In fairness the bug ship was a lockbox purchase and the upgrade was free. So no money was wasted in making it a T5U.
It's the principle mostly, the idea that its pot luck whether you're paid into a ship that's going to get a T6 variant or not. The way its being handled is rather poor, and frankly its unnecessary in the first place.
Ten soldiers wisely led will beat a hundred without a head. - Euripides
I no longer do any Bug Hunting work for Cryptic. I may resume if a serious attempt to fix the game is made.
You can go on and on about the upgrade thing all ya want, but it's been very obvious that They have been planning to release previous ships in a T-6 mode to most of the rest of us for quite some time.
Denial only shows a conscience level of ignorance, it doesn't change the facts.
You are obviously NOT getting the argument here.
With the launch of DR, for those people that got an Upgrade Token for their favorite ships (like the intrepid, Galaxy, etc.) before all this hooey started with the Pathfinder. Especially when the developers stated forth-right that a T5U ship would not be obsolete and here they are remaking the same ships as T6? What does that say? They even said that the Guardian Class was their T6 ship in honor of Galaxy and Ambassador Classes, so right there is a pretty clear indication that the Guardian was to fill that role now. Look at the new Bug ship, now lock box ship are no longer safe. Guess my Galor must be next.
So everyone that bought a upgrade token before all of these T6 reboot ships, the ones that were told "Hey, don't worry... you're safe to buy that upgrade token for your favorite ship" You're pretty much calling them idiots and they should have known better, huh? In essence, what you are saying is DON'T buy ANYTHING because it's going to get replaced by something better! Don't buy those T6 ships, they will be obsolete when the next tier of ships is introduced.

Please for the love of god, and for everyone that has been asking for the Galaxy class to be revamped, please give it better tactical abilities. And by that I dont mean a Lt tac and ensign universal slot. Give it some proper teeth.
Ok, I see that what I so much hate about the KDF screenshots is how the textures appear. Even on the Hi-res shots Trendy just posted it seems there's no detail on the ship at all, just the model and no textures on it.
Hopefully that's just the images and not the final product (as with the Command cruisers, they seemed to have a similar problem on screenshots, but worked better ingame - though their models were still terrible). That said, I'll still probably use the Negh'Var or Vod'leh skins, so no big deal.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class. Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider. Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.
First, Cryptic, THANK YOU FOR LETTING US USE CLASSIC SKINS. Having the power and playability of a T6 ship while using the costumes for the iconic ships I know and love (Gal, Neggy, D'd) is really quite a selling point for me. I look forward to seeing the stats and prices though (Please, please, please don't gimp the mobility of these ships as you did with the old versions. Keep them as agile as the T6 Command Battle Cruisers, and you've got a sale).
Well, let's see, with the above and the Intrepid behind us, off the top of my head, that leaves the Sovie, Defiant, Vor'cha, BoP, and Mogai as some of the major Hero Ships we haven't seen given T6 rebirth. What else?
With the new Pilot Spec coming, I really hope we've seen enough Cruisers. Escorts/raiders would seem appropriate... Though I expect we'll get a wave of Lockbox/Lobi, then Summer event, ships first, when the cycle comes back around to C-Store ships, hopefully we'll get a new Defiant, Mogai, and BoP.
KDF and Romulan forces really need T6 Science ships. Forgive my ignorance, are there any from canon that would fulfill the Sci role? If not, Cryptic needs to step up and create their own.
You can find/contact me in game as @PatricianVetinari. Playing STO since Feb 2010.
Concurrent with the release of these Tier 6 ships, we have also updated the look of the original Galaxy and NeghVar starships to better match their counterparts from Star Trek canon.
Tbh, I knew those upgrade tokens were a trap from the very beginning and everyone should have seen this coming a country mile away. Cryptic wanted to redo the classic ships, they can't just update the model and sell it as a new one they have to create a new ship with a new console to justify the developer time. Don't get me wrong I'm not covering for Cryptic what they did was pretty sly from a business standpoint, as was the **** up with the intrepid interior in what was a big mistake on their part.
All that being said though, I'm DELIGHTED that they're finally giving the Galaxy class some love. It's taken years and THOUSANDS of forum posts, but it's finally happening. Let's hope they give it a little more than a paint job as the Gal-R in the "Galaxy Pack" was an utter let down.

^QFT We are all suckers... some more than others and then there are some who want recompense.
Nice to see some of the iconic ships get remastered, I guess now it's essentially guaranteed that the Defiant, BOP and at least one Romulan escort type ship will get this treatment also.
None of them excite me enough to buy them though, just not my playstyle.
Now when you release a T6 Vesta refit....then i'll get my wallet out again.
I just want to say DAMN YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! * Throws money at screen* Here I was hoping to have a little time to replenish my wallet and you go and so this!!!
I have to say the Andromeda is one SEXY looking ship!!! WANT MORE PICS!!!!! and ow yeah
* hands wallet to C. Ryptic* Here ya go!
On a more serious note: WOOOOW!!! Now the only question is All 3 or 1 or 2? I JUST DONT KNOW!!!! MUST SEE STATS!!!!
Ow yeah,,, is there going to be a ship sale coming up? I ponied up a lot of Zen for the command ship bundle then 2 weeks later it was on sale Made me an unhappy camper for a little bit,, but I got over it
PS: Cant wait to start new Delta Recruit!!! Its going to be fun Binge running missions again,.. haven't done that in a while!!!

