This is why we can't have nice things. They get abused. I would like to have polls, since they can be situationally useful, but it's gotten quite out of hand.

Funny, there were polls on the old forums but it's like wow everyone is poll happy. need to remove that feature, along with animated signatures and avatars. Both are being abused to extremes.

I think its just the newness and the fact we can actually make our own. Give it time, and I'm sure the number of polls will drop.

How do you "abuse" a poll? Everyone and their dog thinks he has to create polls for every nonsensical brainfart crossing their mind, that's true, but technically they don't "abuse" the function. They just use it in a superflous way.

People may be poll crazy right now, but it will eventually taper off.

So, no real abuse of the new feature.

Collecting "me too"'s is useless whether they are in the form of a poll or actual posts.

Hopefully people will get tired of posting these.

This is a Poll about Polls, why is it still open? There are supposedly too many of them around.

It has gotten a bit overwhelming, what ever happened to asking questions or expressing ideas in a post. Shoehorning usually loaded answers to loaded questions is no fun.

How about a limit of say 3 polls per user per week? (Arbitrary figures.)

No. People are using them because they're now a feature, just as the ability to use smilies and write actual messages. There's nothing wrong with polls. The problem before (IIRC) is that people assumed that whatever a poll resulted in, meant that was going to be acted on when it wasn't.

If someone creates a Poll, they do so off their own backs, and the results are those of the community. Cryptic doesn't have to take any notice of polls if they don't want, and the community should be fully aware of that.

Yup, everybody creating stupid polls that leads to nothing, actually, and most of these polls never include the "NO" vote. Its like "what do you think about this, yes or yes, just tell me what you think"... im afraid all the beginners will start creating polls about things that are vastly discussed through all these years (it is what is happening) and things that were settled time ago.

Why have it if you can't use it? IMO the only thing that makes this BORING forum alive. I do miss the other one since it was mobile friendlier and easier to search for what you wanted it. At least these polls are FUN and lifted the boredom from this side. :D

Yes, far too many pointless polls. There's a reason most game forums have polls disabled.

Somewhat, probably. But I'd expect to see many, many polls over time that are created either to troll or to create complaints in the form of a poll. There's a positive side, too, which is why I'm not voting it one way or the other.
