We now have our very own subreddit, even sporting an Andorian Snoo: https://www.reddit.com/r/startrekbattles/
Should be a good place to discuss more specific topics and keep some information more readily available than is possible in this thread.

I'll have to add you guys and check it out, My Nebula only runs Phasers, no torpedoes, so she is out, but my Ambassador and Galaxy-X are game. Might be the perfect group to run with my Heavy Cruiser as well Fed side anyways.

My KDF toons predominantly run Disruptors, so no problem there.

Plasma or Disruptors for Romulans with you guys?

Either or. If you want to be really pedantic, Disruptors for the Imperials and Plasma for the Republic, but no one really cares. I love the look of Romulan Plasma beams, so I use those, and I've recently switched my cannons to Plasmatic Biomatter (since they use the normal cannon pulses instead of the particle effect heavy plasma ones that look terrible on lower detail settings).

I'm not going to that one, I'm not sure why, but I'm not interested, but I'd join (or host) a STB run. I'm been pondering the idea of Enterprises, (or maybe include Defiant (I just lost a while, thankfully there is a partial draft.) and Intrepid) but I'm not sure what you think. If I do decide I'm going to do it, I'll post it on The Reddit, Here, and on The Steam Group. (It is very lonely there. Nobody has joined....) steamcommunity.com/groups/STBTL

EDIT:Thanks to Tyrinius, I have been informed that it was invite only. It is now hopefully set for public.

We could run a TV Show run. TOS Enterprise, NX, Enterprise D, Defiant, Intrepid. And if you want to get technical Runabouts since that is about all they had the first few seasons of DS9. I'll be on this weekend for any excitement.

I do see that there has been some replys here so my apologies for not keeping up.

For the T1 runs.. I'll always be happy to run those with them or STB... Saturday might be busy but Sunday should be good.

    Greetings Captains 07

I just wanted to say that last night was SICK!!!!

We had an ISN with the following ships
    - 3 Mirandas (Miranda wing FTW!)
    - 1 Excel (well.. NOT T1 T6 actually BUT we asked to have the consoles limited to 1 each and powers limited to lt.)
    - 1 Oberth (NO Krunt!.. this does not mean you can start running yours! :p )

One of the Captains of the Miranda said something like... this is how it SHOULD feel playing STO. Ships were blowing up left and right... phasers and torps were flying... hearts a racing! at the end of it I really felt like I EARNED those marks. It was just plain ol' fun.

We REALLY had to fight to blow up the transformers... at both points the health of the transformer was at 10% & the nanites were 10.5 km away and we just BARELY blew it up before they healed it... THAT was going thru 2 waves of em to boot!

We of course lost both optionals and I think it took us like 20+ minsish? BUT it was AWESOME! It actually felt like the battles we had pre DR when we had our weapons power down or mk of weapons limited and really relied on teamwork to finish the mission. With DR hitting the goal then became, for some, to see how far we could push canon builds. I myself have tried to push my build but find myself not wanting to at times as things sometimes go boom fast.. LOL.

With DR and it's current state.. it's not always possible to have those types of runs as most if not all, including myself, are busy with daily stuff... and that's ok. Lately my focus is doffing and grinding out dill in the Voth BZ but I always try to get some runs of pewz in before heading off and I'm always gratefull to those who take the time to pewz with me.

I encourage ANYONE who wants to run some themed stuff to just ask in chat and see what interest pops up... it may be just 1or 2 others but for me that's good enough.

In these themed runs we may start asking once again to lower weapons power or boff powers IF all is in agreement to enjoy the mission a bit more. Goal of these runs is NOT to get the optionals BUT it doesn't mean we are not going to try our darndest. Also they do take more time than most to be prepared for that as well.

I wanted to again thank you Captains who did that ISN with me... look forward to always doing more.

Of course we can't talk about having a T1 run without you.. hahhaah...

I would be totally interested in this but like many themed PvP's we've had before I encourage it to have all involved on a level playing field.

Like I mentioned above.... that could be limiting consoles and boff powers.. again just to level the playing field. Using a Connie Vs and Excel even non T6... the Connie would be out classed. I know there are some who don't like the idea but I'm just throwing that suggestion in there.

It's very much like "vanilla" pvp where it tries to keep it level across the board.

I would be able to bring the Connie (T2) to the mix.. I do also have the fleet D7.

