There was no subtext involved at all so stop making stuff up.
Casual players will suffer because they can't put the time or the funds in to make themselves an elite like you so obviously are.
Y'know what? I like to consider myself a casual. I can only play an hour or so at a time because I do fifty-thousand things at a time along with work. I probably get a game card once every month or so, so I really can't buy stuff and I don't like using the Dil Exchange because I'd rather keep my Dil for other things. I only just barely started really getting into the DPS nitty gritty before Delta Rising dropped.
And you know what? Save for the HP raising (which, I admit, is absurd), I had fun! It was tough, it was challenging. Granted, losing the Fleet Alert is kinda "Wha?", but it's a new game and we're all newbies again. I jumped in while I was still Level 50. I'm gonna take the slow way getting to Level 60. I'll take my lumps and lose if this means I get better. If I don't? Oh, well! I'm still having fun.
Like that person said, don't lump Casuals with Terribads because not all Casuals are Terribads. We're just slow and would like to take our time to get there.
Weird you quoting him, but eh. I didn't spend any time or money on my Oddy. I got it just from Dil farming that special event that rewards 50k for fourteen special mats. Not the Cataclysm, the other one. I think it was Q's B-Day or something. Traded it 150k for over 2k Zen. Everything on my Oddy, from Fore to Engineering Console, all in game rewards and loot drops that took me less than I spend playing Secret World.
Again, you lump the casuals, who do in their own time, with the Terribads, who will never do because they can't.
Those who can, do.
Those who can't, whine on internet forums.
Got the right quote box this time.
Do explain how I'm lumping.
No really do.
Considering I'm a casual myself and have been for some time.
So yeah, explain, oh that's right, you can't because you are talking utter fluff and reading between the lines of a one sentence line.
We did warn you that Elite is not for everyone. Its pretty extreme. Seriously, most players should not be able to do it.
But please note, that have already had some pretty well organized fleets blazing through Elite with apparent ease. It kinda blows me away honestly. We have a lot of diversity on skill in STO, so finding the right balance point may take time. We want to make a real challenge for our top players, so if players are succeeding easily (and they are), expect it to probably get harder.
New Elite mode is completely fine. The problem is Advanced mode. It's almost the same as new Elite and does not even compare to previous Elite.
Currently, it's more like "Advanced is not for everyone" as it probably should be.
With the recent update, I have to echo some PvE mission concerns, what I say here has not improved the PvE missions.
All standard PvE missions i.e. Fed Fleet Alert is now only fit for upgraded Tier 5 ships or tier 6 ships, Tier 4 lower or C-Store ships (not upgraded) stand no chance in Fed fleet alert.
Scaling the npcs up is a good idea, but ONLY for Elite, for standard PvE missions all npcs ships should remain as they were before delta rising update.
I did Cure Found (Normal) and while the extra Borg ships attacking made it a bit more of a challenge, the fact remain's the standard mission is more like Elite now.
These standard PvE cue missions are supposed to help those players get up to level 50 and those just making level 50. As it stands now I no longer like doing PvE Fed Fleet Alert and such missions like it.
As I said I can understand increasing the difficulty level of Elite PvE mission, after all they are Elite, but the standard ones should remain as they were before Delta Rising. I know not everyone is happy with this as you have spoiled it for them, I just hope that like others you will produce a patch that will revert the 'Standard' PvE cue missions to what they were before.
Another issue is there is NO new ship at Level 60, this is wrong and by this being omitted you are coming over as only wanting money as if players are to really survive in the Delta quadrant they have to buy Tier 6 ships or upgrade Tier 5 ships.
I think there should be a new ship given at level 60 to players, and it could be a pre-upgraded ship, the option for players to buy Tier 6 ships would always be there, or even if you do not put in a new ship at Level 60, at least give players who reach Level 60 1 Free ship upgrade token for one of their C-Store ships. If they do not have such a ship then that free upgrade will be kept in their inventory until they can afford to buy a C-Store ship.
The way the game is now set up is aimed at players who spend lots of money to get the good stuff, as such the Free to play Players are being snubbed as not everyone can afford to spend real money on a game they like.
