I'm genuinely curious if they have personal accounts they use in their off time or if they rather not even think about the game when not on the clock. Lol
So, do you guys have secret private accounts? Do you play often? What's your favorites ship class or build? Do you join fleets?
Thanks!

It's probably the same feeling musicians get when they listen to their own bands' songs, or actors get when they watch films or television shows in which they had roles.
Then again, I'm sure there are some developers who refuse to play games they've worked on for any purpose other than QA.

I'm curious what Trendy's toon looked like, can you describe it, her i presume? Faction, species, costume and all that? I'm curious what she chose to represent herself.
Probably a Ferengi or a Giraffe.

I can confirm this after seeing her toon on ESD one time maybe a month ago now or more.

He also made pvp events for fun... good old times.
Trendy does this often. So does Taco. It's cool. They try and answer questions as best they can, but they get flooded with non stop questions.
As far as playing the game, not sure how much game time they put in.
Most unexpectedly, this turned into a flame-fest! Closed it goes!. /sigh What flamefestery is this? pwlaughingtrendy
In addition, some Devs have Dev accounts. These are the accounts you see dressed in Pink, chatting with you in ESD, or joining in events after a launch. These are not accounts we really play with much, they're just public faces.
I will say for my part, I have always had trouble playing any games I've worked on. I'm mostly an explorational gamer. I enjoy discovering the world within the game, figuring out where things are, how everything connects, etc. It is very difficult to explore spaces you have built yourself. Even beyond the exploration aspect, there's a lot lost to me through "knowing how the sausage is made." That is to say, it's difficult to enjoy a game when you know how it was all made, who wrote the lines, put that spawn there, etc. Even worse when you spot errors. Rather than running past that wonky triangle, or dismissing that typo, every error is glaring you in the face the whole time. At least for me.
So, yes. Many devs play. When they play, they are probably playing privately.
You don't see us, because we play on our own, private accounts.
I built most of ESD's interior, but when I'm dressed in pink, I hang out there because it's the busiest hub of activity. I do go off to DS9, Drozana, First City once in a while, but generally I ESD is my main public space.
Also yes, my dev character is a black alien with bone spikes. My personal account's main looks very different. :P
I suppose as an extension, do you interact heavily with the player base like in fleets or do you dev's have your own private fleet?
It's sort of like, I have fun cooking for other people, and I *love* when other people cook for me. But cooking for myself? Not interesting at all. I make a sandwich and I'm done.
