. Keeps the disappointments down.
Can I also request the addition of persistent pets please? In ESO once you activate a pet it remains following you until you dismiss it (it stays though loading screens, when you log off/on, remains through fights etc.). The main reason I don't use pets in STO is that I'm too lazy to activate it repeatedly.
Would very much be in Cryptic's favor to give us this.
I mean I honestly ignore any and all pets these days because they are just a waste of inventory and bank space, but with a dedicated storage for pets I might actually try getting some and using them.

How is it maintenance level if we're still getting content and even new ships every few months as well as weekly patches that are more than just "routine server maintenance"? Not to mention the recent Queue UI Revamp and balance pass? Or all the Trek Veterans doing voice overs?
Sure its not a WoW level budget, but it sure as hell isn't maintenance level either.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

Maintenance level includes a small degree of new content to maintain enough interest that the system still makes money. That's all budgeted in.
I would like to see a skill like they do in SWTOR or a couple of other games I have played. Once you right click and "use" the pet it becomes a skill in the pets tab. This way there is no need to reclaim pets and it can't be exploited. Once it is used it disappears and is now a skill for you to call the pet. If you want to trade them in you don't use it and it sits in your inventory if you want the pet you use it and turn it into a skill.

Not an option with the unique, un-reclaimable ones,... I only keep non-reclaimable/special (to me) ones.

For what? Pretty much all pets are character bind on pickup.

New pets will be incoming from Risa. So, yes.
Or not.
