Hmm. I don't see any of the Vo'Quv pets on the list. Should I be concerned?
He prefaced those pets in the beginning of his post, but they are not part of the 'complete list'. Some of us have informed him of what pets are missing from the 'complete list'.
But since he did mention the Vo'Quv Birds-of-Prey, and the To'Duj fighters are in the list, I would say they will be affected.
and now we officially start to get off of the original topic. lol, atleast it add as bit of a diversion from the anger at something that i see alot of tug and pull on.
No disagreement there. There's little point in buffing/nerfing pet damage or pet hull and shield health if they either...
A: Do not use comprehensive tactics or abilities enough in a typical fight to make their usefulness shine.
B: Do not avoid damage that a reasonable player might consider easily avoidable (such as gravity wells, aceton assimilators/drones, undine snot rifts, etc.)
Although I will say that pets have been performing a lot better than they used to, and reductions in warp core breach distance has helped noticably.
But it does not go far enough. Particularly when the two main enemy groups we've dealt with lately (Voth and Undine) simply eat pets alive to the point it is not worth summoning them when fighting them.
Maybe they could take a bit from the Vaaduvaar AI? It seems better at doing maneuvers and attack runs and many of the "fighter" pets that are armed with cannons would benefit from that.
This is not a issue until they break it and make it a issue watch everyone post 3 weeks yelling! morons >_< there carriers pets are suppost to do damage otherwise whats the point flying a carrier:eek::eek::eek:
Don't worry, Geko did not say: "Carrier Pets will no longer do damage". The damage will just be scaled back.
Though... some carrier pets are actually not supposed to deal damage. There are repair drones available!
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
good choice of wording, love the cat joke. Now, as for the person you quoted: the multi-vector is not a waste, if you toy with it a bit before going beyond green quality gear, it can turn out quite nice. i have been and still am toying with various possible loadouts with mine and my current tetryon dual heavy cannon/tetryon turret loadout is rather effective, if not devastating.
All I can say is wow..just wow..As it stands I feel like my pet are damn near pointless to even launch and that's with these "boosted values". And now youw ant to nerf them harder? Come on Cryptic throw us a friggin bone already. Too many nerfs not enough boosts. Just
My biggest complaints with pets are:
A: Die too easily from AOE abilities
B: Die from nearly every single warp core breach period.
C: Takes 20s for a command issued to be relayed and executed.. (I mean wtf? 20s? Really? Is this 2409 or 1912?)
Before you go nerfing pets you should address these core concerns.. Pets should be hard as hell to hit with any rapid fired aoe ability. They should be immune to warp core breaches and respond quickly when a command i issued. They should know they need to move away from damage zones like GW, TR, etc. I mean come on.. fix pets... don't break them further!
Wow, i think one of my surviving 3 post DR characters (before DR:10 regulary played characters) is gonna die soon, he is a carrier pilot.
Beta, LTA, CE, Multiple preorder Versions, all Addon Packs except AoY, nearly all KDF/Rom and ~50% of all Fedships, over 25 LockboxShips, Endurer of Atari's "Year of Hell", but...
All I can say is wow..just wow..As it stands I feel like my pet are damn near pointless to even launch and that's with these "boosted values". And now youw ant to nerf them harder? Come on Cryptic throw us a friggin bone already. Too many nerfs not enough boosts. Just
i can understand the sentiment, but as i said earlier: i will spend some time figuring out how to work to make carrier pets more worthwhile to deploy and possibly create a thread to share the tricks i discover and i encourage other carrier pilots to do the same. i can also do the same for mvam builds if people want.

