Still waiting to see if it comes with an updated skin for he Prommy. If it does, you've sold it to me. If not, I'll just get the new Akira.

How are people even thinking that the MVAE (with MVA console) is worse than a Pilot Escort!? In MVA mode you have 3 Escorts. That's the current module with all your present consoles and such, plus 2 'stock' Escorts. Now, that to me equals more DPS that 1 Pilot Escort. Now can you see the value of this ship??
I've had the MVAE for a few years now, and it still gets used, especially with the Bio-Phaser set and Quad Cannons, plus with it's LT Cmdr Sci seat, makes for a formidable opponent. With the trait for the new version, it has gained even more life!
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
Because like all separation pets they are utterly TRIBBLE, die in seconds and add almost no DPS.
Exactly.
I fell for this trick a while back when I bought the Ha'akona Warbird thinking it would be so cool to be able to pilot one half and have the other half helping or buffing me. It took only a couple of minutes to realize that I had flushed Zen down the toilet. Any ship that depends on AI as a large part of it's mechanic has already lost.
The best thing you can do with the Multi Vector console is right click on it and click discard.
The T6 Prommy had to come along eventually, if only because of the Prommy's place in canon.
I do agree the boff layout could be better, I think we were all expecting pilot spec, if only because it was logical, they could even have allowed pilot manoeuvres in MVM which would have helped matters. Still, it's comparable to the FPER the way I fly it so I'll be getting it and having a play with both Prommy consoles.
I think the Prometheus was my first cstore purchase back in the day. Took me about 20 minutes to figure out the pets were useless. Flying off randomly or dying in the warp core explosions of enemy ship's is what they were best at.

Same here. First game purchase, and almost immediate dissatisfaction with the pets. I loved the idea of it, and tried very hard to overlook the obvious problems, but in practice it was just an exercise in frustration.

Tell me. My first created character commands a Galaxy and never left it, out of principle, only for upgraded variants. The saucer is painfully useless - it doesn't do anything. Like at all. Aside from having a omni phaser beam - the tooltip says it will heal you (engineering team) but not even that. The pet is entirely broken and disfunctional. But I slot it anyway

Now the Oddy saucer is actually quite useful, throws a nice little grav well which is handy in Tau Dew runs. The Gal-X Saucer is TRIBBLE but at least its lance is just as useless as the main lance on the ship (not the widebeam which is actually pretty good). Yes, I'd say the only useful sep pet I've owned is the Oddy saucer.
The fact that the Gal-X saucer can separate at all is a travesty. But accepting that they should rework the Galaxy saucer to be the "support" pet as opposed to the X-pet which is the "combat" pet.
In theory: X phaser beam, dual cannon, (should get a torpedo launcher in addition), lance, antimatter spread
Galaxy, in theory should have: phaser beam, rear torpedo (it's TM approved), extend shields, engineering team, antimatter spread
I wouldn't mind a tractor beam as well. Just something.

In case of Galaxy, I fully understand the saucer is not meant for combat. The separation actually improves the rest of the ship. But for ships like the Prometheus or Haakona, the additional "pieces" should really work as separare ships with unique abilities because that's part of the reasoning for the separation in first place.

Yes, I always thought it would be better if the saucer just flew off and wasn't there at all.

Fact is, I like the Prometheus (and based on the couple pictures of it, the Hestia too) enough to possibly get it.
Why? Well, I need to fly ships I like seeing. Despite their obvious superiority, I can't use the FED Pilot escorts, nor the Phantom. And I've never been much of a fan of the Akira either (although the updated model looks nice). So if I want a FED ship (not the Chel Grett, not the Nandi or Risian corvette), I don't have much of a choice right now. (And a future T6 Defiant is unlikely to change that, I dislike it as well.)
EDIT: To provide an example to my foolishness, I actually have all the Galaxy variants and am considering using them simply because they look - notably after the model upgrade - gorgeous. I'm also very much looking forward to using the Kobali Samsar, despite it's stats being possibly even worse in the DPS crazed STO.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class. Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider. Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

In the shows yes it was a way to evacuate the civilian population of the Enterprise whilst the secondary hull controlled from the battle bridge could gain extra manoeuvrability and hold off the enemy whilst the saucer escaped. However in the game it acts as a combat pet, and a pretty poor one at that.
Exactly. I mean everything in STO is tailored around combat, even the hospital ships are. So the saucer could very well be useful, not as a damage dealer but as a support (reinforce shields, heal/clear disables, some minor fire support or tractor beam is all I'm asking for). But unless separation pets get their own AI behaviour/control they will remain little more than a gimmick, sadly.

