there are pvp games f2p without grind....there is no such thing as grind in pvp. What killed pvp is the thing called geko.

Look at other games online most PVP games are having a hard time retaining customer base. Customer base =$$$ So since most gammers are now casual and not hard core PVPers it makes great $$$ sense to make more PVE games.

What a load of utter TRIBBLE.
Best selling games for several years now are games with strong competitive MP/PvP component.
And in MMO world as well most popular games are PvP games.

Other bestsellers are legendary franchises with great singleplayer campaigns and gameplay.
STO now has nothing from those 3 elements.

    BTW

    Star Wars Battlefront 3 trailer
40 players competitive MP/PvP battlefield style with RPG elements + space fighter MP, 1st and 3rd person mode, new gen graphics in Frostbite3 engine. comes out in November.

GTA V now on PC, Witcher 3 next month. Bloodborne one of best ARPGs now on PS4, Mass Effect 4 coming soon.
MGS V also in November. When you look at any of these games you see just how much STO is outdated in all departments.

I think what is really a shame is that PVP actually died back in March 2010, Season ONE. Because that was when they released FvF and should have been the starting clue that everything was Fed based..and despite any true additions to PVP (Which have been about 2.. maybe 3 depending on if you count PVP Queue updates..which then broke..)
You think that your beta test was bad?

Traits and Specializations, thats why. When people PVP, before they go into a battle they do thier best to have the best advantage to win and right now that consists of the best ship traits and maxed specialzations. That takes time alot of time. So the reason PVP is dead is becasue all the PVP players are building up thier traits and spec trees so when they do PVP it won't be a slaughter fest.

In the mind of a PVP player they think that thier enemy has all the Good traits, ships and a max specialization tree. So when they pvp they want to at least be on a equal playing field. PVP is dead because of that.

Give it about 1 more month and you will see a comeback to PVP like never before. Once everyone gets all the Traits and specs they need/want. Then the PVP arenas will be back in full force. That is of coures if the people haven't got burned out and quit before reaching Godhood with all the new stuff.

Except that we're not. We're simply not playing. A few are dabbling, but not many. We're gone.

PvP is dead mainly because of the eternal LAG and it will be more dead if they won't fix t4 ico passive. That's the sad truth :(

Was shocked to see only 165 players in opvp, it used to be 550+ when LoR got released.

Guess the last few (and especially the most recent one) seasons didnt end well for PvP :(

The only reason PvP is at an all time low is the huge gap between newcomers and existing pvpers.

Be gone for a year, you have 1 year to catch up grinding new toys, traits etc to become competitive.

Its not so much the imbalance factor imho. If with 1 snap of my fingers i could make all traits, toys, paid ships, etc free and no grind time investement, i bet a very large majority of ex PVPers would come back without a doubt.

PVP has issues that need to be fix but the major issue is STO PVP is outdated. Queue based PVP in 2015? PVP in 2015 is a open world sandbox style PVP where no player is safe. After players are finish playing the content, a majority of them want to battle each other in space. There needs to be a PVP only server where players can fly around and attack each other using the same maps. What is going to happen when the full release of Star Citizen launches ? Elite Danger is already out there. I still don't understand why STO is ignoring the most important part of a game like this which is the PVP. Content brings people into the game but great PVP keeps players coming back . Star Trek is a iconic franchise and could be so much more if this game had the same type of PVP the other major space combat games have.

Power creep is extreme. No way a newish player can compete without dropping a few K in Federal Reserve Debt Insturments.... Even geared people do not enjoy stomping mismatches unless they have a mental illness (quite a few of those still roam Kerrat...).

Im sure they will come back to tap their spacebar to success lol

really if any vet pvp player would come back would be to laugh at those 2-3 pve heroes left who roleplaye pvp in what once was pvp arena.

pvp is dead because cryptic made it so. They are stubborn about it too much to their demise. That is why they have to do propaganda stunts like the DR toons to get people back in. THe population of OPvp is a direct result of cryptic's actions.

People are tired of cryptic and their ways. PvPers, in order to test all the gadgets and gizmos in the game and to find out how to be competitive, buy lots of stuff. What this tells me is that cryptic has lost a lot of revenue due to their antics, and now they have to do publicity stunts like DR toons, and capitalizing (i.e. nickle and diming) on every little thing in the game.

Hell, in the beginning of the DR toon release, the bonus bar was being maxed very early. Now, we go almost a full week before we even hit tier 1. I even heard from people that one night at almost 2am, the bar suddenly "burped" and advanced. Must be cryptic tweaking it because they know people don't like a 2nd job of grinding out their supposedly fun content. The people don't like your methods, cryptic. Get it through your thick skulls.

Anyway, what you buy today is already obsolete, because that is cryptic's business model. You think your JHSS or Manasa is da bomb? wait until the pilot ships are released. This is the way cryptic works and it is called power creep. I have seen devs time and time again post how they are very careful about power creep and try not to step over the line. I call BS to that!

The borg STFs were hard when they first came out. Then, due to power creep, they got very easy. THen cryptic had to rework them to give them back their challenging aspect, and it worked. But now, they are a joke again. Need anymore proof of power creep? I wouldn't think so.

its kind of amazing what a foreign concept most of whats important to pvp must be to those parse addicts. how many times do they need to be laughed at to their faces every time they bring up DPS and PVP in the same sentence? regardless, they would be great at pvp if they gave it a try, due to items and ships and all the levels of P2W so effectively replacing skill completely.

I literally pissed myself laughing when I read your recite of that PvE heroe's statement throughout your reply. That's some heavy ego-roleplay thingie right there. Too bad I missed it xD
It would have been an enjoyment to sweep this individual away countless times until his fingers are swollen and worn to the bone from hitting the respawn button. :D

"PvP-Players do not parse" lol everybody stands up and keep silent for one minute please :o

The haughtiness and pride among certain PvE-Players must have ascended to a level of sheer hilarity. Maybe one day they would want to assert themselves as being invulnerable and indestructible to anyone else.

If you have the opportunity you could link this postcard in a dps league channel with greetings from an ignorant pvp newb who dared to challenge one of those 40k dps scimitar heroes with a cookie-cutter escort a long time ago. :p

Lets be honest though the... you guys won't fight my PvE boat comes from a real place. This game became a joke a long time ago. I mean at some point I think we have all got the wanna fight Tell from the moron in the high dps shimitard. I know I have told at least one such player to buzz off there was no challenge. I'm sure they took that as an ego boost instead of a comment on the state of the game. Really though who cares. Game has always been a 5v5 game... in a team match lots of unfocused PvE style DPS is great vs pugs and that's all.

Ah, lol. Krieg. He came one day to OPvP and challenged 10 shuttles to fight his FAWmitard.
Me, Edna, Ash and few others accepted. Ash vaped his FAWmitard with BO1 with a shuttle in first 20 secs of the game. I was 20km away and it was so much win. LOL

But yeah, few times last week when some DeepSers brought this subject up i linked my vid where their DPS leader and guru with friends get wrecked by me and Ad Infinitum 15:0.

But yeah, devs have found perfect platform in DPS craze to milk remaining game population.
    We PvPers lost. GG?