B: Do not avoid damage that a reasonable player might consider easily avoidable (such as gravity wells, aceton assimilators/drones, undine snot rifts, etc.)
And this is my Secondary issue with the shape of nerfings to come.
If the hanger pets actually acted intelligently, then it would be much more reasonable. I launch fighters on everything but my xindi and by the time I look at the keyboard and back at the screen they are dead. They seem to have ZERO awareness of area affect weapons at all, I loose so many fighters to warp core breaches they could have easily avoided it's krazy, I don't even launch them anymore except for my xindi destroyers and those are about to be nerfed.
My primary is there are so many things BROKEN THE GAME IS RAPIDLY BECOMING UNPLAYABLE. How about fixing Skill Trays, OR Mac Clients OR Missions that can't be completed OR the hugely inconsistent uniform pieces (yeah that one is actually difficult, no sarcasm intended) OR what appears to be a memory leak in the program.
Space the final frontier. These are the voyages of [your name here] on a five year mission to gain one level after the delta rising xp nerf.
My Obelisk Swarmers of Death to be nerfed? Nooooooooooo!
Did they out-perform my ship? Well yes, but they were my solution to the relentless patrol missions in DR. Once within 15km of the enemy, the swarmers would shoot off toward the enemy and attack with a continuous barrage or antiproton beams and Trans torps, whilst I sat back out of range, and spwaned more swarmers once they start dying off. This means that the Vaadwaur Polaron barrage couldn't get me and blow me to pieces, the endless waves of Vaadwaur ships would be of no bother to me and finally, the patrol missions were more fun because I actually had a solution to the grindy patrol missions which I came across.
This might carry the air of exploitation, but ever since I faced the Vaadwaur in space (originally with my Mogai Retrofit), that Polaron Barrage would dispatch my ship in seconds. If I am faced with one Vaadwaur ship, then its not too bad but when you tackle a sqaudron of them, they somehow manage to lay down a perpetual Polaron Barrage which means no amount of hardening, or evaive maneuveres will save you. So I found the solution, the swarmers.
When you get to Level 59 for the final battle, you will see what I am on about (If you are not there already). I checked out the damage report when I get killed by a Polaron Barrage and it is ridiculous. If anything should be nerfed, its the Vaadwaur!
Thank the Gods that I am Level 59 and already completed the final battle mission.
I like DR overall, but the partol missions were a little repetitive. The Swarmers were the cure for that.
So all my fighter type carrier pets that explode when hit with almost anything have been overpowered? ...ok....
I can see maybe adjusting the damage output of the frigates slightly, but considering frigate pets are the only really "survivable" pets they're getting reduced health? Is this some sort of plan to make carrier's into regular cruisers? What the hell is the point of using them if you have to constantly re-launch them? Is cryptic going to put out a universal console that will auto-launch my pets for 1000 zen in the C-Store? I guess this is why they put those launch time reduction mastery traits into carriers, you're going to need launch more fighters to replace the ones blowing up twice as fast as you used to.
I'm so glad this is something Cryptic decided to focus their efforts on. It truly is a pressing issue in this game, and clearly one that should be given priority over any other minor inconveniences currently in game. I guess all this time hangar pets have been using an in-game exploit and I didn't even know it, hope I don't lost any points.
Looking back and keeping with Voyager euphemisms, 2012 would more aptly be "The Void" while 2014 could very well be "The Year of Hell."
^^^ That's historical revisionism dammit !!!
... can't have that I'm afraid ... , OTOTH New Game Enhancements (NGE) is what in my opinion fits very well with our situation post-DR ... -- while "The Void" would more likely describe the situation between the players perception of the game and the Dev's perception of it ...
Is this only happening on level 60 players or something? I'm still puttering along at 59, and my yellowstones, even at lvl5 only have 22k hull. Hardly show stopping. Fighting vaadwar I can barely keep them out fast enough.

When you (finally) are at 60 a carrier pet SHOULD be awesome - because it is the equivalent of a mk 14 gold piece of gear.
This is how YOU described it would work - pets scale with player level NOT their gear.
So if a pet is doing more damage than a player's ship when they still are in mk 12 VR (beacuse they refuse to use your stupid f#*king theiving upgrade system) then it IS WORKING AS INTENDED.
Leave it the f@#k alone and work on something that is actually BROKEN like the rest of this stupid game.
EDIT - on a serious note. where the hell do you get these stats from. Yes I have had my Elite Drones parse at 10k. This was in an elite DPS team where everyone had lots of FAW and APB and we were all super-debuffing our targets.
Pets should parse that high when a whole team of players are doing things like this. Learn how to read your metrics and understand that these kinds of knee-jer reactions HURT THE MAJORITY OF PLAYERS, and don't fix the issue you think that you have...
My elite scorpions have 88k hull. My flight-deck cruiser has 83k hull. It was obvious that there was something going wrong. I just hope they will keep a bit more hull than pre DR. As it is important to deal more dmg now than before.
That's intentional. My medical history is not up for full disclosure. :P
Yeah ... , my sensors totally didn't pick up on anyone using Evasive Maneuvers there ... .
Yet it too can be used too often ... , as for example I can point to myself being wrong on a STO subject within the last 24 hours (thinking that there were in fact some Elite queue's already in the game) .
I have yet to see you own up to being wrong on something after the fact ... , which would you know ... make you more human , and less a seeming pompous windbag at times ... -- who carpet bombs the forums for not having his particular ways of expressing concern , displeasure and general feedback .
But I could be wrong on that to ... .
... but if you plan on taking hostages because some ppl drink milk with their tea then let us know in advance , as there are a few Brits here who would probably like to take cover ...
... cuz some ppl don't have an ego to bruise by being wrong ... , but they do have 5 minutes of their lives to waste just to post this not-so-stunning revelation ...

Before dooming and nerf-raging, let us not forget the immortal bird of preys in Cure Advanced .
These stats affect them as well as our pets.
Then again, let's hope in a fair fix.

Actually, I've never looked at my pets' HP. When I got my Aquatic Carrier, though, and bought the Elite Mobulai pets for it, all I thought was: "Ooo, these pets at least don't die so easily. Cool." I did ask in Fleet chat once, and people just told me that was normal, cuz they're Frigates (like I have a friggin' idea what that means, LOL).
Now it would seem they're falling under the 'Too good to be true!' paradigm again. Sigh. I should remember this for my next purchases, any time I see something of value. I should turn it into a meme, so as not to forget this particular lesson:
When I saw this on the dev tracker, I thought it was going to detail some improvements like getting some UI for my Odyssey pets or actually recalling when I click recall (it's always the damaged ones that just fly around you).

did you EVER play the game? Did you EVER play a carrier?
I think you didn't!
Most carriers got less weapons than other ships. Expect the scimi.
Most upgraded carriers got a straship skill for leveling the pets faster.
But the pets don't deal that dmg or stay long enough for compensating this!
You better BUFF! the hangar pets instead of nerfing them!
And this is my Secondary issue with the shape of nerfings to come.
