Cruiser's are popular for their size and shape, Carrier's are not cruisers, but I'm sure their will be more tactical ships later. They are popular enough, its possible also at release their were 3 escorts/tactical the rom one and the fed one and kdf .
I'm honestly hoping they will eventually rebalanced engineering abilities especially their commander rank, ensign ones so they have more viable chooses and more powerful tools. Which for the most part tactical ships do have with exception to ensign level. Which is about as bare for cannon users.
Science has some abilities which are just mind blowingly weak as they add new abilities i worry they won't even look at the old ones
Command ships were rarely escorts outside the defiant. No science ship was ever seen as a command ship. So it makes since for another cruiser like command ship. What doesn't make sense IMO is that the flag ship based ships weren't the first Teir 6 command vessels.
Martok's bird of prey was a command ship
and in Enterprise the NX-01 was a command ship too =D
As an avid Star Trek Fan and current player of Star Trek online, the news of a whole new class of command ships due to be released soon was ...... like someone putting nails in a coffin. PWE/Craptic you have LOST YOUR WAY !!!! This game is still full of bugs/glitches from years back, yet in all your arrogance you decide to obsolete all T5-U ships which many people spent real money to get.You lost a huge player base with Delta Rising {cost the CEO his job} and now you are doing same thing all over again with Command Ships. We understand that your Chi-Com Task Masters expect a return of their investment,,but what you forget is the CUSTOMER will decide whether your company thrives or withers. P.S. Drug test all your code writers/Devs who always lie when they say they fixed the boff tray.. still broken as of this post and yes have done the usaul force verify, name change and etc .etc. Well i said my peice now it's time to Explore Strange New Games and to Boldy Leave Star Trek Online to it's much deserved fate.
It's not false... you can buy all the manuals you want but if you don't have that specialization qualification as a captain... meaning you have spent 10 spec points or 1.5 million skill points in that specialization tree you can't train in those abilities --manual or not.
I didn't need any spec points. As a test, a level 45 char, obviously without any spec points, has trained an officer in intel team 3, using the token and manual from the exchange; and a level 59 char, with only 4 points in command spec, has trained an officer in reroute power from lifesupport 3, using token and manual from the exchange.
I find myself wondering whether one of the Fed consoles will allow the ships to separate the top and bottom halves in a sort of saucer separation-style deal. They're all quad nacelled with a seemingly disjointed main hull and secondary/tail section hull.
If this is the case the turn rate on the Fed cruisers is almost certainly going to suck despite the "battlecruiser" moniker...
The design concept looks interesting and I must congratulate the designers. Now, the hang up on this will be justifying the price for the packs, especially the mega-pack which really is the key one since anyone wanting a set for all factions/fractions will have to look at the 12k Z set.
1. The offer would make sense if each small pack game with a 3 Boff set of Command Officers (though 4 would make more sense since the Commander slot has to be an Enggy and the other 3 would be the Lieutenants). Then the mega pack would include the full Boff initial issue for each faction. I do not count the Anniversary Event "Walking Dead" Command Boff as being a replacement for the needed Faction based Command Boffs.
2. There definitely needs to be a $20 off sale on the mega pack to even make most players consider that upon release. A single purchase for $100 is still steep for some, but the reduction will make the pain more bearable.
3. The "Inspiration" boost has good roles, but the term is quite lousy. Inspiration makes it seem like I am taking my crew on a Revival, instead of into battle. A proper term for command is "Leadership". The boost is coming from players showing increased Leadership during an engagement and this inspires other to give more to the fight... LEADERSHIP.
Saw some images leaked last night - Can I just say... Want !!!
Oh and we need a Specialisations / Specializations re-trait option URGENTLY
I second that motion. learning the system is full of pitfalls, now let us fix it. Unless you are planning on giving us lots of those points any ways in which case I would suggest a one time resetwhen the "Expansion" drops later this year? Hopefully a massive bug fix? about 3 in 5 Borg alerts never spawn a Vger for some unknown reason...... Often responding to a borg alert, I enter one of those "Boss Vger Failed to spawn" events as well. The Defera zone often has the assimilation rescue and gun reprograms fail to respond either, I have died trying to get them to happen!
