Hi, I got an annoying troll spamming Fleet Map Invites to me. As soon as I decline the troll sends another invite. This has been happening for over 1 hour.
In general, it has not been that annoying because most of that time I hide it under the Chat Window and I have been looking at the Exchange, changing out ship equipment and doing other "general maintenance" of my toons. However, when that message pops up in ground combat I am bumped out of "shooter mode" and into "RPG mode". I cannot do ground combat in RPG mode. Like I said, whenever I decline or close the invite the troll simply sends another. How can I prevent such invites from popping up?
Below are links to images of the privacy options I have set, but they do not seem to work. Any ideas?

the invite sits there indefinitely and while it's there, they can't invite you again
(or maybe I'm wrong)
The problem with leaving the invite open is it prevents me going into shooter mode for ground combat. I am forced to use RPG mode for ground combat. I cannot play ground combat using RPG mode. I had to abort the mission I was playing.

If you look at his screen shots, he has done that. I think the game treats fleet invites and fleet map invites as two separate things though.

That was the 1st thing I did before messing around with the privacy settings.
It seems the screenshot I uploaded did not reflect the following setting. I guess I changed it after uploading to imageshack.
Allow only friends and fleet to make team invites = On
Yep, did that too.
It's possible that he is himself the leader of his fleet.

Any and all windows will remain open and prevent futher interaction of similar types untill you respond to it, so if you don't want to permanently block invites, this is the solution.
Just remember to dismiss the invite before you log off.
But as I have stated, when the when the invite is up it prevents me from going into "Shooter Mode" for ground combat. "RPG Mode" makes ground combat unplayable for me.
After doing some digging I have found out that the person that is harassing me is actually the leader of the fleet.
Prior to getting the Fleet Map Invites, I received several PvP challenges from a single player and put that person on my ignore list. I just cross check that name / handle against the Fleet's details and they both have the same name / handle.
I have reported that person to the GM and requested actions to be taken either against the person... or better yet against the fleet itself. It would be awesome if the person's account was permanently banned, but unfortunately that would take more than just my single harassment report to the GM.
Yes.
His handle is very similar to yours, but the lower case L is replaced with "1".
Is it just "smirk" or "captainsmirk"? I don't recall since I do not see him in many of the threads I read / reply to.
I cannot do anything about in-game trolling as my powers do not extend to in-game bans, but that doesn't mean I don't want to help address issues like this.
Let me know how your attempts to alter your in-game settings affect this issue.
I have one alt who is set to ignore all invites and is closed to teaming and anonymous, and while it does limit my ability to interact, it does keep me off other's radar.
See what you can do with your settings that you are comfortable with, and let's see what we can do to brainstorm some better ways to keep this kind of griefering from disturbing playtime.
I will do my best to help so keep my posted!

Thank you for getting other teams involved in this. I know you saw my tweets to you. I looked over the other posts and, as you said, this is a major problem this player is causing. As I mentioned, 4 straight hours of those silly map invites is just...it is far beyond trolling. That is very much harassment.
From networking in game with other players, I have been able to figure out other accts he is using to do this. I know I cannot name them here, but if you like, feel free to have your people contact me in game and I will be more than happy to provide any information that may help you all out. I filed tickets so I am sure you all can look into those to see what else he has been up to.
In times like these where online bullying is a major concern, I hope this will push the GMs to be more vigilant with reports of harassment. I know they can be overwhelmed by the sheer number of tickets filed, but we must do what we can to rid the game of such behavior. Many of us have popular in game characters and things like impersonation that this person is doing can seriously damage our names. I know it is just a game, but we still spend a good amount of time online and people have come to know and respect many of us for various reasons.
I am being quite sincere when I say I will do what I can to help you all remove these problem players from the game.
Yeah, kind of figured he would try something like that. Everyone knows there is only ONE Saint Olivia fleet though. My fleetmates are sending me screen shots. I am advising them to voice their concerns here as well.
Yup, this is getting out of hand...
I know the GMs are looking into this, but i have a feeling it'll eventually be ignored, because of all the work that goes into this.
We can block his challenges and non-friend trades, and that stuff. we can ignore him.. but we can't block fleet map invites, and we can't vote kick from team.
My suggestion to the GMs.
Check his IP, the IP of these accounts, and perma-ban any accounts sharing this IP. This isn't a temp ban kinda situation. Then ban his computer's ID.
Much like how the account armor detects if you're using the account on a new computer or even accessing the website through a new browser.. block his browser's ID and his computer's ID.
We have mountains of evidence here. If this isn't taken care of sufficiently he'll just be back worse than ever.
Edit: removed names, and screenshots, PWE has all the info
But yeah, I was unfortunate enough to be on the same chan than him when he started to send random challenge invite to anyone on the channel. I don't know why he hates you so much, but to do that for hours, that show some dedication.
Or maybe he is using a bot.
But yeah, please, ban this guy, delete his account and make him go forever. I don't know why he started this kind of thing, and maybe he have reasons (or not, absolutely no idea), but he is annoying for everyone.
I can confirm badname is also the same guy as the other troll handles. He bombarded me with pm's friend invites (from the whole lot of them) and trade windows
Yeah, Angie is pretty new to the forums. I advised her to remove the names from the post. Still, if any GMs / DEVs need the info, please contact us. We want this issue resolved.
I had a disagreement with a guy during a Mirror Invasion run a week or two ago and ended up adding him to my ignore list during the mission because he started spamming me with tells. Then after I ignored him, someone who I presume to be a friend of his started spamming me with tells, repeating something I'd said over and over again so I added that person to my ignore list. Just after the mission finished and I left the map that second person started flooding me with private challenge invites, so I had to block all challenge invites which meant I couldn't do any private runs with my fleet mates for the rest of the day because every time I turned the option back on that guy started flooding me again... I mean what was he doing? Spending his entire day just trying to send me challenge invites? How sad is that?
Really, when you ignore somebody, they shouldn't be able to send you any sort of invite. We should also have more options, like 'allow challenges from'; then three options; 'Friends Only', 'Friends and Fleet Mates only', 'Anyone'.
And they should add options to disallow fleet MAP invitations. The only reason I can think these aren't in there is because the Devs at large who are behind adding such features, don't play a huge amount and thus don't see how bad some trolls can be in game using the system to annoy the **** out of people.
Somes time I even click on declain, so he keeps there.. waiting to send another invite wile I am just probably playing tha game or just afk.. I probably should send him this image next: http://files.sharenator.com/100505.jpg
Anyway, I probably know who he is, but I dont have proofs and like I said, he is kinda funny

Yeah I'd say a macro is being used for sure. When I was getting spammed that day, I disabled the invites for about three hours or so and literally the second I turned them back on I started getting spammed again. He must have literally just been logged in that afternoon running a macro to do it. I refuse to believe somebody would have so little to do in their life that they'd sit and do that manually for an entire afternoon. Thankfully when I turned them back on the next day he'd stopped. So either he moved on to someone else, or he got a temp ban after I reported him. Though I do kind of worry that if he got a temp ban it may make him want to do it to me again in the future.
Also.... he's probably not using his main account for this. A lot of these people use disposable alt accounts and such like things.

I imagine they are. However, I am thinking this guy probably slipped up at least once and either didn't mask his IP or his computer ID so they can track him that way. It can be a bit of work, but I think if the GMs address this issue ASAP, it will save them a ton of headaches later on.
