Pheonix Prize Pack Epic Failure For Long Time Players

Now this was a novel Idea but it fell short. I as a long time player who has completed all the events for ships, find the prizes lacking for the epic voucher. If I was to be awarded an Epic voucher, It would be useless to me as I already have all the ships offered. Maybe the Jem'Hadar Strike ship could have been offered, or maybe that new Ferengi ship only a chosen few received. All I'm saying is this pack is wonderful for those players who are very new to the the game, but us veterans get a selection of rewards that are already owned.

I'm going to echo this. I've played the game since it's second year on and off. I've missed some rewards, and I looked at this and thought it was going to be a good chance at getting some of them on my main characters and enjoying what I missed the first time around.

Turns out it's just a whale hunt. Only the luckiest players will get any of the real good rewards without spending money. The only good things to come out of this are a plummet exchange rate I can use to get cheap Zen. The amount of dil actually spent getting the rewards I got weren't worth it.

I've been playing since the 2nd year with very few breaks, and the biggest prizes in the list of things is the non-Epic stuff, like Red Matter Capacitor, the Plasma Auto-Turret, and the Tribbles I missed from not testing seasons. I've been consolidating all my dilith (opened 130-ish so far, so not a huge amount compared to others) and am happy so far. I can afford all the emotes for my two mains, and more than enough turrets and red matter for my alts who could use it.

Useless to many veteran/long term players. Many of us already have more marks/fleet credits then we know what to do with and tons of upgrades with noting left to upgrade. I still have around 100 Omega upgrades from last year.

For all my trouble all I got was a Jem'hadar attack ship to save me money pursing one later (all I wanted was the Hangar pets for my Jem Dread, so it works). I got the Voth admiralty ship cause it's pretty good, and I pretty much skipped everything on the Very Rare list because none of those items are particularly good anymore. I'd have loved to have the Red Matter a few years ago, before power creep rendered it blarg. Really the best reward though at the tech upgrades, and I'll probably open a few more boxes just to grab some. My mains already have most of their gear upgraded, but I could boost a few things here and there.

Thing is those were all things I couldn't really care less about not having. They're nice but I wouldn't miss them. What I wanted was the Breen carrier (and lets be honest the ships are the real prize and we all know it). It's the one event ship I missed that I really wanted, but that's a blatant pipe dream unless I feel like spending a couple hundred bucks.

Take note of the title of this thread. The rewards for all the other categories are fine to me except Epic. Downgrading to ultra rare is known to me, but there I am limited to the 2 ships that were lottery chances to win.

If you've already gotten the good stuff on the list for free, then good for you. Seriously. Other people have not and this is an answer to a very long standing request to give us a way to get stuff we missed. Sorry it doesn't benefit you, but you don't have to spend your dilithium if there's nothing you want on the list.

That's kind of the problem though. The chance for the real rewards are so low that I doubt many people who missed them the first time around will get them.

Ships like the Nandi and the Sarr Theln cost 1 hour of your time over the course of 2 1/2 weeks to obtain when they were first available. Now they're in excess of several hundred dollars worth of Zen (even at the rapidly declining exchange rate for Dil/Zen).

I'm already done trying to pursue this. The rate is too low, and I don't imagine most players will put in nearly as much as I did trying.

    I disagree.

Even by being a veteran (I bought the collector's edition that gave the automated turret tac console), I still had several characters that didn't have all the rewards, so the event was very welcome.

My KDF didn't have the Admirality Voth ship because I didn't feel like doing the Breach event more than 20 times, didn't have the crystal shard pet because she wasn't created back then, didn't have most of the emotes or the uncommon rewards.

My Romulan is a Delta recruit so she didn't get any reward from before and she is the least used of my toons.

    Same for my AoY.

And sometimes I was busy or not playing the game during some events for whatever reasons.

So apart from the ships my main was fortunately here for, I didn't have a lot of things for most of my characters. Even my oldest main didn't have the Red Matter Capacitor, the emotes or the tribbles.

