    V'ger

V'ger is already here, the Borg command ships in the Red Alerts are styled like V'Ger's ship, and it isn't an accident (blame Shatner for everyone thinking V'ger is Borg, it was his novel).

Acutally its was an off-handed remark from Roddenberry and the Star Trek Encyclopedia mentioned a possible link. Both of these were before Shatner's The Return. But it would be neat to have a V'ger space adventure zone

He's talkin mainly about Expansion 3 and other improvements of seasons 13/14. What i'm associating with "big" is a revamp of science and an exploration system. And for the content of the connected pack i hope for sci ships with a new sci-oriented specialization tree. But also the skill revamped would be good.

With all this talk of big things coming to STO this year, I like most, was left wondering what those things. I played through the current (at the time of this post) Feature Episode and then it occurred to me:
The Battle of Procyon V from the Enterprise Episode ‘Azati Prime’

Think about it – we’ve become involved in the Temporal Cold War. We briefly saw the battle. There were ships contemporary to STO’s timeframe there in canon! Those ship classes included:
    Prometheus class
    Dauntless class
    Nova class
    Vorcha Class

So what if the reason those ships were present was that our character led a task-force to Procyon V?

The biggest ‘issue’ would be the Enterprise-J, although from what we saw it didn’t participate as such and it could probably be added as a background asset.

I’ll probably create an individual thread for this actually.

yeah, one problem with that...most player's characters would be dead by then, because it happened in the 26th century

I wonder if the "Big" thing is a new Red Alert with a doomsday device.
Would be nice for those nostalgically wielding harpeng torpedoes.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Yes, there have been people who have posted this before in the innumerable threads on this very topic over the years.

Not hard to follow at all really.

You are correct that is is *not* hard to follow, yet you *still* are not answering the question I asked you. Since you are having so much trouble, I am going to highlight some key words. Here was my question(s) to you:
I definitely don't remember every post over the last 8 pages, but has someone in this thread said that? Or have you read it in some other thread recently? I'm not denying those people may be out there, but what, exactly, is motivating you to address them unless they are posting in this thread or you have read their posts recently? Do you have a link to some recent post that makes you feel compelled to address that point that no one here seems to be making?

Do you see those words? Now, here was your reply:
Yes, there have been people who have posted this before in the innumerable threads on this very topic over the years.

Your reply did *not* answer my question. I asked you if:

A: you had read people saying that in this thread, or

B: If you had read people saying that somewhere else, *recently*

Since you did not answer my question, I asked you again. And you gave the same reply, which *still* did not answer my question. So at this point I have to wonder:

1: did you not *see* those words I highlighted above?

2: do you not *comprehend* those words I highlighted above?

3: did you willingly *ignore* those words I highlighted above?

    Which one was it?

Could we possibly quit spamming this thread with "I said, you said" arguments?

This has been filling my notifications the past two days for no good reason. Let it go already.

You shouldn't be getting notifications on a thread you didn't post unless someone used your @ handle in a comment. Also, if something bothers you, just follow your own advice: let it go already :D

If one likes a thread one can "follow" the thread which then gives a notification to any new posts. I don't believe there is a way to unfollow a thread.

EDIT: Also, I agree. The speculation in the thread is good and entertaining but the argument some people are having is lame and unproductive.

It did to my satisfaction and that's all that matters to me.

So that would be the "willingly ignored" option I mentioned earlier. Thanks for clarifying!
I'm wondering if there might be some kind of tie in to the new series coming in STO? That could potentially be huge.

STO has already shown their willingness to include ships and uniforms for virtually every era, regardless of whether they "fit" into STO's time period or not. So I expect they will probably include some ships and uniforms from the new show. Possibly even planets or locations. However, if the new show is set either in the same time period or remotely close to STO, there are going to be huge contradictions. Quite simply, the writers of this new show are not going to fact check their story against STO, they are only going to abide by the previous canon set down in the other shows. So if the new show were set anywhere near the same time period as STO, I guarantee it would directly contradict the majority of STO's storylines that have already been created. And if that is the case, CBS would probably be better served saying STO was in an alternate universe.

Actually, I disagree that the skill revamp is the meat of what Al is talking about. While cool, he said big things were coming this year. It's only february. I think the next expansion is coming, for sure.

No, that would be the "I answered your question" option.

No, I'm afraid not. You could technically say you "responded", but refusing to address key qualifying words in a question is definitely not "answering" that question. And no amount of denying that will ever change that simple fact.

Having said that, I will now explain why I specifically used the word "recently", several times in my question(s). If you have not read the comments you were addressing(regarding Dan's quote) in *this* thread, and you have not read them elsewhere *recently*, then why are you so obsessed with making a response to them in this thread?

I'm thinking there is going to be more than this. While cool, I don't see a skill revamp being all that "big" in terms of being meaningful with regard to the 50th anniversary of Star Trek.

I agree. They know expansions bring a lot of new people to a game, and I think they are looking to streamline the leveling experience for those new people.

    If we're still speculating...

    - The Super Top Secret PvP Revamp; (which has been secretly in the works since LoR in the darkest basement corner at Cryptic Studios)
It will included new game modes and maps, Including the crown jewel, Real-Time Cap and Hold territory control between factions (Ground and Space Maps). Akin to a Dyson Sphere map in space, but Player vs Player. Faction versus Faction.
There would be an instance for those who wish to use every trait, console, and gimmick at their disposal, and there will be another instance where player could go into battle fitted with a stock loadout, and battle opponents on level grounds.
PvP Leaderboards and PvP Reputation released along with it.

    - New Faction
Similar to Roms having to choose Fed/KDF at one point. The "Colony World" point of view would be perfect, as other have suggested. And could also serve as the launch point for a new Exploration system, if and when we get one.

    - "The" Shatner
3 or 4 missions with the Captain who started it all.
This one is priority for me.

These releases would be BIG to me. These releases would live up to my expectation.

If that means I'm not thinking BIG enough...well then, I'm ready to have my socks blown off. Bring it.

If all you're going to do is whine about the system being a "clone" of Neverwinter's skill system, then I guess the dev team is doing its job... since anything that mmps1 doesn't like must be something that is good for the game.
