I just wanted to add my name to the list, since I'm having the same problem, with the same error messages.
I'm not sure if others have mentioned it, but sometimes when it crashes 3-4 new STO icons appear on my dock, and I have to use "force quit" on them. Is that just me?

I've been shut out of the game since Season 9 launched! Haven't even seen the Delta and it looks like I never will. Email chain upon email chain with tech support until they finally gave up and said they had no idea what the problem was. Great. And that was after they figured out that I was not asking about Neverwinter. Mac beta worked really well and then came Season 9. Freezes upon log in. It's just clear the Mac version was an afterthought, but this problem didn't start with Delta. It started with Season 9.
PS: Macs are for people with money. So denying the Mac user population is denying your population with money.
Mostly this. I'm not "rich," but I have chosen to make the investment into the Mac because of what I do (music, and a bit of web/graphic design). It's been my experience that Macs out-last PCs by 2-3 years... THAT is why I'm a Mac. :P
Running MAC. Getting spontaneous crashes too, even in safe mode after verifying. Even after completely reinstalling STO. Haven't even bothered trying to run missions, since it's crashing after a minute or two most of the time (five minutes is about the max) even when I'm just in space or DS9 and just trying to get DOFF assignments going and R&D.
I just can't win...spent the better part of yesterday and this morning setting up the wine skin and downloading and updating the launcher...and it gets hung up on the Delta Rising screen

I'm joining the long list of Mac users who are having issues with STO crashing. Since Delta Rising my game crashes between every 5 - 15 minutes. I too see the pixel shader compilation failure note at the bottom of my character login page. Cryptic please look into this - I put good money - real dollars into this game - thank you!!!

Well put. And ditto. Cryptic: Please take this seriously and respond. Even if to acknowledge there is a problem to be fixed.

The first time running the PC version through CrossOver, it hung on the Delta Rising screen forever, I gave up, tried again, same thing. Then I read somewhere that the first time running it after a big patch, it can hang on that screen for over 10 minutes. So I loaded it up again, went and made lunch and did some errands, when I came back it was just transitioning to the character select and has never taken that long again. I hope this is true for you.

Some notes on what I've seen with the Mac client crashes since the DR launch:
- The crashes seem to be related to the 2D windows; I have seen almost no crashes when interacting primarily in the 3D world. When I've seen crashes when doing missions since DR launched, they seem to happen mostly right after interaction buttons pop up.
- Places I've seen crashes: doff assignments window (frequently, but I've been spending a lot of time there). Bug report window (while typing in the text box). Some parts of the character window, but I can't say for sure which tabs; I think it crashed at least once when I was looking at reputation projects, but I don't recall crashes related to looking at my character, or doing stuff with boffs or ship equipment. I'm pretty sure I had one crash while moving stuff between the inventory window and a bank window.
- Places I don't think I've seen crashes at all: doff R&D window, fleet window, anytime I'm siting idle and not moving the cursor, sitting in orbit over New Romulus watching the ships come and go. Normal 3D movement and combat doesn't seem to cause problems, either. (I should note I rarely use the mouse during combat or movement, preferring key bindings for movement, target selection, and most toolbar actions.) I don't recall seeing crashes happening when I do click with the mouse on the toolbars, but won't swear to that. Flyover messages don't seem to trigger crashes, either.
From all the DR crashes I've seen, my first suspicion is something to do with the 2D windowing code's handling of mouse entry/exit events. The doff assignment window is especially interactive with mouse-over behaviors, and seems to be one of the more trouble-prone windows. Another place I'd suspect is window focus changes (the interaction button popup-seeming related crashes I've had during missions don't generally have the mouse near any 2D UI elements that I know of, including the popup button).
I see the same "Pixel shader compilation error" messages on client startup that others have reported. I don't know if they're corrupting the GPU state somehow leading to crashes later, but since it's very repeatable, it's probably semi-easy to chase down and eliminate.
System info: late 2013 Retina Macbook Pro, OS 10.9.5, running in standard full-window resolution (1440x900).
Hey guess what i am yet another user that has the random crashes with my mac. I would really love to experience the new content but i guess that mac users don't matter much in the pc gaming world. If you guys could maybe figure out where you made an error in the coding and patch it I would be greatly appreciative considering that I and many other mac users have put good money into our characters. Please don't leave us hanging. I had no problems with STO until the newest Delta rising expansion So just to narrow it down It is somewhere in the 3.5 gigs of data that was patched in lol I know that is a huge amount of data pull the proverbial needle out of the haystack but let us know when we may be able to play our game again. I really loved being able to nerd it out on a game once in a while.
FWIW, have been hearing that it isn't just Mac users with massive game client stability issues. In addition to what appears to be a larger than normal pile of post-release bugs, there seems to be server/network load issues to go with it. Basing this on the apparent behavior in-game (e.g. list of R&D tasks for school don't completely load, or loads header but leaves prior school task listing), and how time of day even seems to factor in (e.g. log in ~7am EDT, seems to remain stable until ~8am EDT, then back to crashing every 5, 10, 15 minutes).
And while I haven't heard it (yet), also not going to buy it's my Mac, my OS, my 10Mb DSL, etc.; went from crashing every few minutes on STO yesterday to several hours stable on a relatively busy LotRO server (Landroval-RE) last night (stable as in: logged in, played for ~4-5 hours straight, logged out; no crashes, no lag, just playable content).
For reference:
Mac mini Server (mid 2011)

