I would be happy if it had the andromedas boff seating and a more accurate lance

I typically see Gal-X users use the wide beam setting (ship separated) for the guaranteed AOE hits. But yes, single target fire had always been notoriously inaccurate. But I'm going on old info, not sure if anything has changed with the Phaser Lance.

I would suspect it has the exact same BOFF-layout but one more tac console instead of a sci one, making 5/2/4 Eng/Sci/Tac.

The T5 dreadnaught cruiser had the exact same layout as the explorer retrofit just minus one sci and plus one tac.

A Fleet Goomba had been asked for since the Fleet Shipyard System was implemented. There was a time that in the KDF, the Guramba was the most widely flown Escort for the faction in PVP and PVE. It was everywhere. Until the Fleet Shipyard System came about and the Fleet Defiant & Prometheus arrived with 5 TAC Consoles. The Guramba died down after that (there was a lot more of a PVP base in the KDF in those years). It's years too late but yes, it's very nice that it has come. Being T6 to boot, also.

Once again, "That Source" was right despite them pulling their page down a while ago, despite some people on these boards refusing to believe despite their past efforts showing what was to come. The T6 Galaxy-X / Guramba / Haakona was one of the last things they dug up and PRESTO! Here they are.

Oh wow that site totally changed and the author is being backed by Cryptic. Looks like the guy sold out. Hard.

I wonder how much stuff Cryptic gave him to stop looking into things.

Why would people purchase the Andromeda if the Yamato had access to the same boff layout and skins in addition to a phaser lance?

It is highly unlikely that the Yamato will get tactical above Lt.

Worked at T5. Should work at T6 (the same BOFF layout I mean). If you want three tac and three sci consoles you get the Andromeda, if you want four tac consoles, a hangar and a lance you get the Yamato. Although I think it's even possible the Yamato gets a LTC Uni.

You should very much expect T6 Galaxy-X to have at least LtCmdr TAC. The T5 Galaxy and Galaxy-X had very close BOFF layouts. The T6 Galaxy got a LtCmdr TAC. The T5 Gal-X had a decidedly more TAC leaning than it's Galaxy counterpart so it's a safe bet to assume the T6 Gal-X will get at least a LtCmdr TAC out of the deal. The T5 BOFF and Console layout just naturally point to it.

The only ship that Cryptic bucked its BOFF & Console trend is with the Fleet version of the Romulan Aehlal. The BOFF layout was decidedly ENG & TAC oriented but Cryptic made the Fleet version get a +1 SCI than a +1 TAC Console, which really hurt the usefulness of the ship.

But didn't we expect LtCmdr tac during the last refit as well?

If the same people are in charge for the Yamato as for the T5_U Galaxy-X then the Yamato will be engineering heavy and not tactical heavy. Isn't the federation, at least in their view, not all about exploration and mounting a strong defence? Therefore, again from their perspective, a federation dreadnought should be defensive and engineering heavy.

Time will tell, but i would not hold my breath for anything above Lt tactical. Maybe it will have 4-5 tactical consoles, but the boff layout is most likely low on tac.

If I can get my Fleet T5U Galaxy-X up to 40-50k DPS then why would I buy another 1?

Just fix the Lance and other parts that are off centered...but people shouldn't have to buy another 1 just for a clear fix of something broken for 2 years!

They don't. The visual fixes, the monarch skin and the Galaxy-Venture nacelles are free for everyone.

Well again, I point to what we already have in the game: Look at the T5 Galaxy and Gal-X BOFF stations and look at what the Galaxy got at T6. It indeed still is Super ENG heavy, retaining the Cmdr and LtCmdr ENG stations, yet it got a LtCmdr TAC out of it. The Galaxy-X at T5 was more TAC oriented than the Galaxy so again, I say it's safe to expect it getting LtCmdr TAC out of the T6 deal at least.

Like I said, I think it's likely for it to happen but Cryptic could do a 180. However, their T6 stat conversions of old T5 ships have generally followed a logical progression in how BOFF stations were handled. Nothing out of the ordinary but expected changes going to T6.

You asked why people have to buy a new ship to get the lance aligned. They don't. The fixed Galaxy skin, the new nacelles for the Galaxy and the Monarch-X skin come free for your T5 drad and Exploration cruisers. No need to buy anything.

To me the Galaxy Dread screams Tac and Eng heavy builds. It should tough as nails, and and kick like a mule. This ship was built for war, not exploration. Its a shame it didn't come out during the Iconian Fiasco. It would be a great time to bring it out.

The Galaxy-X was never about exploration it was an alternate timeline ship and had been tremendously upgraded to battleship status. That's one reason why it will be Tac heavier than the Andromeda, the other reason is that if they did what you suggest they would decimate their sales of this long sought after ship. I wouldn't be totally surprised if they went the whole hog and made it a Cmd Tac with 4/2/5, if they did that then they would sell so many ships they'd all be going to Tahita for vacation. However realistically I expect a LtCmd Tac, LtCmd Uni and 5/2/4.

The thing is that also goes for the T5U Galaxy-X and that got pawned with heavy engineering and little tactical.
In fact because the andromeda has LtCmdr Tac there is a strong possibility that the Yamato will NOT have LtCmdr or above. It would hurt sales of the Andromeda.

I could see them going for a more flexible seating like a commander engineer, Lt.com uni, Lt.com sci or engineer, than a Lt. tact, and maybe a ensign sci or tactical possibily uni. THat would give you the ability to make it the tactical heavy variant some would want, other could do a more enginering or science varient, and would go well with the Gal-x variant skin that is more of the prime-timeline galaxy design. I would be fine with this layout or with even just somethign similar to the andromeda T6 galaxy layout.

Is this the most heavily anticipated ship launch in STO history or am I very biased (ok I am). Awesome Cryptic, can't wait to see the stats.

no you are not biased, from gecko own word the galaxy x is the best seller ship in sto, period;)

the galaxy x have always been in this game a more tactical version of the galaxy retrofit, not the other ways around.

the fact that the tier 6 galaxy got a lt commander tact and 3 tact console is just because that the new common basis for tier6 cruiser nowaday, and most of the recent tier 5 cruiser as well.
it is not a role reversal with the galaxy x.
the tier 6 galaxy x with it 4 tact console will get a lt commander tact, minimum, guaranted.
giving this ship a lt sci instead of tact when he got 4 tact console and a lance would be completely illogical.

don't compared the tier6 galaxy version with the tier5 galaxy x version.

When it comes to stats for Galaxy variants (in this case the Yamato) the smart thing is to expect the worst.
