It's definitely a problem with VM. People on VM are having problems on Realm Reborn today too http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/227383-Lag-Spikes

It's an issue with Virgin Media, it's nothing to do with Cryptic, only Virgin Media customers routing through their Manchester hub are having the problem, Virgin Media need to fix it.

and yes I'm on VM and I'm getting the same results as everyone else in this thread :(

I don't think so, Virgin may be a bit slow at the moment but I am running Elder Scrolls Online from the same computer with normal FPS. The STO launcher is just sitting there, it doesn't even draw the Patch button fully.

All that means is that you aren't routing through the Manchester hub to get to the elder scrolls servers, not every game goes through the same route.

It is 100% an issue with VM's servers in the chain that heads in the direction of Cryptics servers, the traceroutes posted prove that without a doubt.

Virgin's twitter feed is going ape at the moment with reports of internet not working from all over the country, they say they're only just aware of an "emerging problem" and can't post a status update until they know what's going on.

In other words, they haven't fed their server hamsters and the little blighters have gone cannibal on each other.

Don't. I share Wi-Fi with my neighbours (same house, two separate flats) and Sky has been 95% offline for the last 3 days. And spotty for the last few months.

There has been a major issue with the 3 big isp providers throughout the UK effecting services.

Most of the south of the UK has been without any Internet for most of the day. With services only coming back online over the last hour and many of the people effected are still without any Internet.

So this is not a problem with cryptic even though I'm sure many will love to play the blame game but rather a problem effecting normal Internet activity.

People I know have had there Internet throttled to try to help with traffic to stop the outage spreading further thus most if not all online games, movie and TV streaming etc again has either been cut off or because of the lack of speed rendered unable to connect etc.

Just read that a 3rd party exervation company decided to cut through a main line fibre optic cable which has had a knock on effect throughout the UK and leaving some with out any services at all.

what they should have done is give the, player ability to change to the new characters and keeping the stats.

i for one will not start again.

on the note. Launcher is loading soooooooooooooooooooooo slow.
please fix it ASAP. i try ARC, STREAM. and load it with out both. still the same.

Another UK player, same problem. Looks like this crazy weather with the wind isn't helping them resolve the issue as, as of now (10pm UK time) the launcher still won't load.

So according to Virgin Media, the issue seems to be routing issue with Cryptic's servers because twice they monitored the Trace route and twice it routed me to the Xbox Patch Server. Had a friend double check as he's with Talk talk and he's connecting fine. VM advice is to wait for the tech support from cryptic to get back to us............

Had a second friend check who's with BT and again they can connect without any issues.

Same. In the South and on BT and the launcher won't go anywhere. Don't worry, you aren't alone. I think certain people are slowly getting on (with varying degree's of performance when they do) around the UK depending on areas.

The issue reported here by Virgin Media customers was apparently resolved in the early hours of 01/04/15 (it was one of VM's data centres having issues), if you were having issues after about 8am yesterday then it's probably a different issue, you'd probably be better off making a separate thread to report that.

I managed to patch, and create a new toon, then the server lagged, then everything froze completely. Now the launcher doesn't want to start at all.

PS. It just started but other strange thing happened.... but that might be my comp though ;)

In the UK and getting the infamous patch server timed out error again. Anyone else getting this?

I'm on Talk Talk but I too am having problems logging into some MMO games, so it isn't just VM.
