TOS Phaser type would be nice. TOS Phaser Cannons would look sweet.
The Phaser cannon didn't exist in TOS time though

But I guess since its Temporal stuff it could

A reputation set of blue TOS style phasers to compliment the quantum set would be fantastic.
The Andorian Phasers are Blue, They look great with the quantum set :D

To me the Fed needs a lone Rep and so do KDF. This way they can have their own style of gear. Similar to the Romulan Rep.

I kind of like this idea. Problem is, no matter how you spin it, it would require specific work for the less populous factions, and that just doesn't happen anymore. A Fed-specific rep, sure, but convincing them to produce a ground set with armor visuals specifically for Romulans has been a futile endeavor since LoR, so the odds of them doing a KDF rep from the ground up are indistinguishable from zero.

technically, the terran task force rep IS a klingon rep, since everything in it was developed by the empire for fighting the federation

Or we need a full set of the anti-antproton instead of just the cannon. :)

I may be wrong but there has not yet been a reputation with phaser damage type. It looks like the temporal chronitons will be another AP-based weapon. We just had yet another AP boosting universal console with the Crystalline event....with the 50th anniversary of TOS coming let's have some phaser love!

These are the reputation damage types as far as I remember:
Omega - N/A (kinetic cutting beam and plasma torp)
    Romulan - Plasma
    Nukara - Tetryon
    Dyson - Proton
    Counter-Command - Disruptor
    Delta - Polaron
    Iconian - AP
    Terran - Disruptor
    Temporal - AP (Chroniton)

Those Dyson weapons are Polaron, as well.

The Dyson Rep Rifle, (Dyson Experimental Proton Beam Rifle) does ACTUAL proton damage.

Personally.. I think it's astounding that the only damage type to not have a reputation is Phaser.. the most well known of all Star Trek Weapons.

And Undine does not count.. those puke green abominations are not proper Phasers.

We need a Reputation with true Phasers..the orange ones.. that also offers an Omni.

Blue Phasers are also acceptable, though they just look like Tetryon.. They should probably be Orange. :)

With all the hybrid weapons they've made, I wonder why they've never gone for the canon one:

We don't know they didn't exist. Just that we never saw them. I say the rapid pulse firing of ball turret phasers in TWOK, as well as the pulsed phase cannon emitters in the NX Columbia and Mirror NX enterprise suggest that some capability along the lines of cannons was well within the realm of possibilities of Starfleet in the 22nd and 23rd centuries.

I was hoping the new chroniton weapons would work with any of the damage specifc consoles, removing the restriction that it would have to be AP...(say if you have polaron..) Its a pipe dream I know...But it would be cool..

It is somewhat strange we now have chroniton/temporal-themed energy weapons in every damage type except phaser and disruptor.

We just need a Reputation track for working for Section 31. Then you'd see phasers galore.
  • asuran14asuran14 Member Posts: 2,335 Arc User
I could go for a tri-faction reputation that has a unique weapon set, and visuals that are dependent on what faction you are apart of (Fed, Rom, KDF). Though in the end if you spend into a tier five project that costs a lot of dil/marks/EC that than grants you access to all three faction-specific set's projects.

We try to make reputations around a narrative, tying the damage type into it.

I also *may* have pushed a bit for Chroniton once we knew this was going to be Temporal-themed.
    ...
    ...
    ...
I totally pushed. Nobody can prove I shouted RAINBOWS in multiple design meetings, so it's fine :)

If you ever feel like pushing for a phaser based reputation in the future, I'd love to see a proper (orange coloured) plasma phaser weapon set. In the past I'd suggested adding them to the Omega Reputation, since in TNG they were mentioned as being anti-Borg weapons.

funny note: on the first few episodes [at least half the season] when kirk was refering to enterprise weaponry simple as "phasers" it was shooting energy balls [like STO canons does] but then at some point they started to talk about phaser BANKS and it was only then when enterprise started shooting beams - also - they were blue :P

    funny don't you think? :P

Its not that astounding - the energy type is based on/themed to the group you are working for. One problem with the Federation being THE default 'who you're working for' is it makes them quite redundant as the patrons of a Reputation track...

Hence a Section 31 Reputation track: Not your usual boss. Still prefers phasers. Done and done.

But I don't like the interpretation of Section 31 as a legitimate intelligence agency in service of the Federation. I think they should stay a rogue element, or stay ambigious. Turning them into a reputation would imply they are something legitimate.

Maybe if we ever get an exploration-related content addition, with a new exploration mechanic, maybe they could make something like the "Gamma Quadrant / [PreviouslyunknownSectorBlock] / Andromeda Expedition Fleet" Reputation.

Could be anything at this point.
We've pretty much run out of enemies to steal stuff from so it's probably gonna be something completely new. Spehre builder weapons? JJ phasers?

We have a Romulan reputation, so we could just as well have plain Federation and Klingon reputations.
