Oh, and... Gamergate this is not. To compare this to that is like saying getting a paper cut is the same as being flayed alive and dropped into a volcano.
Ty its nice to see Some ppl that read the other posts about impersonation this guy is probably his friend and he's covering for him I still don't understand how the gm's and CaptainSmirk are not doing anything about this guy
I've noticed that that evidence is connected to an account containing your actual name and other things that aren't really advisable to put up for open viewing here.
Just as a friendly hint since me and my entire fleet and all associates have strict policies about keeping what is in game in game, but others might not see it that way.
And you've proven nothing more than that there is someone out there impersonating diabolical91 by mispelling his name as 191, who is also the same clown that is harassing Saint Olivia by mispelling her fleet name.
I also notice there is no damming spam in the chat box of your proof, nor is this evidence the video you claimed to have.
Way to go confirming diabolical91 is innocent.
Edit: Good point on the naming and shaming lerpy. editing my post to just the typo. Hope thats enough to appease the mod gods.
AND TY snipe for your innocent until proven guilty
No one is playing devil's advocate here. I do not support nor condone the behavior of this individual, but, if anything, this thread alone is giving him the "lulz" to keep on going. Equating a guy sending out spam invites to Gamergate, then trying to coin a special term, "Trollgate," for what is essentially a drip in the ocean of online trolling, is unnecessarily adding urgency and drama to this whole ridiculous thing. Going to write an article about this? Are you kidding?
I have gotten death threats as well. In fact, I have made it no secret that I have gotten death threats in the game. I am sure most are just people blowing smoke, but it only takes one psycho to do something foolish.
I think you are assuming a lot of things here. Yes, I am going to write an article and share the byline in all likelihood. You may not care what people think of you or your friends, but some of us do. Don't paint us all with the same brush and assume it's a non issue.
Today alone the troll escalated his attacks and is now trying to hack my account. I am getting emails now that are trying to confirm if I am wanting to reset my password.
You may look only 5 minutes into the future, but a lot of us look much further.
One other thing I am also looking at is the arson theory. In case you are not familiar with it, when an arsonist starts a fire, they often stick around to see the chaos that follows. I am more than certain someone posting here is behind this. Obviously I cannot name names, but I am pretty sure someone here started this fire and usually it is the one trying to make light of the issue.
No, I am not who you think I am. I am someone different. I am instead a banana.
There are several people here making light of this issue, you are free to call any of us out if you want, but it's only going to disappoint in the end. I, for one, am making light of this issue. I enjoy watching the chaos of this thread, as well. You are free to go ahead and make incorrect assumptions just because someone is pointing out how hilariously ridiculous you are making this.
Frustrating? I'm sure it is. GamerGate? It is not. Trollgate? Hardly. Regarding death threats: I'm sure at some point in the game you've received them, so have I, but from this particular incident? You left your comment on that pretty vague.
It has to be vague. We all know who is watching this after all, right?
No, I am not who you think I am. I am someone different. I am instead a banana.
Whether or not one thinks the level of reaction or distress is warranted by the provocation, do you really think that the proper response to someone trying to interfere with/make something less enjoyable for another person is, "well, you should just either not let it get to you, or give up on this activity that you previously found enjoyable"?
Note that I'm only asking whether you think it's proper, or appropriate, as I suspect that mentioning "right" or "fair" will be met with "no, but neither is the world, so just deal with it."
That wasn't my response at all. By all means: report, nag the mods, etc.
My point is simply this: freaking out about it on the forums, making this a hugely public spectacle is most likely egging the guy on (and amusing others in the process). Thinking up a catchy "hashtag" name for this whole thing and trying to jump on the gamergate issue is doing what to solve the problem, besides needlessly elevating this troll to "uber-troll" status in the minds of others and giving him more and more bragging rights.
Ah. Well, that much is certainly fair, accurate, and true, IMO.
Trying to turn this into Gamergate when your obvious underlying concern is your fleet's daily shouty chat flooding giveaway is low. It's just some troll with no life. I feel sorry for diabolical91 for getting caught in the crossfire, its obviously not him and I've never seen him troll anyone in the game.
I'm afraid you've brought this on yourself "Olivia" - live by the sword, die by the sword. Your daily giveaways are seen as trolling by quite a few players and it was only a matter of time before someone decided to mess with them.
Playing the "girl card" to rally support for yourself is low. Very low.
I'm afraid you've brought this on yourself "Olivia" - live by the sword, die by the sword. Your daily giveaways are seen as trolling by quite a few players and it was only a matter of time before someone decided to mess with them.
Considering the kind of chat ESD is, I don't see how a giveaway is more trolling than gorn jokes, obamacare, muslim are bad, europe are loosers, and various topics that makes me loose faith in humanity everytime I read them.
I've seen the giveaway, and it was not worse than "all muslims are bad, all they do is written in the Koran !". Debate ensue. And yes, I really saw this debate going on ESD.
And even if she was trolling, the kind of behavior from this troll is bad. Really bad.
I don't know Olivia, just saw some giveaway from time to time when I need to go to ESD. So I'm not defending her, I'm just saying ESD is already a troll fest without the giveaway.
AND TY snipe for your innocent until proven guilty
but I have more screenshots but yet with your name which to me is funny that you still say it's not you but everyone knows it is after last night recording the spam fest again I watched the video watched for the @ handles they came from diabolical91 diabolica191 and badname so you do know that they do keep track of your pc via your ip address which I bet will match on three accounts. Just saying Olivia I'm not mad at you but after last night I can with out any doubt say it is diabolical91 I'll send you the link to the video I took with craps it's 2 gigs went from 9pm-5am and now he wont be able to claim it's not him estaban@diabolical91 after blocking and reporting that name no problem since
I think it boils down to intentions. When people hold giveaways for no other reason than to help others, that's noble. When the point is to be seen as a "saint," holding events just for the sake of being held in high esteem by others in a game, that's lame. I don't care about the giveaways and I don't consider them trolly, but it's clear that this person is trying to pull the "victimized girl" card to generate sympathy and to further build this image as a benevolent authority that can mobilize supporters with a crappy hash tag. This was never about gender, and to pretend that it was detracts from the women who do put themselves out there and face real-life threats of violence and assault. Wildly inappropriate.
I never played the "girl card." The situation goes beyond sex. Also, you are obviously unaware of where the "Saint Olivia" name comes from. It was given to me by a friend so I created the character as a way of honoring them.
As I have said many, many times on my site, the giveaway is not about me. It is about the community. Even if I stopped doing the giveaway, It would be nice if another decent person picked up where I left off. Saint Olivia is not a person so much as it is an idea. It is an idea that the community can be better. It shows that there are good and decent people beyond the few trolls that come into the game and try to TRIBBLE all over everyone's good time.
If you think I am so full of myself that I think this is all about me, you're very mistaken. This is why I make sure to name all the donors each time they donate. I have said it over and over that while I may be the face of the giveaway, it is the donors that keep it going.
This is about community. This is about second chances and having faith in people. This is exactly why I didn't buy into all the stuff that had and has been said about you and your fleet. I gave you the benefit of the doubt. I think even though certain fleets have bad reps, I am sure there are some good people there that want to just login and play the game to have some fun.
When people are constantly spamming you, impersonating you, scamming people in the game, everything becomes less fun.
Do I really have to explain this to you?
As far as Trollgate and Gamergate comparisons, yes. They can be seen in similar ways. If you really think of it, why on earth is my gender an issue here? It seems that others have brought this up way before I said anything. It is not hard to see how the two can be looked at as the same. If you can't see that, there is little I can do about it.
No, I am not who you think I am. I am someone different. I am instead a banana.
Sorry to interrupt your obviously quite well performed, and most admirably theatrically styled, self-praise session here, however, you seem to be "caring" about a Star Trek game.
Might I suggest that a break is in order, perhaps to take short stroll to enjoy the crisp winter air, or to cherish a spiced festive tea?

