- "The" Shatner
3 or 4 missions with the Captain who started it all.
This one is priority for me.
Adding that lump of lard actor would be a sure way to ruin STO. No talent and way too much ego.
Just because some are nostalgic about TOS doesn't mean bringing in low quality, yet expensive, actors from the "good old days" is a good idea.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Oh. So it was a skill revamp with the system cloned from NW. Yeah, exciting.
QQ
If all you're going to do is whine about the system being a "clone" of Neverwinter's skill system, then I guess the dev team is doing its job... since anything that mmps1 doesn't like must be something that is good for the game.
That's ok random internet stranger, I value your opinion greatly.
There are people who like Shatner and his portrayal of Kirk and there are some who dont. Same with Stewart, Brooks, Mulgrew, and Bakula. I think having Shat would be a big moment for this game. Just like getting any big name Captain. Is nostalgia a bad thing? If so none of us would be using tng or tos uniforms, ships etc.
I think that Cryptic is giving up STO in the forseable future. I mean, i stopped playing this game last year and returned 9 months later, just to realize that nothing had changed. Two weeks ago i posted some ideas about galaxy improvement and stuff, and the dev's answer was "no can do, we don't have the money, we don't have the manpower, nonononono".. It makes me kinda sad. I mean, introducing new enemies is fun, but as someone said before, what happened to the Elachi? What happend to the Tholians? They appeared in two of the new episodes, and now the Krenim are our enemy?! It seems that Cryptic is afraid to make the big changes.
So yeah, moar lockboxes, moar grind, moar the same as everyday, moar completely useless Item-Sets for every new episode.. I'm not surprised that people stop playing STO.

Nonsense. Cryptic/PW are making money from this game, and the Trek franchise is about to get a new TV series which will only increase the number of people interested in playing a Trek game. Cryptic is not going to "give up" this game unless there were some legal reason they had to do so.

If you think the Elachi and Tholians were only in 2 episodes then you have not played all the missions by a long shot. Nor is Cryptic giving up on STO, in fact according to the EP they are currently in discussion with CBS about when and how they could possibly connect to the new Trek TV series scheduled for next year. The game's license is not expired, and is highly likely to be renewed when it does expire. BTW, those item sets your moaning about, I have at least one character that for each set finds it a great bonus to their existing build. My phaser toon uses the Sunrise set, one of my disruptor guys enjoys the Resonant Disruptor set, etc etc. The current mission arc btw is tied into episodes from multiple Trek TV series (at least TNG and Enterprise, possibly Voyager as well, probably not DS9 AFAIK, though of course Temporal Investigations started there).
I said two of the NEW episodes.
Well, good for you if you use the new sets, i found it more interesting, when we had unique items as rewards (for example the stealth suit from one of the vaadwaur missions), or one mission - one part of the set (like the jem-set). It's quite tiring playing the same mission four times, just to get the new set (and the bonus reward), as it's just skipping and rushing. But that's just my opinion.
Instead of getting the mandatory "oh my, we have a new enemy who tries to destroy the galaxy" type of mission, i would like to see maybe a revamp of some of the old zones (like Defera, or Kobali, or Dyson, or Nukara). But, as one of the Devs said "No can do".
I agree since Geko was talking about the whole 2016 year, but still the skill tree revamp is huge and game changing.
Made out of thirty categories to ten and add five new to me does not seem like a huge change. Look how it works in Neverwinter, it is that simple , that you spend about five minutes with it.
To mark the 50th anniversary of Star Trek might come third expansion

Being critical doesn't take skill. Being constructively critical- which is providing alternative solutions or suggestions to a demonstrated problem, however, does.
If at least one of the new things isn't a new Specialization helmed by a cross-faction Vesta nine-pack I will be legitimately surprised.
The resurgence of Science ships lately, the dire need of new Science ships on the KDF and Rom sides, the unwavering popularity of the Vesta itself, and the lack of a new Spec for some time... The environment is ripe for something like this.

The Elachi, being Iconian servitors, will likely not appear again unless/until T'Ket uses them in her campaign of revenge. As for the Tholians, they... do stuff. We've been fighting on-and-off with them for years, depending on whether we had something they wanted or not.
Now, we have the Krenim, the Na'kuhl, and possibly the Sphere Builders. For a 'Temporal War' (with or without the 'Cold' bit) arc, that seems pretty reasonable.
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
We're not thinking BIG enough? A playable Voth Fortress Ship then? Is that BIG enough?
I'm not holding out much hope regardless. Each year we're told great things are coming, then it turns out to be more of the same. Look how much Delta Rising was hyped, and now, we're barely involved with the Delta Quadrant, so yeah, I'll believe it when I see it.
As to the speculation... Tier 7 ships at 7,000 Zen each? Tier 8 ships at 8,000 each?
Am I following the Trend-y closely enough?

I mean really, making a thread about the same old marketing schlock that every Producer says about every game, true or not?
Exactly, it's like they come out of a book of stock phrases. As if he said to his intern...

Negating crits is fun. Needs more like a 6 second internal cooldown instead of 30 seconds (when fully developed) but it's still a start.
