I love how the biggest whiners in this thread are mostly only single to triple digit posters. :P Yeah they aren't hiding their identities to keep their main accounts anonymous.
I recently returned and therefor have now this strange arc account stuff. Anyhow STO cool game got several good things added..more enjoyful then after launch. Service still broken. Give it a month or two and possible some other releases which care better and I'm gone. Until then I do what every customer does...I don't get served as I wish to...I complain. Simple..Why I should have patient with this sort? I spend my time to play STO...I can't since they are not able to do what they are paid for...so...what do I. I ventilate my frustration..at least I try to get not personal.
My right, my way...get the servers working simple.

u spammed this Forum so much - keep ur head down
nice u wasted so much time in your sig - i do not see it anyway
First-time poster on these forums, and I'm not really planning on doing much talking, but I sort of just wanted a place to vent my displeasure with the way things are being handled here.
Extensions. Again.
And once again, we get nothing but "cute" faux-RP bullcrap that tells us absolutely nothing and shows absolutely no respect for our time. Because for me, this is primetime. These are the hours during which I game, and when I do so, I'm usually playing STO. For me, this was going to be a pleasant evening spent by the computer, sipping some scotch and playing around with my new ship. A ship that I paid for with actual money, because I felt that STO deserved it.
I'm also a subscriber, because I felt that STO deserved it.
But beyond being a STO subscriber and a person who apparently receives undue enjoyment from buying virtual goods, I am also an MMO veteran, and speaking from experience I'd like to point out that in other games we'd usually receive some sort of reconciliatory gift for constant failures such as these. It wouldn't necessarily be very big, but it would be enough for the devs to show us that they understand and respect the fact that we pay for a service that they've failed to deliver.
And in STO we get nothing. Worse than nothing - we get evasion. You kept me from enjoying a service for which I pay and you aren't even considerate enough as to tell me why or to give an actual apology for your weekly failures to keep your word and to stick to your deadlines, and to me, that reeks of disrespect. Disrespect for my time and disrespect for my patronage.
Not cool, Cryptic.
Took the words right out of my mouth so to speak. We get no apology bonus weeks for the weekly extension of maintenance, and not to mention the laggy/rocky server stability. Cryptic isn't the worst company out there, but they're definitely not the best either. I've spent money on STO in the past, but it seems to me the quality of the game and server is going downhill with every patch.
Well, something went wrong and they can't really put up the server till the problem is fixed so I prefer this over a broken open server.
NOW, with that said, a few extra hours is nothing I will really complain about, Its 8pm in Sweden and this is prime time for me, but I work for a living solving computer problems so I suppose I am more forgiving.
But there are those times when the server has been down for a very very very long period of time, and like wow recently have had problems as well, the difference between Cryptic and Blizzard is that Blizzard makes up for it in one way or another (think it was 5 days extra game time?).
Cryptic (Perfect World) should really start thinking the same way when things goes straight to hell. In the long run, we all want to play the game, but with any business module, the customer never forgets when the company can't give good service and a compensation (like a few zen) is something that should be on the table as a apologize to the community.
Then the server problems would probably be less frequent cause the company loose virtual-money on it .