There are others all over the place and I see them mentioned in the bug fix forums, how bout it, now that you have a new group/crew? (CEO, Producer, and art/developer leads?)
The Universe is a messy place, You are born a mess. Sustaining life usually involves cleaning up messes. You die and usually are a mess then too. All of these messes usually involve some blood- get over it.
Y'know... as unrepentantly ugly as those things are in well-lit shots... I have to admit this space pic with all this darkness and shadows makes it look looming and brutal. But you know what they say - sometimes you just take a good picture.
Not the best shot, but it helps. Dunno... I'll have to play with it on Tribble before I jump into buying it, I guess. I don't hate it at all, I just need to see what my customization options look like.
Virusdancer, if you're basing your Tier 6 and not FT6 theory only on their price, I believe you're merely speculating.
After all, the 2000 Zen/2500 Zen isn't a divide between T5 and FT5 ships. While all FT5 C-Store ships cost 2500 Zen, many of only Tier 5 ones also do cost 2500 Zen (of the top of my head, I'd say a majority, with only the older released ships being 2000 Zen).
What i mean to say: If these aren't Fleet level, there's very little chance to get Zen from me. After all, I still haven't gotten the Dyson ones, despite the recent addition of faction hull materials (I admit, since that addition, I've considered getting them many a time).
EDIT: Forgot to chime in on the future Fleet versions of current Tier 6 ships: Those will sure be in a new Fleet holding. A little surprised it's not on us yet, frankly.
The current T6 non-Fleet versions are priced at 3000 Zen. These are 3000 Zen...would be where that would start.
Going back to the T5 ships, comparing the 9 and 10 console boats with their respective prices...
You didn't get 10 consoles without 2500 Zen, but 2500 Zen was no guarantee of 10 consoles.
These ships being 3000 Zen...tells me they're Standard T6, cause otherwise they've screwed over everybody that bought a Standard T6 and spent 3000 Zen on one.
edit: As an aside, I'm still not sure why the Regent & Avenger/Mogh were priced at 2500 instead of 2000 - doesn't quite fit in with why the others were priced at 2500.
It takes Leadership to Inspire troops. Inspiration fits just fine, but if we have to go into semantics, then Leadership points that inspire the crew to work even harder. Still results in the same end.
It's as ridiculous as Titanfall's creators insisting their Titans aren't "mecha" because they feel it's a "dirty" word.
When do we get a T6 Galaxy with the Command template?
Once Cryptic decides to star LeVar Burton in a USS Challenger Galaxy variant in some new mission chain. And it will have the same core setup as the Pathfinder; just redone for the Galaxy. Meaning Lt Tac/Hybrid, Lt Sci, Lt Universal, Lt.Cmdr Eng, and Cmdr Eng. Which may or may not come after a revamp or new Cardassian arc and featuring a Hero Defiant that also has a Pathfinder layout (Lt Sci/Hybrid, Lt Eng, Lt Universal, Lt.Cmdr Tac, and Cmdr Tac).
As to the T6/FT6 debate; all 3 packs thus far were already at Fleet level. The real question is whether or not these will follow that.
Hello Cryptic - I don't do the FED or ROM factions so those ships are irrelevant for my interests. I hardly ever post but after seeing the pictures I couldn't stay silent. Here is my take so far, meant in the spirit of constructive criticism...
The Good: Each faction got three ships which are customizable - good job on that part. The ROM designs are quite nice, too bad I don't have a use for them myself but it's obvious people will really like them and spend money. The FED ships, meh I'm neutral since I only like the original Connie, after that I have no interest. But that doesn't matter I know you won't have any issues getting sales for them.
The Bad: I don't feel like the KDF needs any more ENG heavy cruisers. IMO, we need T6 Intel/Command Heavy Raiders and Science ships that look Klingon.
The Extra Bad: I hate to rain on anyone's parade, it never feels good to have your art criticized but wow, the KDF designs are just seriously bad in every way. It's heart breaking since the KDF is way overdue for some lovin. I got a bad feeling they will not sell well, hopefully for you I will be proven wrong on that. To me it's always seemed as though noone on the Cryptic team understands Klingons at all... maybe you need to hire some KDF fans to collaborate with your teams to guide you for the red faction's needs. Just an idea.
I've seen hints in interviews, posts, and blogs that you guys are tired of not getting positive responses as much as you'd like from the KDF side of things, but I just don't see that changing in any significant way if you won't correct your course.
As an aside, I'm still not sure why the Regent & Avenger/Mogh were priced at 2500 instead of 2000 - doesn't quite fit in with why the others were priced at 2500.
I'm guessing because they are Vice Admiral ships, not Rear Admiral ships.

