I play daily, doings STF's, Red Alerts, Reps, Doffing, Admiralty and the like. I don't use a flagged Dev account and I have most of my settings on private though, otherwise I get swamped in messages and can't play (because I feel rude if I don't respond to PM's)!

Go to sleep Tim. It's like 4am there. I can tell time. I'm not a robot.

I will say for my part, I have always had trouble playing any games I've worked on. I'm mostly an explorational gamer. I enjoy discovering the world within the game, figuring out where things are, how everything connects, etc. It is very difficult to explore spaces you have built yourself. Even beyond the exploration aspect, there's a lot lost to me through "knowing how the sausage is made." That is to say, it's difficult to enjoy a game when you know how it was all made, who wrote the lines, put that spawn there, etc. Even worse when you spot errors. Rather than running past that wonky triangle, or dismissing that typo, every error is glaring you in the face the whole time. At least for me.
Gee, if only there were an alternative to playing static content.. some sort of system geared towards explorers...
I got one of those employee accounts for my stint as a board mod with EA. Unfortunately, it was a lifetime account to The Sims Online. Ouch.
Science-focused Dev here. I'm not flying a science ship at the moment, but that's due to my urge to collect all the Pokemon Starship Traits. As has been mentioned, some of us are more public with when we play our personal accounts, but we all have them. I love me my Annorax
Yes, everyone plays different amounts -- I generally log on once a day for DOffs/Admiralty/Rep stuff, and then longer periods 2-3 times a week to play missions, queues, battlezones, etc.

I can't count the number of times I've run into a small bug in the games I've worked on while playing and tried to open the internal editing tools to fix it while at home ><

You wouldn't believe the number of times I've run into bugs and wanted to write them up at home, either.

Nah, I can confirm Trendy's not a robot. Robots don't eat bacon and drink coffee.

Wow, thank you.
Nice to hear that people log in, look around, and even play. I've enjoyed this thread.
I now automatically hate you (in a joking way). You have the ship with the boff, console, and weapon layout that I want with a spot for my secondary deflector (that I really had hoped the fed carrier was going to be similar too), and there is no way I can ever get one.

However, considering the huge amounts of negativity directed towards them hourly by these forums, I am very surprised any of the Dev Team voluntarily spent their free time playing STO. I have seen one or two ingame. While I'd like to go say 'Hello!' when this occurs, I'd rather not draw extra attention to them.
One of the things I have learned about Star Trek in general and this game in particular is it has an amazing attraction for crazy people. And I am not talking crazy as in "Ha-Ha!". I am talking crazy as in "Go get the jacket, quickly! And the tranquilizer gun!".
The last person from Cryptic/Perfect Word I saw play STO openly was BranFlakes, a former Community Manager.
A six year old boy and his starship. Living the dream.
That is true there are a lot of crazy fans, but I don't think that's exclusive to Star trek.
It doesn't help they have a massive IP to live up to story-wise, but I think they are doing a phenomenal job now more than ever. The latest story arcs have been excellant and tie in nicely with the various trek series.
If I was a DEV I would play incognito too and probably troll players for lulz... have fun at their expense for once. XD
Probably the best thread ever to get this many devs and mods responding! My hats off to the OP ! I hope they make a habit of visiting us here as well!
"There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life." - Ten Bears (Will Sampson)
I kind of imagine the dev's like the sea creatures at the Atlanta aquarium. If your nice and patient they will come hang with you but if your mean and yell they go hide under a rock and aflict you with their magical DEV powers... lol
I think Branflakes moved on to work with the team doing Firefall, another F2P game. As Branflakes was well liked here, he was rather open about the the change in job. We all wished him luck.
CaptainSmirk... he just kinda... vanished and Trendy took over. Smirk had some witty lines, but he wasn't as awesome as Trendy.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

Well excuse me for having enormous flaws that I don't work on.
Interesting... I'm guessing he didn't like PWE? Hmm.
Trendy is without a doubt the most amazing community moderator I've ever seen, she truly goes above and beyond and does an excellant job of being a bridge between players and dev's. So thank you Trendy!
I know i give you hell sometimes but it's only because i love you. XD
The last time I saw someone that worked at Cryptic actually play the game (not test something) it was Brandon. It was awesome seeing him in Ker'rat or in a random PvP match. You don't see that EVER anymore.
Awesome provided you weren't one of the people who mysteriously got temp banned after killing him, at least.

Nah, he decided to move, and needed to find a job in the place he wanted to move to.

P.S. I never though I'd get a turnout like this! Never seen so many DEV'S at once!
