I think is fun, and you dont need to win to get the rewards, its not that difficult really, thou is not so fun if you are not with teammates
Indeed. When PuGing for this, there's always a risk of being teamed with toxic individuals that will start getting verbally abusive if your DPS output isn't meeting their "expectations" (as if they had any legitimacy to boss people around, but that's another story...). Nevermind, of course, that you actually worked to solve the puzzles while they were going pew-pew...
And yes. It happened to me days ago already, and we're barely one week into the new season... Some guy whose name i will keep untold started threathening us to either "grow a pair and win", or he'd start reporting us for failing...
Funnily enough, we won, and by a nice margin at that
It's a pity, really, because this new content could be actually entertaining if it wasn't already plagued by people whose ego is larger than the Jenolan Dyson Sphere. And please note, this comes from a player who initially thought he'd not take part in that new reputation at first, but ended up appreciating it !
Nothing new to MMOs. When you have a professed epeen professional involved it usually devolves to this unless everyone is on the same page:

PWE ARC Drone says: "Your STO forum community as you have known it is ended...Display names are irrelevant...Any further sense of community is irrelevant...Resistance is futile...You will be assimilated..."
Ran the Competitive PVE queues this weekend and had quite a lot of fun. I pugged them and we won some, we lost some. Overall a very positive experience. Puzzles were not difficult to do at all.
Only gripe I have is that Core is really DPS-centric.
Yea... I do admit that one is kinda DPS centric. The team with the higher DPS will generally be faster. Although some of the puzzle rooms might trip them up a bit like the color code lock room.
The space one is the first form of PVP that I've done since I was hardcore into it. Back when Dyson Rep was new.

I've actually enjoyed the fact we got some puzzles to work through.
I just wish I didn't keep getting stuck in pew pew groups on the ground one. I have YET to be successful in that one. Got close at least once, but we were actually short handed on that run, and I think the other team stalled on purpose in the boss room.
I think I say the same thing in every post I make on these new CPvE queues...
"I hate PvP."
But even as much as I hate PvP, I really don't mind these missions.
Binary Circuit is actually pretty fun if you have a team that knows to push the button to reveal the path.
I even liked Core Assault until yesterday. I guess that's when the PvP crowd decided to just vape players instead of trying to win.
I shoot at the core until I die. I respawn and start the process all over. My team usually ends up winning simply because the other team is shooting at us instead of our core. I've never targeted and shot another player, and I never plan to. Oh sure, torp spread and FAW likely tags them from time to time, but my only target is the core.
I don't care if I get blown up by another player, I don't care if I lose, I still get marks and that's all I'm playing for. I figure once that second space queue goes live, I'll move to that and Core Assault will get played by folks who like even the small amount of PvP in it. I certainly don't.
I will keep playing it until then though. It's not that big a deal to me, but once an option exists that allows me to get marks and not have direct PvP, that's where I'll be.
My only real complaint are the stupid consumables we get from the rep boxes. I want gear, not this crud. Can't even sell it to make some money back. And that's actually another thing, why give us back 10K EC with the dumb boxes instead of just charging only 5K to contribute. That makes no sense to me at all.
Hello. My name is iamynaught and I am an altaholic.
it's turning out that the space puzzles are not too difficult for pugs as i feared. this pleases me. I'm enjoying the core mission. still i'm limiting it to 3 characters and wait for parrots for the rest. partly because the 3 need extra for the heavy weapons and partly because it's much more time consuming than other reps.

Was wondering what caused the alert. Guess AVG prefers Mario over Zelda.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I have to agree on the invisible floor puzzle. Some people I've played with seem to not understand how to work it and just focus on shooting NPCs.
I don't know if I want to or not it's just that I tryed out the new pve mission queus that came out this week and didn't really enjoy it that much. All i wanted to do was just shoot stuff quick not solve puzzles just to open a big stupid door just so myself and the other Captains can get to the objective's. I also noticed that one or two players was just sitting there doing nothing while the 3 of us was doing the work.
Also are there other way's to get competitive marks if not I think I'm might as well skip this one
I have already completed it on the tribble server. I am enjoying the rewards.
Fleet Admiral of the U.S.S. ATTILA KHAN-CDA (NX-921911).
It already shows where this is going. There are some posting on these Forums that they don't care about the cores, etc., they just want to vape other players.
They....are in withdrawal??? Maybe? J/K
But is it really that surprising?
I think it shows the rift between the stuff PC players want and how Console players like to play...they may as well have two different STO games.
Unless someone can get it together and teach some PvP counters and tactics to the PvE players. And PvE players are willing to learn something other than DPS set ups. "Does not bode well" is fitting for this format or this "season". Maybe the "Ship Builds" and "Media Corps" can get the You Tube videos going.....
And on the PvP side...there needs to be a culture change. Drive out those who are doing nothing but trolling.
Doubt either one of these will happen this late in the game.
Yes there needs to be a change to the PVP side as in scrap it and toss it in the garbage bin unless Cryotic wakes up and makes PVP a LEVEL playing field with premade ships and stations. PVP will remain the way it is... Trolls and Wallet Warriors with no skill outside of thier builds and Daddies credit card until that happens. PVP needs to go and Co-op PVE Oh wait I mean Co-op PVP disgused as Co-Op PVE with it.

Um yeah... see.... you already posted why they WON'T.

Yes, like Otha or kerrat or their klingon counterparts.

God forbid for game to actually challenge you sometimes, like there is not enough of mindless shooting and bullet sponges npcs already
When you HAVE to play with 4 others in a team you did not assemble and they turn out to be colour blind try to get the puzzle solved with the iconian symbols! For the rest it was fun, but i can see the point that the new que system will need some time to get popular amongst the players. But hey, that was also the fact with the badlands battlezone and recently the tzenkethi battlezone. I DO remember at the start of Badlands Battlezone that for a fact i was one of the first to try it out, was a immediate hit to me, although for the first two weeks i was in the badlands alone or with one or two others. Give it some time people, that's all i want to say. Resistance is NOT futile, but ADAPTATION will be the ultimate outcome.
Overall, the rewards and the items to be purchased for the Rep are not that great. The only items I am interested are the Heavy Weapon and the console. The special uniform isn't all that attractive. I only do ground since space crashes on me too frequently. I'm not sure if I would have my alts even do this rep. It just seems like it isn't worth the effort.
And speaking of Heavy Weapons, what is anyone's guess on eventually crafting those. Beams? Cannons? Beams and Canons? Projectiles? Or (God-forbid) a new Crafting School? Level 2, 15, or 20 if an existing School?

Please, no more new crafting schools. I hate that idea.
I'm betting there's never an crafting school for them. Just specials in lockboxes you get from other ships.
I have noticed that it's taking longer to queue up for these.
Could be due to the player matching system. Not that the matching system is doing a good job, my runs through BC are always very one-sided no matter if I win or lose.
If I were you, OP, I wouldn't skip it. Just queue up and experience one or both of the missions and get the points and apply them to the rep system. You will make it even if you're not particularly good at the PvP aspect of it. You will end up running it once every three days and you will keep applying the points and you will advance and make it. It's doable for sure.

Makes no sense. Was a google search for images. What are you using? Frickin' paranoid as hell AVG or something?

I crushed so many players last night in Core Assault... I kinda feel bad.
They were dropping like flies, I've never seen anything like it.
Think I'll dial it back in the future.
