I had this problem in Tribble before DR went live. I posted numerous in the forums and submitted multiple bug reports. Nothing was ever done about it. Now season 10 is live and the Mac client crashes every one or two minutes on the Holodeck server. It doesn't matter what I'm doing in the game, where I am, or what is happening. The game crashes all the time. Again, here are my computer specs.
Takes about a minute but the sound blips, goes and then the entire app crashes. The crash tool doesn't even come up to try and grab information and send it out. Was kinda excited about the new content. Now I can't even play old content. At some point an actual thin OS X client container should be written that does away the layers of WINE hacking going on. In the meantime please just treat the mac client as something that should at least run during a major launch.
Posted this in the thread mhall85 linked to, but another commonality with us crashing mac users seems to be this error message popping up at the bottom of the screen during the Delta Rising title screen and into the Character Select screen:
I've been having this issue on tribble with a Mac mini (Mid-2011) and today live on an iMac (21.5" mid-2011). The former has Intel HD3000 graphics and the latter has AMD 6770.
Meanwhile the game works on my Retina Macbook Pro (13" early 2013) with Intel 4000 graphics.
Same OS on all. Same settings.
Looks like most of the reports have nVIDIA 7xx driven Macs.
Maybe cider issues with some (most) video hardware?

Just checked the @trekonlinegame official Twitter account, and someone tweeted about the Mac issues.
According to the reply, the team is looking into it. Would be nice if they updated us in here, once they know something (or at least acknowledge that they know we exist!).

This is day one of an expansion...I am willing to bet they are up to their necks in bugs and system crashes...I'd rather they keep their nose to the grindstone and work it out than to come here and tell us they are working on it...which we already know.
Yes I am a little frustrated I can't get in and play for more than a few minutes but this is what you deal with playing MMOs
Your pain runs deep.
Let us explore it... together. Each man hides a secret pain. It must be exposed and reckoned with. It must be dragged from the darkness and forced into the light. Share your pain. Share your pain with me... and gain strength from the sharing.

Sorry, but I'm a little worried that they are not working on it. My reason for unbelief is that this issue was brought up numerous times in the forums by myself and others while it was still being tested on Tribble. The issue was never acknowledged; no replies in the forums, no mention in the Tribble release notes, nothing. The only acknowledgment that I have been able to find is a post by Captain Smirk in the general discussion forum directing us to post Mac crash issues in the Mac forum; that's it.
Perhaps they are working on it. I wish they would tell us so.

Fair points, but I have to agree with devencombs. Mac users tend to be forgotten about, and you have devs posting in other threads in this sub-forum with short replies.
I'm totally willing to wait, don't get me wrong... but, still, it would be nice to get a tiny acknowledgement at some point soon.

And I have never seen a dev post in that sub-forum.

As a test after reading this I used an app that lets me force the integrated Intel graphics to be used at all times, just to take the nVIDIA GPU out of the equation. Obviously the graphics were pretty low, but the crash happened all the same.
It's not just a mac issue as PCs are having the same issue

Crashing like crazy on my 27" iMac. Same issue as others. Really enjoy the game, and was just starting to make some headway with getting some fun gear before DR and constant crashiness.
The game was always somewhat crashy on Mac, but it wasn't unplayable. This is just silly, though.
Same problem here on my MacBook Pro Retina. I've got 8 GB of DDR3, a 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7, an NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1024 MB, and Mac OS X 10.8.5.
Everything was working swimmingly until yesterday. Post-DR launch, I rarely go more than a few minutes without the program crashing.
Having the same problem on my iMac. The game is always crashing since Delta Rising is out!!! Sometimes it is stable for 10 minutes, then again it even crashes just in the character selection screen. This is very frustrating !!! Cryptic guys, please do something !!
I would like to point out that running a VM or emulator, and having to spend extra money on said programs, is NOT a solution to the Mac problems. That's passing the buck. No one should have to pay for an extra piece of software when there *should* be a completely viable native option of the game.
Here's hoping we get a fix soon! Thanks for the hard work, devs!!!

I've trashed STO, reinstalled, and am currently re-patching to see if this will help.

Also, the Mac version of the Cryptic Error Tracker lists no number, so I couldn't give you one if I wanted to.

I'm running an early 2008 mac pro,
2 x 2.8 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
16GB Ram
ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256mb
OS 10.9.4
Quite sad about this. Was able to play a few stfs and fleet actions but it's not practical as I often crashed while in the middle of fighting.
I don't think I'll be playing at all until this is fixed.

Glad to hear that worked for you. I'm going to try that myself now.
Run it via Windows Steam and all should be well.
