I have noticed that it's taking longer to queue up for these.
That's because it takes 10 players to start instead of 5.

Yes I know, but the amount of time seems to be increasing on top of that. I'm spending significant more time waiting than I was for the same queue.

I think I say the same thing in every post I make on these new CPvE queues...

    "I hate PvP."

But even as much as I hate PvP, I really don't mind these missions.

Binary Circuit is actually pretty fun if you have a team that knows to push the button to reveal the path.

I even liked Core Assault until yesterday. I guess that's when the PvP crowd decided to just vape players instead of trying to win.

I shoot at the core until I die. I respawn and start the process all over. My team usually ends up winning simply because the other team is shooting at us instead of our core. I've never targeted and shot another player, and I never plan to. Oh sure, torp spread and FAW likely tags them from time to time, but my only target is the core.

I don't care if I get blown up by another player, I don't care if I lose, I still get marks and that's all I'm playing for. I figure once that second space queue goes live, I'll move to that and Core Assault will get played by folks who like even the small amount of PvP in it. I certainly don't.

I will keep playing it until then though. It's not that big a deal to me, but once an option exists that allows me to get marks and not have direct PvP, that's where I'll be.

My only real complaint are the stupid consumables we get from the rep boxes. I want gear, not this crud. Can't even sell it to make some money back. And that's actually another thing, why give us back 10K EC with the dumb boxes instead of just charging only 5K to contribute. That makes no sense to me at all.

On KDF / Rom-KDF side, we have missions heavily oriented towards PVP. It's a great combo for us. I've worked off some very old PVP missions that have been dormant in my "Active" list for YEARS. Also been fun killing high defense Escorts with Science.

It's making me want to dig out my old KDF Carriers with Double Elite Orion Interceptors, my BOPs. PVP is the place where the BOP is truly viable at, the things that make them great in PVP doesn't translate as well into PVE excellence. You can make it work, yes, but you're probably better off with a TAC Cruiser / Battlecruiser or regular Escort / Raptor.

If I were you, OP, I wouldn't skip it. Just queue up and experience one or both of the missions and get the points and apply them to the rep system. You will make it even if you're not particularly good at the PvP aspect of it. You will end up running it once every three days and you will keep applying the points and you will advance and make it. It's doable for sure.

Even if you lose, you come out with the marks and even elite marks if you did Advanced / Elite. Winning simply means more marks and a bit of swagger!

I'm only running the rep on one character. None of the rep items interest me because I don't PvP to begin with very much since vaping is a thing and I've already upgraded a disruptor setup that isn't optimal for anything but PvE I'm guessing. Since two bonus mark games a week easily gets me the marks to go through a whole week without playing that's all I'm doing right now. After I hit T5 I think I'm calling it quits for these kind of queues.

And speaking of Heavy Weapons, what is anyone's guess on eventually crafting those. Beams? Cannons? Beams and Canons? Projectiles? Or (God-forbid) a new Crafting School? Level 2, 15, or 20 if an existing School?

I'm sure they will be their own school. Have to have that so new specialized DOFFs can be tossed in lock boxes and get more key sales. For now they're upgrade path is via existing space weapon schools till their own school gets implemented in the game.

The new competitive mark queues don't seem any worse than the other recently added reputation mark queue missions to me. Since they're new content I tried 'em and figured it wasn't going to be that painful to work on the reputation after all.

Same old niggling frustrations in the first part, of 'Core Assault' anyways, that everyone wants to pew-pew instead of progressing the mission and the second PVP part is just something to bear through, like the first part, where I seem to either stomp on other players, get stomped by other players, or somewhere in between (I've read the matching process takes time). Unfortunately these new marks can't be earned through Red Alerts which I believe is the least frustrating method of PUGging through the end of a reputation.

All I know is the rep boxes are spewing powerups faster than I can make room in inventory for them. I'm tempted to start spacing them, they're about as useful as the rep project gear looks.

I've seen a few that might come in handy.

But the one that caught my eye was the Instant Revive one which I think looks useful for general purpose.

The others I'm not too interested in, but would be somewhat useful in a pure pvp setting.