I think you kinda proved price doesn't matter. There are 2,500 zen ships both with and without the extra console. Following that through, the 10 console ships for 2,500 screwed over everyone who bought a MVAM ship, Armitage etc. and... Cryptic were perfectly fine with that, and even continued on to release 2,500 zen 9 console ships afterwards. The defining difference seems to be that all of the 10 console ships are Vice Admiral, as iconians points out, and of course pack ships... like the Command Cruisers.
It's entirely possible these will be the first "Fleet" T6 ships, essentially the new Odds and Borts.

Most of the 2500 9 console ships came out after the 2500 10 console ships had already come out. And again, the base price was 2000...then 2500 with the 9/10 issue coming into play. Our base price is 3000, because when the Fleet T6 comes out it's going to be another 500 taking it to 3500 for the 11 console boat.
So there's no way that one could go from 2000 was always 9 console to 3000 might mean 11 console instead of 10 console, when the 11 consoles are going to cost 3500 after buying the 3000 Zen boat and the 500 Zen FSM.
With regard to the differences with the 2500 Zen and 2000 Zen 9 console boats, most of the 2500 Zen boats actually had something special to them. The Armitage was an Escort with a Hangar...the Atrox was a Fed Carrier...the Garumba had Javelin mode...the Tempest had the tailgun...etc, etc, etc.
The rank required to fly the ship didn't change anything but the rank required to fly it.
But hey, if folks want to expect more...that's up to them.
I'm going to play it the way I usually do, which means I'm expecting 10 console Standard T6 boats based on the pricing. If it turns out that they're Fleet-level boats with 11 consoles, they that will be a great deal for the price - even if I end up grumbling about the prices of the other boats - can see it leading to all sorts of rage threads.
On the other hand, if folks want to expect Fleet-level boats and they're not...well, they're going to be disappointed, no?
I just don't get why folks set themselves up for that potential disappointment time after time...
Oh, and I'd also like to point out that I'm amused by the fact they're Command cruisers, but don't have full access to all 4 Command toggle buffs.
They're listed as Command Battle Cruisers...but they're not Battle Cruisers. They're Flight-Deck Cruisers. That was kind of a surprise, eh?
Yeah, the Feds now have Cruisers, Dreadnought Cruisers, Battle Cruisers, and Flight-Deck Cruisers. KDF still do not have Cruisers or Dreadnought Cruisers...but let's make sure the Feds get the Battle Cruisers and Flight-Deck Cruisers.
edit: Lol, you can take the player out of the KDF but you can't take the KDF out of the player. :P
Would like to add, since it's not all bash!bash!bash! and so forth, that although I burned all my Zen on keys to get Lobi to get a Ferengi Rapid Fire Missile because I was so disappointed with the looks of the Fed boats from the leaked pictures out there...that I'm actually pleasantly surprised by some of the combinations I saw in the Fed animated gif there - and - that I kind of regret blowing through the Zen like that (I had the most horrible luck too, not a single box with more than 4 Lobi - it was a freakin' trip). Some of those combinations, imho, actually look pretty cool for the Fed boats.
We're pleased to announce our newest lineup of ships - Tier 6 Command Ships! These beauties are the latest ships to leave dry dock. Built to inspire your teammates, these ships feature a new feature with dizzying amounts of options for Captains to mix and match designs.

This is just my opinion but you guys are going nuts with this. Hopefully these new ships would have their unique Bridges and interior hall ways because I am getting tired of same old inteiors

I'm in no way a fan boy and often find myself not in favor with your decisions. However these new ships are beautiful. I like that you are allowing so much customisation. Thank you devs for giving us these aamazing designs. I will be buying these packs for the ships because they look and feal so next era Star Trek to me. Good job guys.

Very good points here. I agree that it is a shame they feel they are not seeing the return they want from the kdf side, but with the design and focus on cruisers I agree that it is unlikely to change.
I want to use Breen Fighters and Elachi Shuttles on them. I still don't get why they won't make the Elite versions able to do that. They already nerfed the Pets; so no real gamebreaker there.
Those KDF ships are ugly, ugly, ugly. So ugly, I don't know if I can rationalize buying them, even with the ridiculous lack of t6 kdf ships.
That's bad.
They're perfect for PvP, though...if you watch the KDF gif long enough - with some of those combinations, your enemies will be too busy laughing to defend themselves.
edit: And wow, look at how the Dil/Zen Exchange is bouncing...

Silly Doffs
Nx-01 is a cruiser... yes in this game the replica is escorty. Also in this game BOP's and escorts are very different play styles. But yes his was.
Admiral Ross had the Bellerophon, which was an Intrepid-class. You could argue that was also a command ship.
I find myself wondering whether one of the Fed consoles will allow the ships to separate the top and bottom halves in a sort of saucer separation-style deal. They're all quad nacelled with a seemingly disjointed main hull and secondary/tail section hull.