Availability wise.. for me.. I'm on every night... been getting late as of usual due to RL.. but Tuesdays & Saturday nights are my latest nights so I may miss primetime but that's ok.... go for the best time where the most people can attend.

    My 2 EC's

I've babbled enough and my face is STILL hurting from that ISN... HAHA.. USS NOT IN THE FACE! also from smiling on how FUN that was...

TC and see you in game Captains 07

Hi Waldo - that was a fun PVE yesterday, both on Nukara and against the Borg. For balance's sake, you might want to match Enterprise-class cruisers vs. K'Tinga's, since I think they're both Tier II.

  • waldotrekwaldotrek Member Posts: 319 Arc User
Yeah Nukara was fun. Such an underrated PVE. Now on to our Connie vs K'Tinga's discussion. Would be fun only way to really be fair about it is to 1) run Excelsior vs K'Tinga for a more even match. 2) restrict the D7's in the match to maybe 2 fore 1 aft if fighting Connie's and match up the console and BOFF slots or run 2 fore 2 Aft if using the TMP Connie. 3) run 2 Connies to every 1 D7. I think it's important to make sure no one in the PVP is being felt like they are getting ground on by an overly superior vessel. I would say go for the TOS feel of classic KDF vs FED.

Finally the ISN last night was awesome. Really felt like "this is Star Trek"! I had a lot of fun! 07 Captains!

Captains! We ran our D7 vs Connie PVP event tonight and it was lots o' fun!! Ok it was more like a lower tier KDF vs a lower tier Fed PVP but still everyone had a great time! Lots of fun debate as well as to what should and should not be allowed if PVP among are group is allowed (Rep powers, Captain abilities, use of Cloak, etc) Still I think this is something our group could enjoy doing for those in the group who would like to try a STB themed PVP. And as always Thanks for all the great runs!

I've been talking with members of my fleet, as we have more roleplayers than hardcore PvPers, and getting a bit of positive feedback. We really try to stress community fun over excess competitiveness and are for the most part a PvE fleet. Hopefully I can put a team together that follow your fun rules so we can double the participation. Great excuses for me to use my T'liss on a doffing toon that isn't repped out. R.R.W. Mothball.

I'm always glad to see interest in our little world at STB...

I wouldn't say we are hardcore PvPers by any means.. I myself DO NOT like PvP and just do it to help people with their builds OR join in on STB events which with everyone I ended up having fun but it's still not an aspect of the game I wish to pursue hardcore. I think what made it fun was that we all tried to make it as level as we could and in the end treated each match as just a game... you win great... you lose.. great. I really do like the guidelines that we've come up with in the past. I'd go a step further at times but from what I've seen some do like the restrictions but that mostly came from people outside of STB and I get it... they've "worked" their buns of to get uber gear only to enter an STB PvP match with MK XII white gear :D . I guess the better term, to me, would be "invested a lot of time to aquire the gear".

For me, PVE is mostly what I do and most do of the ones active in STB. I quite enjoy feeling like I'm saving the galaxy over.. and over.. and over again! hahha! But we do anything that is suggested in chat... especially if I'm free I'll join a story mission or whatever is on the menu as it's always funner to do the STO content with other peeps.

The PvP stuff is just a bonus where Captains like to see certain scenarios that PVE content doesn't cover.

I've always tried to encourage a positive atmosphere in STB and to date I've personally only had to do very VERY MINOR moderating. There will always be difference of opinions amongst people but it should always be talked about rather than flammed about. There are a great group of Captains in STB whom I've had the pleasure of meeting and always hope to meet more.

Please feel free to call out anything in chat to see who can join you and hopefully I or others can get in on that as well.

    See you in game 07

Our Fleets are by no means PvP Fleets, but we do run parsers, in STFs, just as a means of experimentation. We have very little tolerance for what I call DPS shameing. There are many people who are afraid to enter even friendly PvP matches, so I think your format looks like a nice friendly competition means of doing things.

One thing we have had success with is reinacting the Battle of Chintaka. Cardasian, JEM Hadar, Breen ships, and people with holoemitters for them vs everyone else.

But personally the idea of going Balance of Terror in a T'liss just makes me giddy.

I've mentioned this before when first starting STB that it was more for STF's but we also had our own PvP themes like Dominion War, Carriers vs Shuttles, Raiders vs Capital ship & the most recent Connie vs D7's. I personally liked the Dominion War one just cuz... only had 4 attend but the match was fun but there was a lot of restrictions on that one which I didn't mind at all.