Be careful you do not drive anymore players away, I know some that have uninstalled STO because of unfavourable changes in STO with Delta rising update. Heck you lost some when you brought out the Disastrous 'Voth' Arc, this did not go down well with everyone.
Do explain how I'm lumping.
No really do.
Considering I'm a casual myself and have been for some time.
So yeah, explain, oh that's right, you can't because you are talking utter fluff and reading between the lines of a one sentence line.
You are lumping by claiming that the game is killing casual play when, in reality, the only thing being killed is terrible pew pew playing that terrible players expect to win. So, you claim that because YOU suck now that the difficulty requires you to think before you shoot, it must be because you are "casual" and therefore, all casuals must be sucking and suffering like yourself and since you're not having fun, the game has killed the casual playstyle.
But that is not a casual, but a terribad who THINKS himself casual because they have spent the last year facerolling content without having to fire off a single neuron in their head. They've done nothing productive to their own progression and somehow thought that meant, "Hey, I'm not bad, I'm just casual!".
No. Casuals eventually get stuff done. They don't sit in queues on their T3 Support Cruiser running Khitomer for the fifth time in a week. They don't log in and sit in orbit around the Dyson Sphere chatting until the next FE drops. They don't run the Summer Event dance competition and just type /dance_robot and walk away to grab a Sunny D. They get their T5. They queue for normals. They build up their ship. They enter STF's and kill the Borg/Voth/Undine dreadnought three way battle.
Why?
Because they got it done with they time they have.
Terribads, instead, chose to come here and cry. They wasted precious time, time that could have been spent getting Dil or crafting ship parts or running content to prepare them for the Advanced stuff. They wasted it to whine about how they suck and hate that the game reminded them that they suck.
That is the difference between a casual and a Terribad. And you lump them together by thinking that the casuals are suffering. They are not. They are fine and doing things at their pace. They may not be in the STF today or tomorrow, but they will get there when they get there.
"A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP"
Interesting. Now, if I recall correctly, when all the raging was going on about T6 and T5U ships we were told that all new content would be playable with a T5 ship. This thread sure doesn't sound like that's true. LMAO! Cryptic stikes (out) again.
I'm fine with Elite mode being a bit below my gear level.
Advanced, though, should be PUGable if you know what you're doing, and right now it's not. The jump in difficulty is just too steep.
Yeah, the jump from normal to advanced is way too big now. It also means newer players/alts will never be able to compete in advanced since they will need some rep gear amongst other stuff to get advanced done. The problem is they cannot buy the rep gear without borg neural processors which you only get in advanced and elite. So bascially you need stuff to survive in advanced, but you only can get that stuff when you can finish advanced.
This problem is also imo space only. I just did a pug in Khitomer advanced on the ground and while we failed the optional (due to two players that never played that map before and also were undergeared), it is still doable even with the increased difficulty. And that is what space advanced should be as well. A bigger challenge than the old elite ones but still doable even for a pug as long as everyone has solid gear and knows what to do. But right now it is just a TRIBBLE DPS race due to the insane increase of HP points of every enemy. Shooting at a damn BOP with 650k hull points is not a bigger challenge, it is just plain boring.
Maybe you have to play advanced ground first in order to get the gear you will need for advanced space from now on.
Level your ship/toon using other methods. I ran Tau Dewa Sector patrol on elite and got 2 ship levels and 2.5 cpt levels. Once I get the Avenger to T4 I'll move to another, maybe a T6 to get the trait unlock. My guess is that in 2-3 months Advanced will be ROFL Stomped like elite was.
Many of us have paid over $100 for the Delta Pack, and as you can see on the forums, our first experiences with our new tier 6 ships, and tier 5 upgrades is failure after failure. Even in regular fleet alerts! Please do go ahead and make elite truly elite, but let those of us who were happy playing STO up to now have a decent shot at advanced content just like we did until yesterday with elite content.
I hope PvE is adjusted with an emergency patch very soon. No one wants to pay to lose. Nobody!