Tbh, I knew those upgrade tokens were a trap from the very beginning and everyone should have seen this coming a country mile away.
Were they though? They upgrade tokens served a temporary purpose, no different to buying an R&D or Doff pack. I would like to think that anyone who purchased an upgrade token used it on a ship that they actually fly, thus they have had use out of that.
"Tired of all the Engineering console slots? Ok! Have a.... Science slot."
"Don't like the boff layout? Ok! The Lt. Tac seat is now a universal. You got your changes, now get off our back."

"You know those galaxy ships you've already paid for several times? Here's a new one for $30... and it still hasn't fixed the gal-x!"
"Give us more money for fixing things we should have done right in the first place!"
I like that there is a new more accurate galaxy model coming, but really, they're just punishing fans and people that buy on day one, buy taking advantage of their love of the iconic Galaxy class. I bought the Galazy-x, I picked up a refit and a fleet version, i got screwed out of the bundle savings because i'd already purchased stuff, which means no bonus', but now there is an all new version for even more money.
Needless to say, Cryptic isn't seeing any real money from me anymore.
On the plus side, it's always nice to see a little love for Romulan and Klingon ships, with the new parts that are being added.
Please for the love of god, and for everyone that has been asking for the Galaxy class to be revamped, please give it better tactical abilities. And by that I dont mean a Lt tac and ensign universal slot. Give it some proper teeth.
I starting to think that the only way the DPS mongers in this game will be happy is if they give a cruiser tactical ship seating or some unique seating like the Palisade.
it has been said, that its not "completely impossible" that t6 variants of iconic ships would appear.
and: t5u was meant to be a "choice" so you didnt have to buy the guardian, phantom etc to play further.
its never been said or meant to be t6 alternative. just an alternative towards the new intel ships.
so people who made their t5 galaxy t5u havent been screwed. they saved 2500 zen, because they were NOT forced to buy the guardian or any t6 intel ship!
now you have the alternative to play new content with the galaxy t6.
i hope i was clear. you havent been screwed at all. i for example bought the guardian, cause it made a good mix of galaxy and ambassador. basically I have been screwed, not those t5u guys that bought their upgrade with ec ... ^^ just saying im not frustrated, the guardian served me well. and since in this game you can easily make zen, you never buy sth full price at all.
i threw away 3000 zen i dont feel screwed, and you shouldnt for having bought a t5u token for ec ...
i think it was worth waiting for the galaxy t6. (and really, this wasnt surprising at all, it was clearly visible)
also defiant and sovereign will get t6 variants, as the vorcha and bop will do get them its not an "if" its a "when"
next will be t6 tavaro, t6 bop and defiant.
after that it will be about sciships.
also a new t6 galX will appear, im pretty sure. it will feature pilot seatings as it was seen in the series that it was pretty manouverable attacking from exotic angles.
I'm not happy that some ships have to be bought on the C Store. I might not be able to afford it. It creates two classes of players, which is unfair. I recommend removing ships from the C store, and making them free.
Never gonna happen... Missions and quite often gear etc is free... Ships is where they make their money.
Where's the love for the Escorts and Science officers. Also not to mention how about a full class carrier for Feds and Romulans that can carry Frigates without having to go to an impossibly high priced lockbox and limited release ship from out of faction
so people who made their t5 galaxy t5u havent been screwed. they saved 2500 zen, because they were NOT forced to buy the guardian or any t6 intel ship!
[/snip]
You're right, but I fear many people aren't going to accept the truth here.
Nice, however I assume in time we can expect the better TNG iconic ships (The Sovereign and Defiant)? Certainly the Sovereign has had missing detail and broken/inaccurate bridges for a long time. Be great to see some love on those.
Game has officially changed its name from STO to Turtle Race in Space, come aboard folks while you broadisde on your cruiser you can make a PB&J sandwich, reinstall windows, clip your nails, make a pi

Money has been well spent, no?
Not entirely, that would be true if we couldn't later upgrade that same ship free of charge after having upgraded it with a token. A better example of something that's temporary would be a master key. But in regards to upgrade tokens, the fact that you can later upgrade that same ship free implied that the ship would still be worth using again in the future which is no longer true.

People are only bitter because it means spending more money (which can be earned through playing the game if people don't want to open their wallets). The simple truth is, if people don't spend their money on the game, then the guys behind the game don't get paid, and the people/players don't get a game to enjoy. If people want these new ships (of which are optional - they're not a necessity) then they should cough up the fee.
I've been waiting for these (specifically, a new Negh'var) for a while now. I've held off on purchasing a T6 ship until these ones came - and here they are. I've upgraded six T5 ships (thus now, they're T5U) and I'm content with that decision.
People don't mind spending countless $$$ on master keys to get a doff pack, but then cry about a 3kzen ship price. Baffling.
Maybe in the past but when i look at the Zen store list of T6 ships i only see ONE escort...so yeah i think i have it in my right to speak up.
no one is saying you don't have the right to speak up

Nah, my "ire" hasn't sullied my sense of humor. It's just hard to get the joke if you have no idea what the reference is. Perhaps a Pinocchio joke might have worked best.
It was sorta, they have been using the theme from Disney's PINOCHIO in the ULTRON trailers.