I'm going to start Fleet Banking them. If my fleet mates want them, they can have at em'.
If they start cluttering up the bank, I'll start spacing them

heh, I opened 3 boxes and got 8 different items, and most are short time powerups. I'm sure I can live without the 15 minute buffs that expire before the queue ends. And 9 different uniform items ? LOL
Am doin the rep, tho I dunno why.

They're CBoP. Although they sometimes don't display the bound text. Statis shell looks interesting to me. It gives a massive amount of temp HP... that only works while you hold still. Not sure if knocks will disable it.

I agree. We're too entrenched into this "Lone Wolf, I can blow up the whole galaxy" mentality. That needs to change. We need more cooperative content to foster a change in this behavior somehow.

    "Puzzles"...

That's it, folks. In 2017, knowing how to simply align 2 colors, keeping mashing buttons to keep a path revealed and avoiding glowy balls in corridors with alcoves and only one possible path, are considered "puzzles" and not fun.

    Great freaking Scott!

Well... those are kinda basic RPG puzzles. The "dodging dangerous objects" puzzle I've seen variations of in other games. Most notably Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and made a return in A Link Between Worlds.
    latest?cb=20131208034830

The Invisible Floor puzzle is another common one.

Typically the player is given some means to detect the floor, either by pushing a block and figuring out where the path is by where the block falls, or an item that allows you to see the hidden floor.

When they add the Competitive Marks to the red alerts and the "Choose your marks" cues, then I'll worry about leveling up the new rep, until then, not gonna bother.

sorry, but this one is by far the easiest rep to date. You can't fail it, even a loss gives plenty of marks and a token.

I don't know if I want to or not it's just that I tryed out the new pve mission queus that came out this week and didn't really enjoy it that much. All i wanted to do was just shoot stuff quick not solve puzzles just to open a big stupid door just so myself and the other Captains can get to the objective's. I also noticed that one or two players was just sitting there doing nothing while the 3 of us was doing the work.

Also are there other way's to get competitive marks if not I think I'm might as well skip this one

What a disaster this new CPvE was...NOT thought of well by DEVs

Even if I wanted to play the new PvEs(which I really don't), I can't, since the queues are dead. Waiting is ridiculously long, especially for advanced or elite to get an assessed strategem. So I'm only doing it on one character, if I have a ton of time to waste waiting around. Guess I'll just do some Red Alerts to get my kicks.

I've managed to get advanced going fairly regularly with only a 5 minute wait.

Players are only doing normal because they think it'll make things easier but you can't change the difficulty level of other players so why not just jump into elite and take a standard PvE build!? The only thing to worry about is the timer on elite. A timer punishes teams for PvPing by effectively granting the win to the opposition that are attacking the core.
  • warpangelwarpangel Member Posts: 9,427 Arc User
Some players are also doing Normal because the new UI makes it hard to find the others.

In any case, there's no reason not to play Elite every time, since losing Elite gives you more reward than winning Normal.

Yes, hard. Because nobody tells people there's a button there or what clicking it does.

I myself played the new queues on Normal the first time, because nowhere in the new UI did it say the other difficulties existed at all. It was only after I noticed all the Advanced or Elite queues were gone I went searching for them.

I do fully expect new players not to know what Advanced or Elite queues even are after this. And certainly players confused about how to find them.
  • ffttfftt Member Posts: 715 Arc User
hah! "hard"... one button to click...

Difficult hard - no. Obfuscated hard - yes. There's nothing to really point out that the indicator for the difficulty pulls double duty as the way to change it. Except for the check box to join a queue all the other line items appear to be read-only grid field items. And the new UI definitely has more steps if you want to join multiple queues on difficulties other than normal.
  • ussvaliant#6064 ussvaliant Member Posts: 1,006 Arc User
I've yet to start the rep or try the new queues. I'm not nor have i ever been into PvP, nor do i care about it.
Also can't be bothered to earn marks on 22 characters for a reputation that just doesn't interest me with either its PvE/Rep Traits or Gear, even the 32k dil for completing across 22 characters doesn't appeal to me if that's still applicable.

So this is one rep I'll be sitting out like the last Breach and Mirror Events. To much grind for something that I don't care about or want

IMO it is as boring as any other PvE. There is "NO" CHALLENGE and not sure why DEVs thought of being competitive. Heck this is worst than a regular lame rep.