How many specialization points do you have? Starship mastery unlocks? Are you lvl 60 yet? Is your gear at minimum MK XII?
you are either trolling or not reading. he's talking about normal and advanced STFs, CC and fleet actions, NOT the new Elite level for whT I'm reading (I am still experimenting with the new shisp in tau dewa)
raising difficulty across the bar will kill the casual and new players, a fear that was voiced weeks ago, and poo pooed by the elite players.
The Guardian is set up, and looks great. I was just all excited about the stupid Mat'Ha. Could the day of Escorts Online be over? I have yet to see a happy post by an escort/raider/destroyer captain... T5U or T6. I better look some more.
I watched Mark in the Mat'Ha, he really was impressed by it. he called it a chainsaw from hell.
Um, actually... no. This is not a new difficulty. It's a new level of annoying.
You took slow, boring bags of health and added more health to them. That is not difficult. It just means in order to beat them, you have to spec out your super leet dps ships with the new gear and spacebar your way to victory. Last I checked, gear =/= skill.
Making the same mission take longer with a higher gear requirement =/= difficulty.
its amusing to see folks defending the new elites/advanced ridiculous hp as if it represents some kind of incredible difficulty.
We did warn you that Elite is not for everyone. Its pretty extreme. Seriously, most players should not be able to do it.
But please note, that have already had some pretty well organized fleets blazing through Elite with apparent ease. It kinda blows me away honestly. We want to make a real challenge for our top players, so if players are succeeding easily (and they are), expect it to probably get harder.
Or in other words...
"If we don't significantly ramp up the difficulty to impossible mode we can't sell more ships/gear/upgrades/etc. Thankfully the ego players will cover for us by saying it's still too easy and if anything it should be made harder."
Challenge isn't created by simply bumping up the amount of health an enemy has and the amount of damage it's attacks can do. All you did was up the gear requirements... sure it may be possible for a coordinated team to "breeze" through it with complimentary healing and attacks but let's talk about how successful "premade team only" content was last time you tried it? I do recall the STFs going through a few major overhauls due to the fact there was very little player interest for content that required specific complimentary builds to complete.
Most players queue up through a public channel and content that requires a team to have a coordinated skill set between the entire team is very difficult to put together in a public channel. Throwing out the "Elite's not for you" line is just a condescending way to bait people into doing buying gear in order to be competitive.
Challenge is great, artificially ramping up the hit points and damage output to sell more T6/Lockbox ships is just a money grab. Using ego players to cover for you is just sad....
The only remaining question is how long until it's revised... If only Gozer was here to lay out some absolute unwaivering facts of how things will never change this little cycle would be complete.
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
first toon, new lvl 50 Sci MK x green blue mix healer Varanus, 4 people peeled off to start, when people got organized and stayed in healing ranged, we won, minimal issues, so, sci healer Mk X blue green, very possible in CE (A)

It was actually mentioned in the patch notes yesterday:
Known Issues:
The following PVE queues are temporarily unavailable:
Azure Nebula Rescue
Khitomer Vortex
No Win Scenario
Storming the Spire
The Vault Shuttle Event
Fleet projects that require items such as Photon Torpedoes will not accept the required items to complete the project.
Some ship consoles cannot be reclaimed in the Reclaim Store once the ship is upgraded.
The Vaadwaur missile in The Battle of Korfez has incorrect art.
The new Intel power Kinetic Magnet does not function properly on all items.

Join date is wrong, I've actually been around since STO Beta.
True alters don't have a "main". Account wide unlocks for all unique event rewards!!
Actually, STO hasn't been Escorts Online for years, its Escorts/Vapers/A2B Cruisers/Romulans/lockboxes Online.
And thanks to almost 400 parti-gens/Flow Caps being available, scis now work too.
Just because you don't know how to pilot your ship, doesn't mean it cannot do all the new stuff. it just means you cant.
VR Mk XII Equipped T5s with competent pilots were beating this stuff on Tribble, so don't blame the equipment.
Yep, the problem here is that key-mashing and FAW spam is not a substitution for tactics and target choice. They will not get your through advanced content.
if the space mobs could have the half of a tribble's brain, this would be better. we neee more HB (heavy brain) not HP :P
ground Vaadwaurs are good, they flank you, they crouch, and they don't stay close to each others, a good improvement; i want the same thing is space, thx ::)