We also use parsers to see where each others builds are at but, like your fleet, we NEVER use it to shame anyone. THAT is NOT tolerated in STB and I will personally deal with it if it comes up.

Whatever the run of the night is the MAIN purpose of STB is just to have fun... pewz like ST.. nothing more... and if I/we get to take some people down with us.. well so be it! :#

Just to add to that. I am probably the captain with the highest DPS STB fed ship in the channel, scoring 45k. I am also a Channel Admin, and I'd like to get this straight: We do not, under any circumstances support DPS-shaming in ANY way!
If you go STB you go there for canon love. You actually go there for ENJOYING to sometimes fail. If that's not something you like, this channel is not for you!

It's been a while since I checked in here, last time I paid attention to the channel was before DR. So since then has there been like a revised minimum loadout for ships to participate? I've had a quick look and can't find anything, and the OP hasn't been updated.

Since DR hit the OP has been changed a little with edits here and there the biggest one being that the dps cap has been lifted.

In regards to loadouts... still trying to keep it CANON.

If there are any other questions tho please feel free to ask here or in game.

I just wanted to give a HUGE shout out to the following Captains/Sub Commander

    Setek
    Rodan
    Blaze
    Kinanra

We FINALLY beat one of the missions that was egging STB since DR hit.... Breach ELITE!

With GREAT teamwork and a good plan going in provided by Kin... we were able to execute it with flying colors. It actually felt like Advance and it really went smooth. The only thing we did different was concentrate on the cores in the 2nd last phase rather than trying to clear the Voth first. I think we also had like 10 mins or so to spare..

It's those types of missions that involve teamwork that I truly enjoy as it really feels like we earned it as a team!

After we decided to hit Hive Adv... Before the changes made to the options and before the changes to their shield draining and STB team had already beat Hive Adv. with like a second to spare. Since the changes to the shield draining we have had a couple of attempts but failed due to the timers.

Last night we completed it again... didn't get the optional for getting thru the guards but had about 9 mins to spare. Really, after the first phase it really felt like a Hive normal haha!

So again... GG Captains! Last night was a blast... Now if we can hit up Hive Elite.. I'd REALLY be happy but for now there is no rush but it's nice to have a goal but there is that fine line between challenge and boring.. here's looking at you HP sponges!

Oh and FYI... our avg dps in last nights team was about 21k... which is more than enough to handle most elites I think.

I look forward to the next things STB accomplishes but really... I just look forward to the next fun/pewz we have.

TC and see you in game Captains 07

    No problem.

I just want to clarify a little further.... STB is NOT about dps BUT having said that missions like Hive elite will require a min 50k with a good mix of ships from what Vel mentioned in chat.

TBH.. I'm quite happy to do just advances and I think the avg just needed for those is just around 10k especially now a days with the auto fail feature gone.

The Elite missions are there to challenge and should be challenge but IMO should'nt be something that you shoot at for 10 mins straight to down 1 npc as that would get boring.

Korfez has some really nice elements to it which I do quite enjoy and I'd like to see some more of that in future missions.

The MAIN goal is to have fun the ST way.. that's it.

See you in game Captains 07

    Trizeo here.... AGAIN... hahaha

I just wanted to share with you that Star Trek Battles has a fleet named after it.

HUGE shout out to Zero and his kind gesture to start one let alone name it after the STB.

I've known Zero since I started playing STO and he's been VERY helpful to me and others.

This is an open invite to anyone who would wish to join the STB fleet. It is not required to join it but it is there for anyone to come and join.

We still do have T5 fleets that do support STB which is there also for anyone that needs them.

Thank you Zero again and see you in game 07

    Oh nice! Very nice!

And yeah, damn that Breech Elite was a blast! I just wanted to test the Tank-setup I made for my T6 Galaxy. And then we... beat it! So awesome!

@coupaholic: That was a very specialized run with the few captains in the channel that try to push the limits. Our usual runs involve anything from 2k to 70k DPS and we don't really care about numbers (unless we try beating something like breech elite). So join us! We mostly care about it looking good! :D

I thought I should probably let you all know, I'm not going to be able to log on for a while at the moment, as my computer problems have got a lot worse, so much so that I am going to take it in for "repairs" tomorrow(today) so it can sit around for 14 days/1 month before they write it off for scrap, and I buy a new computer.

So, in the meantime, good luck with all your runs, have fun, and try not to blow up too much while my ships are in spacedock. What am I saying, you will blow up less without me.