Sorry, but you keep saying there is 'proof' but so far the only thing you've shown is a screenshot of the known troll's account name. Nothing implicating the original diabolical91 as being the same guy. You're losing credibility pretty quickly.

Trollgate doesn't exist; It's a stupid gimmick you thought up to try and rally support for some low-to-mid level trolling. Gamergate is almost entirely about gender. The reason gamergate became a big thing on the internet was because it was a large-scale, heavily misogynistic group of males targeting women in the gaming industry. If you can't figure that out, there is little I can do about it.
I don't care what the "saint" in your name means, and I don't care if Olivia is really you, or someone else entirely, like a Japanese singer named Olivia Lufkin or whatever. That wasn't my point. This is most definitely a "you" problem, not a "community" problem. This problem isn't affecting the community at large, just a few members who are quite public and hold themselves in high esteem in a computer game, for some reason.
Tell that to the people having to deal with the troll. Like I said, you may not care, but others do. However, you do keep responding so I think you do care to some extent. As to why, I do not know and it's not my business. If you don't like what we are trying to do, feel free to leave the conversation anytime you like.

I'm not a publicly known player, nor do I hold myself in a high esteem. Yet I was getting spammed by this guy before this thread even existed and had already filed several reports against him. How about if this thread is bugging you, you do what you keep suggesting we all do and just leave it?

Maybe I should just borrow a name from a singer, grab someone else's photo off facebook, post it as myself so STO players will think I'm an IRL woman, and make a spring.me, twitter, and website so people can please just focus on the COMMUNITY and not me nor my vanity projects on an online game. Remember: it's not about ME nor is it about the fake identity I created to get people to NOTICE ME, it's about the COMMUNITY
#Trollgate #Gamergate
Okay, I think I know where this is going. Bye, Nabreeki.

Thanks for the good laugh as you haven't read any previous posts about this troll that name was mentioned at the beginning an that's a GREAT VIDEO ha

The troll is standing front of me and spamming friend requests and fleet invites to people with a mock Saint Olivia fleet.
From what a few have said earlier, I should give up and just get used to this.
Really?
Sounds like you are saying kids are going to egg my house and I should just give up and get used to that, too.
