(...)As big if not bigger than an Odyssey and easily twice the mass. So why 3/3 why not finally give science characters that little bit of DPS they've been lacking for nearly 6 years and give them 4/3? (...)
Just want to adress that: If you need weapons to add dps do your science build you're doing it wrong besides, what would that one fore weapon give you? A sci ship needs as much sci consoles as possible to deal damage. I agree however that 4 sci consoles and those stats are, from a science point of view, rather subpar compared to the Pathfinder/Intrepid and Nebula.
Interesting that you mention that, when the fleet version adds and extra eng slot, and not a 5th sci slot,,, considering its a sci ship?
It's a science carrier not a science ship. Every science carrier has only 4 science console slots.
Carriers by default, as in the very basic first models, have always had a Science main leaning. There is no such thing as "science carrier"; Science is the default main focus of a basic Carrier type ship. In addition to that, they've always had Engineering as a secondary focus.
You guys spouting off nonsense about "sci carriers" and "it needed more Tac" need to do your flippin' research into the ship class's history.
The new carrier is no difference than the Atrox really. Why are there only 2 hanger bays. If you are going to do a proper carrier. Then it should have a lot more than just 2. Also Why are there no dedicated Science Ships for the KDF and a better science ship for the Romulans. The KDF are the only faction in the game that are religated to have a max of 4 sci consoles in the game. You are forced to get a lobi store ship just to play a sci captain on those sides. If you are going to make a sci Carrier, make one that is has a proper sci console layout. Hell I will give up weapons slots if it means getting a extra hanger and sci console slot.
And the Atrox is.... say it with me..... a Carrier.
True carriers always have two hangar bays. It's what separates them from a flight deck cruiser or an escort-carrier, or a dreadnought, or an exotic support ship that has a hangar bay tacked on.
As for the other issues you are bringing up, this is not really the thread for them, though there are explanations.
I'm not sure what game your playing but there are plenty of 2 hanger non sci leaning carriers... the breen one is a good example. Also the reason they started to get referred to as sci carrier is mainly do to the subsystem targeting and 3/3 weapon lay outs that shared with sci ships.
Its a perfect example of a 3/3 carrier that's tac oriented...
I'm still hoping that with the feed back they relent and come out with odyssey type 3 pack...
This is like the new mother ship of the Federation.. the biggest ship Starfeet has and should have more then one option... 3/3 sci leaning carrier that has the same 2 hanger form a 1450+ meter ship.. just seems lacking imo..
New pilot ships being tac/sci/eng.. and its a escort....
I would be happy if they didn't even add different uni consoles like they did with the odyssey.. just boff layouts and console layout with the same skin and uni console... having more variety would also increase sells... and not alienate players.
I also like the idea of a dedicated light escort hanger.. so the ship has 3 hangers.. just one locked to those new light escorts.
The Breen Sarr Thelm still has a Commander Science.
ya.. and its still a tac leaning 3/3 sci carrier... and some of us would like this carrier to have a option to have this type of carrier.. and they could have a eng leaning one.. and we all can be happy with a ship that fits are play style...
It would be nice to get a 3 pack, or SA but we'll just be ignored and the new shiny T5.5 Carrier will be released.

Sub-par T6 because it's not a tacdreadnought carrier?
Not everything needs to be Lt. Com Tactical to be viable in this game. I for one happen to like the stats on this ship, primarily because I love carriers. I'm planning on eventually get it.

I wonder if the reason the ship hasn't popped yet is because they are taking *some* of the suggestions on board. Maybe it was due to drop with the pre Thanksgiving update but Cryptic have held back after seeing the voracity of the posts concerning the ship. They tweaked the Hestia post release, maybe they've adopted a similar policy here and have gone quiet because they are taking time to look at ways of keeping people with differing views on board.

Or maybe they just planned to release it as a form of christmas present all along. Or maybe they are hastily adding a klingon/romulan counterpart due to Trendy's efforts. Either way, I wouldn't hold my breath - the "contents of this post are subject to change" clause usually doesn't mean "if you complain, we'll change it" but "if we change it, you can't complain"

As long as it doesn't end up being the reward ship for the winter event...