I have no suggestions, but I'm able to play without problems. And I do get the shader error on startup, so that's not your problem. From the day of DR, no problem.
OS X 10.10 (14A389) [though I was using 14A388a until yesterday; stable under both]

Not sure what this means, LOL. Are you saying it didn't work on one Mac, but you went to another setup and it worked for hours?

Some are wondering if it is an NVIDIA problem, which would explain why Mac & PC people may have issues.
And, I would further offer, that any issues with the launcher like that would be further/potentially compounded on the Mac, since it's wrapped in an emulator skin. Just a guess, though.
I'm playing using Wineskin on my 2012 MBP Retina (geforce 650m), and I've been on a few hours with no crashes... I just took the last UMV I had made, and updated it to Wineskin 2.6.0, then copied the game folder contents from c_drive in the official Cider wrapper over.... it patched like 4gb of stuff, then its ran fine ever since.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having problems!! My game loads ok but I get the error message about graphics problems and/or shaders or something when loading the character selection screen. My client doesn't actually crash but it struggles on any ground-type environments - it appears to freeze but you can still see movement on the minimap, and there's a little patch on the top left corner where you can still see movement. You can still interact with things if you happen to blindly bump into them. When dialogue screens pop up, you don't see the character that's talking - it's just a random static background - this also applies when you're using, for example, the tailor, meaning you can't see the character model you're altering the appearance of. It's basically made the game unplayable and only started in the last few days although I'm not sure if it was before or after the release of DR, so I'm not sure if it's related to the rest of what people are commenting on in the thread... I've never had problems before!!

I'd maybe give this a shot, but I can't find the files you're talking about.
Plus, I've tried using CrossOver, and that hasn't worked for me. I'm scorned. :P

Let it patch like 4gb on start up... see if it works for you.... its been working for me.
You may have to right click and Open the app the first time, or have your Mac set to allow apps from anywhere because I can't code sign it... I can, but it would break the signature as soon as you dropped the other files inside of it.

Please at least address that there is an issue. How can this not be on the "Known Issues" list?

No, that also happens to me sometimes.
So still no fix, which means a STOless weekend
But, at least they definitely know there is a problem!
"Soon"
AKA We might get to play sometime early next year. At least someone finally acknowledged it as a thing rather than ignoring us entirely, though.
That was my Tweet!
Glad to see that... hoping for good news by next week!

But I appreciate the sentiment.
It would be funny, if not so sad... work hard, devs!

My guess is that it's a problem with the cider/transgaming settings

Also it seems to open about 9 programs to get STO to actually run
