Agents of Yesterday - Playable Race Speculation

So, obviously no-body knows yet what playable races we will have for the TOS faction, but because I have little better to do on a Friday night (sob) I thought I'd start some speculation.

What character races do you fine people think AoY will bring? Quite a few we currently have make no sense in a TOS era as they've yet to be discovered. Such as:
  • Lib Borg
  • Talaxian
  • Bajoran
  • Bentzite (not 100% sure on this one - were the Benzites around in TOS?)
  • Trill - joined or unjoined
  • Starfleet Klingons - both because the Federation & the Empire are in a state of cold war, plus the TOS Klingons have smooth foreheads
  • There may be more, but that's all I can think of for now

Races that could be included:
  • All 4 Federation founders (Human, Vulcan, Tellarite, Andorian)
  • Caitian
  • Efrosian (the race the President was in ST:VI)
  • Orion
  • Any of the “Novelty” humans such as the Chicago gangsters or Romans
Any thoughts which will be free? Which will be purchasable, and which will be LTS exclusive (if any)?

After seeing the pic of the Original Gorn style in the announcement video and again in the Game Play Update site, I'm wondering if They are going to bring that back as a playable item...?

Yeah, I noticed the Gorn too. They're possible as they're still an independent faction in TOS.

I was also thinking some of the Enterprise races like the Xindi & the Suliban aren't impossible

The description on the new Arc launch site pretty much confirms as much, that they are still an independent power at that point. How they are going to rectify the old/new gorn looks is going to be interesting. Radioactive fallout from the war? Different sub species from one of their three home worlds?

EDIT: GAH! My new sig is WAY too big :disappointed:

Efrosians would be nice to have. Might make good warrior-medics. Some special Andorian, Vulcan and Tellarite versions would also be nice, in the C-store with a special trait. Something that isn't too game-breaking but nice to have in its own way, much like the Caitian's jump heigth. It should be something you notice, not just something that's only a passive boost to some stats.

I would think the Trill would be around in TOS era although not explicitly seen. Toban Dax apparently was present on Earth for the launch of Columbia (NX-02). Emony Dax met Bones while he was still at university. And of course Curzon Dax was a Federation Ambassador around the time of Wrath of Khan and so Trills were probably made Federation members before then.

depending on what backdrops of fiction they use, the Gorn Hegemony is actually comprised of 3 distinct species from 3 distinct star systems, that were found to be so genetically close to one another as to be able to inter-breed w/o medical assistance.

Yeah, that's my hope of what background they go with. Then just have the planet that the TOS race comes from get nuked in the war with the Klingons, and boom - canon fixed.

We still need the Deltans. That would be nice to introduce as well.

I'm hoping we get Deltans with Orion seduce type trait. A cool one would be the Medusan's with at trait to boost Driver Coil. Also they had the Aenar during the NX Ent era so maybe a playable race in this release.

That's not a lisp, that's their voice before the universal translator kicks in. For some reason it can't work as fast as it does everywhere else on gorns.

Since there is a mechanic for tripeds (Undine) I'm wondering if Edosians (not Efrosians) are possible.

I dont even want to begin to think of the clipping issues for uniforms... I bet the costume art department would go on strike

Quite right, I wasn't thinking. I guess I let my TOS/TAS nostalgia get the better of me.

    Denobulans?

(also Rigelians, the version we have in STO is based on their appearance as a FED founding species in ENT)

Yeah the Orions are an interesting one since it was during TOS era that it was discovered that their government had been lying to the UFP, but we never saw on screen when the Feds did something.

Organians, man. Or Metrons. Heck, I could even lower myself to play a Kelvan I suppose, although I would have to wash my hands after each session...

Darnit, I came here to express my desire to play unfrozen superman lawyercaptain. Without the healblood though.

I didn't look for it ... but are the Klingons TOS Klingons?
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.
  • tousseautousseau Member Posts: 1,484 Arc User
Well... even if "alien" is still option, we could still see unaligned members in Starfleet too, I suppose... Such as the Troyians or Elasians.

Yes, and their updated TOS look has already breached through to some holodeck NPC's.

Needs a environment suit item with an effect that is a hover/wheelchair.