I wouldn't spend a single DIL on this. Then again I don't need any of that stuff since I already own all of them. Actually, to put in perspective one man's trash is another's gold.

no free pack. false advertising. and seems to be some glitches with a few items listed. otherwise, has a couple of items i missed. just wish non-combat pets served a purpose - like unlocking admiralty ships or something. I end up tossing the free ones, since they are useless and take up space... Would be better if those items were moved to the Tailor or Ship guy as a Cosmetic add-on, instead.

best item is actually one of the tribbles - gives 5 Dil every hour. I've noticed you can equip a trib to a Boff and nearly every time a Boff uses it you get the bonus rewards - at least with the Solanae Tribble and a couple of others. Going to see if it works on the Radan Tribble later.

This pack was not created for jaded grinder farmer veterans who have everything on all of their eleventy characters.

So don't get the packs, problem solved.

I've been playing since 2012 and think the pack is great. It's a very nice way to help newer players and to fill in gaps on some of my own captains who were created after Crystalline and Mirror events were over.

I'm in the same boat as saurializard. I would like two each of the jem and voth ships (I have two accounts), but for me the great part will be adding the admiralty card, shotgun, doffs, and emotes for lesser used alts; with a few that want the torpedo and console.

I will stockpile a bunch of the upgrades for future gear. We all know that there are more feature episodes coming soon and each wil have a set or special item. So even if everything is upgraded now there are future items to think of.

Yes, this isn't for the uber vets that has it all with hundreds of omega upgrades...for the other 99.9999999999999% of us...well it's great.

    pretty much what he said...

Tech upgrades are so good infact, kind of make the rest obsolete imho. 51k upgrade for 4500 dil compared to 12k upgrade for 1000 dil. Sure it is a little less for the dil invested, but there is no production cost, it is omni and works better with the boosters (2x upgrade chance, 2x techpoints)

so those boxes are pure win for everybody, except that nucleus of people that have literally everything and everything at max.

Yeah, looks like some people didn't get the point of the Pheonix Prize Pack.

    http://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/10287833-phoenix-prize-pack
Just like Zefram Cochrane’s experimental vessel, the Phoenix Prize Pack blazes a trail into new frontiers! And, following in the model of its mythological namesake, the Phoenix Prize Pack also represents the return from the ashes of items, ships and other rewards that have been retired from Star Trek Online, and are no longer accessible by any other means.

I've been playing since January 2014 and I have all the Epic Prizes on my primary account. So even as a more recent player compared to the seasoned vets, this pack is not directly aimed at me. This is more for new players or for old players that probably took a long break and decided to play STO again.

If I were to somehow get an Epic token, then I would definitely grind it down to Ultra Rare so that I can get the JHAS and the phallic dil-do just to have 'em. Or further grind them down to Very Rare to get extra RMC or the Crystalline Spike since I took a break from STO and was not around for that particular event.

If I don't get any of those things, then it's not a big deal. I have somehow been able to play STO without those thing up until now. I am sure I can somehow continue to do so.

I also agree with azrael. This box is one of the best things. Not only is it an effective DL sink (that was BADLY needed), it is a means for players to get a hold of things that are no longer available. I got my hands on Air Guitar emote so I am happy. I got all the event ships as well, but I'm not ranting and complaining that I can't get anything out of it.

well I can only echo what I said in another thread, I spent 120k dil got a bunch of emotes, red matter capacitor, Automated Defence Turret and a bunch of Tech Upgrades for each of my 3 main characters, I am very happy.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Your math is off. Buy 10 for 40,000 not 45,000.

You save 300 dil for every 4 Phoenix upgrades compared to superiors.

Today, I sold over 250k Dil to buy 750 Zen, because the exchange rate had dropped by over 100 D/Z. Then I claimed my free box, and one of my toons now has the Voth admiralty ship. (+50 to each stat when alone, and the stats are pretty good to start with..) If I want more boxes, grinding Dil is amusingly easy in this game, especially with the help of my Klink toon (who gets Contraband from Marauding DOff missions, and then that's 2k Dil per toon handing it in per day).

I'd like to have the shotgun, although I have to decide who gets it. And a couple of other toons could use the Admiralty card. Beyond that, no, this event isn't meant for me. But you know what? It's not always about me. And it's not always about you, either. The sooner you absorb that into your overall worldview, the happier you'll be.

Too late. I sold a lot of zen last night at 402. I'll spend some of that dil now and turn the rest into more zen than I started with.

Been flipping zen/dil for years as the exchange fluctuates. ^.^
