Saddend by my experiances in the delta quadrant

captinwh0captinwh0 Member Posts: 783 Arc User
I barly have the energy to put this post up.

I was enjoying my time in delta for a while. but then the missions that get you to explore all the new systems that came in. don't get me wrong I like to explore, but as an extra thing to enjoy later. not as a requirement.

anyhow the real reason I am saddend is that our equipment as it stands now is gravely inadequate. the ships you encounter will have high defence so most of your shots missed. and hulls of 200.000+

I spent 3 and a half hours on one mission. it isn't that you cant take the hits, you can. however I will say the cluster mines they have will oneshot an obelisk with full health and BFI.

it takes way too long to take any of them down, its not challenging its tiedious.

it starts off fantasic, then the game attempts to ramp it up. and goes about it all wrong.

hear is a few cuts of a vid I made to show you what I mean

So... we need to learn how to fight them? It was no different when the Voth were introduced. They were pretty tanky as well.

You're holding out aren't you? I don't see the issue. You need Mk XII gear, sure. But a T5U is clearly competitive.

i didn't have these issues with the content. yeah, the queues on advanced or elite are supposed to be hard but the regular content was a cake walk. since all the queues don't need to be played on advanced or elite i'm not seeing the issues the op is. just don't play the events on advanced or higher if you're not good enough; and don't play the events that can't be less then advanced.

I don't mind if hard. What I want is a Good Enemies UI. If they fight like Bricks with lazers that just boring. I want enemies that use abilitys and have enough sense to heal when thier about to die. UI is very important.

Sadly, these devs can't seem to be able to get out of the CoH/CO mentality.

So true, rattler2. Kinda ironic: We need to play these missions and fight these foes... to get what we need to effectively battle them. (Meaning: earning Delta Marks, mission rewards.) Then again, it's like that everywhere in the game.

Good video, captinwh0. Thank you for sharing!

True. Although our KDF toons can cry out "QAPLA!!!" as their T6 Mat'ha ships bring on the glorious disruptor barrages... ;)

that is exactly how I would describe it, I am lvl 59 now and I am finding it tedious. in escorts. crusers and carriers. however at the start when they are showcasing all the crazy new abilities, it was a heck of a lot of fun. but now it is long ad dragged out. I was using an avarge ship to see if your average noob ft2 leveler could do it.

my temporal destroyer once got 75k spike damage according to the dps meter. it rolls around 7-11 k depending on my power lvls. its my fav ship to play "pop the borg" in. but even then I couldn't get the hull down. see cannons mostly miss becaouse of the crazy defence the have. I like that the devs gave the assalt ships thrusters and hae always moving. its fun. its just all the others that drag it out

That really doesn't look like it's going to be very fun. two and a half hours, on one quest? Overkill.

Do you work for the company White Knight?

Your posts appear to show you have not taken part in the the Alpha/Beta, yet you feel able to comment.

Have you had any experience of the Alpha Q yourself yet? or are you just shooting out quips?

Sadly, this is STO. You will never find good AI, just tougher enemies, same than easy ones but with 10 times more shields, more hp and flow capacitors maxed.

    I'll say I was a bit disappointed.

Upgraded all the gear on my JHAS to MK XIV epic and it still takes forever to kill anything on normal in the Delta Quadrant. It would seem there are still some balance issues to work out.

Just hope they adjust it before it goes live. If not, well, I can't say I'm looking forward to spending a couple million dil upgrading my ship to max so it can be significantly less effective than it is now.

I think that's the key here. Leveling/upgrading should make your character feel more powerful, not less.

I hope not. I got tired of killing Voths the first day they released em. And the equipment i had was just green and blue. lol. Voth were harder, but far from being "tanky". Only when they use the shield skill they can tank, if not they die like flies.

The problem i see here, trying to kill several ships with 200k of hp can be a pain if you dont have the best equipment of the best. As the op said, i cant accept to waste more than 30-45 minutes in a mission. It is a total time eater. If they are going to force us to use the best of the best just to avoid hours of suffering.. that is a bad move... really bad.

That's probably true. They said you could do everything in DR with your T5 ship. They didn't say you'd be able to do it easily or well...

    Interesting video.

EDIT - I'm reminded of my last day in EVE Online when a Corp-mate told me the average play time for a solo Battleship mission was four hours.

lol I will be uplading vids soon of my delta quadrant adventures. you will find I chose that ship to see if ur standard f2p/noob could do it.

I also used a temporal destroyer with all sets. a xindi dred, an adv obelisk wi elete and my multi vector.

thease guys gas just under 1,50k hull, but some have 220,000 hull. I foud cannons inifective because they have crazy defencive values. and they have cluster mines that will one-shot you. and they shoot drones which use very strang tractor beam (sort of) at you

Agree with this. The AI enemies I have faced so far had way way too much hull. I know they have said they want to reduce the effectiveness of AOE attacks, but I do think the current 'balance' on tribble has gone too far in this direction.

Some of the missions were creative and fun, but they took far too long as a result of this wealth of additional AI HP

if I remember rightly there was a mission similar to this on the romulan story line, the devs should really do missions like this by breaking the enemy ships into smaller groups similar to the aid the deferi missions.
having said that the way you seemed to be tackling them seemed strange as you were skipping from ship to ship doing a little damage on one then letting it repair itself when you skiped to the next.

can you team on this mission, it might be better to get some fleet mates in on the action even if it means waiting till they catch up to your part of the storyline.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
