Launcher does not, launch...

Playing STO through Steam, the launcher does nothing, just sits there loading, there are no problems on my end, already done everything required. The problem seems to lay with connections through the Crypticstudios servers. I am in the UK, so somewhere along the chain, something is broke!

I would test through Arc but that won't even get past checking for updates.

Read the pinned topic, no help, the game worked fine last night, but not today.

    Also in the UK, also having this. It was fine this morning up until about 10-11, and then I got some really bad lag and decided to log off and come back later, came back a couple hours later and the launcher wouldn't even load up. It's now 4pm.

    I don't play through steam or arc, I just open the launcher. Exactly where it freezes seems to vary, sometimes it'll get stuck straight away as a black box with the 'loading, please wait' message in the corner, usually it gets stuck about half way in to loading the actual launcher but before the login section loads preventing me from logging in. Once or twice I've managed to log in and then get stuck on the patching screen. Once I've even managed to log in and start the game, and while the loading screens worked fine all the way up to the 'retrieving character list' section, it then took ages to load up my character and then I got a login timeout when I tried to actually enter the game.

    At this point I'm just going to give up, hopefully it's just temporary and it'll be fine by tomorrow.

    also in the uk and having this issue , thought it was my harddrive failing but other games load fine
    got doff tasks to sort but am unable to launch game :( , it was fine last night so what has changed ?

    Another UK resident, the same. I thought it was my Internet connection, but apparently not. It worked in the morning fine, but when I tried to log in around 4 PM, three attempts didn't work.

    So I didn't give up after all and kept trying on and off, eventually managed to actually get in game and 'playing'. I used the quotes because the game was so laggy that all I was really able to do was fly around in sector space a bit and get some new doff missions going. And of course, now that I'm back out again my launcher still isn't working properly.

    Seems the problem could be localised around Manchester if I'm reading that right, either way not sure if Cryptic can actually fix this - time to call my ISP (groans)

    Me also.

    Are you all with Virginmedia? When I did a tracert to patchserver.crypticstudios.com, three of the hops timed out and all of them were to servers inside Virgin's network.

    I'm with virgin, yeah. Strange that STO is the only thing having issues if it''s not a problem with cryptic, but oh well. Suppose the only thing I can do at this point is wait and hope.

    Your use of "virgin" , "wait" and "hope" pretty much sums up my experience with them.

    I am also on Virgin and having the same issues.

    My Sky connection doesn't work at all (I assume it's because of those winds). In the morning I played tethering my phone connection: 3. It worked fine, but it doesn't anymore.

    having same issue here, although I managed to get connected its almost unplayable, also on virgin media

    I'm having the same issue. I can connect to Trions game servers just fine, yet I'm having no luck connecting to Cryptics.
    Oh, it's not broken? We can soon fix that!

    UK also - it's now 18:45 and launcher doesn't open or when it does it's VERY slow and says "Loading Please Wait"

    UK player, Virgin media customer and exactly the same issue... Don't need to be a tech minded genius to smell something afoot...

    Hopefully one of the geeks at either end will sus this out for us.

    On Virgin too, run a few traceroutes to various sites, all getting timeouts throughout time while it is in the Virgin network.

    Just about to report it, has anyone already phoned through to them to inform them and got an incident number everyone else can phone through and link to? the more people who report the same issue, the quicker they'll actually look in to it, one person reporting it doesn't stand a chance on their own tbh.

    So according to Virgin Media, the issue seems to be routing issue with Cryptic's servers because twice they monitored the Trace route and twice it routed me to the Xbox Patch Server. Had a friend double check as he's with Talk talk and he's connecting fine. VM advice is to wait for the tech support from cryptic to get back to us............

    Had a second friend check who's with BT and again they can connect without any issues.
    Oh, it's not broken? We can soon fix that!

    same problem for me i managed to get the launcher to load after waiting for about an hour and now its just siting at the patch screen after i entered my password & im also with VM + being a pc tech helps as well, i checked my net connection & pc & theres no problems

    Having same issues, In the UK and on Virgin Media.

    Game having disconnects, frequent loss on connection to server, login time out, Login2 time out, Launcher slow.
    Anything that happens, happens. Anything that in happening, causes something else to happen, causes something else to happen. Anything that in happening, causes itself to happen again, happens again.
    It doesn't necessarily do it in chronological order though.

    If VM were right why just there customers? They will tell us anything to take the heat of them

    im having the same problem and im with virgin meadia,it was fine this morning for myself. seems to me that criptic have kinda done a fuubar.Please sort this out. last night just got my level 3 dilithuim mine up and running. took me a hole year.on my own. so I realy wont to play ??.

    Having the same problem. U.K resident, Virgin Media.

    Also tried connecting via my next door neighbour's connection, which isn't Virgin Media. This is only affecting Cryptic/Perfectworld, no other problems with other games and/or websites.

    Stuck on launcher and when it does finally kick in, login2_timeout errors, etc.

    Just going to wait it out, if it affects the Delta Recruit thing, it's no big deal these days.