Honestly to me i wish they would make it that while you have the seperation console or feature on a ship, that you gain a hanger-pet/boff gound-ground like UI to give commands to your ship's seperated parts in combat. It would even be nice to have a UI that lists the abilities your seperated ship has kinda like how the boffs in ground combat work, which than you can either manually control when they use abilities by either clicking them as being auto-use or manual use. This would make it that it would reward micro-managing your pet/seperated parts well, though even abit of a buff to the survivability of your seperated parts would be nice. Not sure how hard it would be to make such changes to the sperated pets an ship, but i think it would make these ships more desirable or atleast not feel like such a waste to some.
It would be also nice when we have multi hanger pet of varied types from a single group, like the fed pets, Breen, Xindi that they would have a varied layout of weapons on them. The reason i bring this up is that with the Coordinated Assualt trait that makes it that your hanger pet's use either beam overload or cannon rapid-fire whenever you use beam overload or cannon rapid-firewithin 10Km of your pets. Right now with the Xindi all of their pets use beam banks or arrays making using cannons on such hanger using vessels kinda worthless if you want to use the trait with either cannons or a mixed cannon/beam build. It would be nice to have a veriety of beam focused, cannon focused, and Mixed cannon/beam pets with maybe one group that might focus on using torps as well. Also would be nice to have a torp high Yield varient added to the Coordinated assualt too.
Hoping we might get a T-6 version of the Patrol escort, even though i do like the look of the advanced escort's look the patrol escort to me just speaks more to me an looks more appealing to me. Kinda this the eng/command hybrid seat of this ship would have went with the patrol escort better than the advanced an making a eng/pilot or sci/pilot seata better option.
At the very least, the Hestia will work where T5 MVAE worked. And I have used the MVAE before. So yeah, if I feel I want to use an escort on my FEDs and have the Zen at hand, the Hestia is the way to go. Regardless of its obvious shortcomings.

I considered purchasing the MVAE a while back simply because i want to make a mirror escort build with nadeon bomb and Multi vector assault mode, but i decided to hold off on it.
Maybe, hopefully, with this new T6 prometheus variant the multi vector problems will be addressed.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Don't forget that each section gains different bonus. Section Alpha is destroyer-like while Beta and Gamma are speed demons. This is why it's a useful console.
I'm not a "sir", unless you are serving under me But you'd be surprised how much punishment Targs can take. I'm still playing this game, for example

It has no improvements compared to any one of the pilot escorts, which are better in every way.
Dead on arrival.
Meh. The steady demand for "I win buttons" on new ships is kinda annoying. You are correct that the pilot escorts are just ridiculous with their invulnerability features, but that still doesn't mean the T6 Prometheus is "DoA".
People complained that the T6 Galaxy was DoA or the T6 Intrepid a piece of junk because they didn't provide that button. Yet, I see more Galaxies, Negh'Vars, D'Ds or Intrepids than I see pilot escorts or command cruisers. Canon ships will always sell and they provide the possiblity to continue your style of gameplay when you liked the previous versions of the ship. Sure, for people just pushing numbers that would use a flying outhouse if it came with a "I win button" the T6 upgrades of canon ships are indeed worthless, I guess.
Was the Prometheus ever that popular really? It wasn't an iconic ship fans went nuts over was it?
The Prometheus and Defiant used to be VERY popular Escorts years ago. Before the Fleet Shipyard/Ship system came out, the C-Store Defiant & Prometheus were good, solid Escorts. This was a time before 5/2 layouts, "Destroyer" themed Escorts (Escorts with LtCmdr ENG) came out, and the SCI-Scort was the sole domain of the Prometheus.
When the Fleet Shipyard/Ship System came out, the Fleet Defiant & Prometheus then had 5 TAC Consoles. Back in the day that was a *HUGE* deal because the only 5 TAC Escort before that was the JHAS. The KDF did not have a 5 TAC Escort until Delta Rising hit in October 2014 and the T6 Mat'ha Raptor came out.
You began to see less and less of the Defiant & Prometheus due to the newer ships and Power Creep.
Anyways, yes, Prometheus used to be around in big numbers among the Fed playerbase. There was always a need for a SCI-Scort and the Prometheus has its fans in the game. Not as vocal as Defiant ones but they're definitely there.
Come on Cryptic ,you need to LOOK OVER OUR FEEDBACK AND BUFF THE SHIP ,5 forward 3 atf , is a idea to make it compareable ,or 4 forward 4 aft ,,,,,and we need the Lt TAC to be universal ,so we can use command bo powers with out giveing up all our eng heals . Please dont make the Mult Vec a throw away ship ,,, fix it ,,its way under classes...
