Actually, as I've mentioned in interviews, I play the various systems of the game just like any other player. I just purchased another ship by grinding dilithium and trading it for Zen on the exchange, and I've upgraded my Borg space and ground sets (gained from maxing the Rep and getting the dilithium, marks, and BNPs) to Mk 14 by making my own superior upgrade kits -- after leveling my R&D schools to 15. (17 science, but who's counting?)
oh! interesting well, I do the same thing (I craft my own upgrades). the problem is not really the cost of the upgrade, i can live with it even if this is expensive
the main problem is the lottery when you upgrade something. sometimes we are really fu.... up when a bad mod is added to our gears (weapons etc). there is too much uncertainty when we use the Upgrade system.
something should be done to improve this system, because it is not very friendly for a lot of players, and when you like to create build; as I like to do; this system is very annoying.
btw, I'm glad to see that a dev uses everything in game, welcome in our hell

While dev accounts can get goodies for free, it's our choice whether we use them and how we decide to engage and play the game.
well, if I was you, I would use all the free goodies
In a way, I respect that even more, at least they can get a sense of the cost associated with upgrading that way, if all the devs just got whatever they wanted for free, they wouldn't experience the game on our level.
Granted, if I were a dev, I'd totally have one of each account, "The Super Duper Everything4Free Dev Account", so I could try stuff out at will, and a regular player account to play from the players perspective.
In that way they can get a good sense of how systems are working for us, and whether or not things need a tweek.
Though I'd agree senna, the random [mod] thing can get really frustrating ! Make a grown man cry, it can.
As someone who likes to collect and use rare weapons and equipment across the game I have no problem with it being expensive to upgrade but the randomness is pretty irritating.
I think my calculations put the cost of getting eight Protonic Polaron beam arrays [crtd]x3 somewhere in the ballpark of $80 in dilithium assuming a 25% chance of getting it per beam upgraded.
While I have no problem dropping a few hundred $$$ on this game from time to time that is a bit steep for my blood.
P.S. Constructive feedback is so much more effective then yelling guys.

If the sloth is anything like the gorilla (?) and lawnmower, I'm both fascinated and terrified at the same time.
Don't you mean what's in store for our Children?

Even by 2044 PvP still won't get a revamp... ;P