Tell you what... if they did release it (with 2 faction equivalent ships) as the Christmas obtainable... that would shut some of the gripers up. Not that they will... I'm just saying if they did it would literally be a case of "it's free it costs you nothing but your time to get... take it or leave it, now stop harping on about it".
The rumor has it it's going to be breen Rezreth (a speculation based on it's presence in the admiralty system, with no ship icon released yet)... One thing's for sure: If cryptic ever releases anything remotely similar as a c-store ship, there will be tons of people complaining that it's not as good as this thing
As long as it doesn't end up being the reward ship for the winter event...
Still no info on that ship, either??
That could well be the case though.
Its not. Its already been shown that its going to be available in the C-Store and there will be a fleet version. Or did you guys not read the jupiter blogs like at all?
Ships like this really make me wish there was a way you could try a ship before you buy it. I don't know if I'd like it or not. I like carriers, but I hate science ships.

They should add more "shakedown" missions like the Odyssey/Bortas'qu Class had. It gives us a good look at the functionality and also gives us a guideline for a basic preliminary build for the ship as well. It doesn't even need to have dialogue or cutscenes, just the ability to spawn any type of enemy to fight against and maybe a "maneuvering course" to test its maneuverability

Also the Admiralty card for the Rezreth is an Eng focused card. Thus it seems that the Rezreth will have Comm Eng. Don't know much more really.

Isn't it a little funny that all of these new ships seem to be growing in size? Jupiter is confirmed at 1466 meters, and the Rezreth sits comfortably at about 1700 m long. What's next? The Tholian Tarantula?

Temporal Dreadnought in an R&D promotional lockbox (I wish it would be a regular lockbox but man that thing will be a monster).
Yes I know it's only appeared as an NPC in the battle for DS9 but it has been pictured on test servers inside the Dyson Sphere.
As long as it doesn't end up being the reward ship for the winter event...
Still no info on that ship, either??
That could well be the case though.
Besides the fact that they already told us what kind of ship it is and how to get it, it's a Federation vessel, they won't use a faction specific design as an event ship.

Yeah, I hadn't thought that through. What I'd like to emphasize though is that Trendy tweeted there is a good reason for the delayed release of this ship, and there is an ongoing speculation about that reason, yes?
other than the pattern, this ship has zero customization options...????really?.....we had 8 Designs, there was some serious discussion about those designs, likes and dislikes and so on, and now there are ZERO parts for customizations?.....omg allready starting to regret the buy, seriously wtf.......
EDIT: And whats Wrong with the Pets???
According to your Website:
Elite Callisto Light Escort
Availability: Dilithium Store
Weapons:
1x Quad Phaser Cannons (Fore)
1x Dual Heavy Phaser Cannons (Fore)
1x Photon Torpedo Launcher (Fore)
2x Phaser Turrets (Aft)
Abilities:
Torpedo: High Yield III
Cannon: Scatter Volley II
Scratch the Paint
Lock Trajectory I
But what we have in Game is, an additional SINGLE Cannon on the Front and the Second Turret Removed?
Also High Yield II instead of the High Yield III????
I really hope that this was an Mistake and not a last Minute Nerf
True alters don't have a "main". Account wide unlocks for all unique event and mission rewards!!
I am absolutely PISSED OFF that the Callisto Light Escorts are smaller than a damn runabout, they are the same damn size as the delta flyers with twice the HP and firepower?!?!! WTF!? I was so excited at the idea of having real raiders with a federation ship that I went all out, jumped in and bought the Elite Callisto Light Escort. Just to quickly realize my mistake in wasting 25 dollars; 200,000 fleet credits; and 64,000 Dilithium. I should have looked at other players first before letting Cryptic do this again. Really, smaller than a runabout, does anyone at Cryptic know how immersion works? Why would a ship only be able to launch 2 smaller ships per bay if it can already launch 4 larger ships from the same bay?
So now that you guys have your hands on this ship, what kinds of builds are you all using with this? Because I just don't see how this ship works with that boff layout.

Well as I said before, would have bought it, but its silly that all the other designs aren't like dif costume pieces or something, specially since the alpha omega kit bash worked so much better...
sure hope we have 100% happy Jupiter customers now..