Nail on the head.
If I had mod points to spend...oops, wrong website.
Cryptic and the STO team have done a great job keeping this game going for 5 years. I am very grateful that at 53 and retired DAV, I can have a great hobby that doesn't cost much. And my wife is happy I don't spend a fortune on boats or four wheelers to do it. It takes a lot of work and money to keep STO going. So, as a free to play MMO you should be happy it's still going and it's only going to be down for a few hours. It could be much worse.
That they remove all abilities to get EC from doing elites and Argala ? If that happens ALL HOPE IS LOST.
Key words in my post: EXTENDED down time. When Blizzard posts maintenance periods, they RARELY miss the mark.
Sure, they have 5-6 hrs maintenance times, but the servers are usually up when they say they will be, or earlier.
You guys really picked the worst possible day for extended maintenance. We have a skill point bonus event which is the best event this game could offer this season. I literally could have had 5 or 6 special points done by now. Yes my xindi escort is that good
Its no hardship the game being down. Its frustrating, but the lack of Customer Service/Care from this company is shocking.
I like certain features of this game but if they lost the Star Trek license or never had it to begin with, i wouldn't have given the game a glance.
Cryptic respect the license, respect the i.p its what's been putting food on you're tables for the past 4 plus years. Lose it and you'll likely be closing the servers for good.
"Fix the game! This is unacceptable and I am angry!"
"Okay, we're fixing the game."
"You're taking too long to fix the game! This is unacceptable I am angry!"
"Okay. We just won't say anything then."
"You aren't saying anything! This is unacceptable and I am angry!"
funny
but on other Hand if i knew that the Server is down so Long i took my wife and get in nice Restaurant instead of waiting hours to turn in contraband on 13 feds. Now me is pissed cause i lost dili and wife is pissed again i spend hours in Forums writing bull**** - well done
nice u wasted so much time in your sig - i do not see it anyway
I don't mind the extended downtime, I'm sure they don't party there. What I miss is being informed about it. Not on twitter, not on facebook, but here, in the official forums where the launcher is directing players for information.
Neverwinter forums are not helpful anymore because their server is up, so no more updates.

A bit passive-aggressive this morning sir
I'm a firm believer in giving your deployment team all the room and time they need to get the job done right the first time. NOTHING spoils the mood faster than having to to role back something that toon 3 hours to deploy.

I really miss Brandon...
Cryptic's communication is lacking, but given anything they would say will be met with derision it's no wonder they don't bother.
Quick update: We're not completely out of the woods. The Cryptic game servers are having trouble connecting to some of our other servers, including billing and some other web services. (Account Guard was also having trouble, but we fixed that.)
For the moment, you won't be able to use billing. We're working to get that resolved ASAP, we'll let you know when it's good.
I guess the logic is, why make public announcements that are probably going to be wrong anyway, while everyone is throwing rotten veggies at you.
Its safer just to wait until the servers have been up for several hours, then make the announcement that all is well.
Watch.
Yep. Several hours, it is best to ignore the day you are on and come back the next day when maintenance is on.
For a long time I have gone back to playing another game I was playing around the time STO was in beta but have now just downloaded another one. Since the maintenance has been extended yet again I am now going to jump into that and forget about STO for today.
I have been playing since Beta and payed up and beyond F2P and Crytpic did add a lot more after F2P but that doesn't always work. IMO the game is less about Star Trek now. The only things that are Star Trek are probably the ships and species in the game. They just add more and more reputations and the missions aren't that different
They should find a way to go back and do some 'historical missions'. The Spectres FE was interesting as well as Temporal Ambassador. They should do more past missions and content focusing on TNG/DS9 etc. If they add the Borg as a playable race they will be less interesting in the existing timeline then if we could play them TNG era and follow them from that timeline.
So annoying changing stuff like the icons.. really? Every issue in STO and they want to make EVERYONE learn the icons again.
Disrespect for my time and disrespect for my patronage.
Not cool, Cryptic.
+1
My opinion of how Cryptic views their relationship with customers is this - you are only renting that ship, and your subscription is more or less the fee to enter their theme park and fly it.
Thunderstorm?
No rainchecks; come back when the weather clears if you can. If not? That's your problem, and we don't want to hear about it.
I'm so glad we got this super long downtime. I just got all boff powers and loadout deleted - have to reset the entire ship. Nice work!!

Get ingame Q is still there and Wonderland is still available
It seems like billing is being buggy. My guess is that STO is so heavily integrated with billing and such that the game breaks into bits without it.
Hence, the extensions.

Yep, got all my things and bobs and stuff! Thanks for the heads up
So, you'd prefer they use the Scotty Formula, and multiply all estimates by a factor of 4?
This is all my launcher has said for half an hour they broke it
