I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
check the stats against the Shadow again, then look up "Qin Raptor" on STOwiki.
The MaHa's a product-improved Qin. (at least it's not saddled with an Ensign Tac...)
What the numbers mean:
Patrol Escorts, FPE's, Defiants, and Shadows can all get into your rear/side arc and stay there, knocking your crew down and shredding your hull with impunity with very-very-very common 'piercing' traits, weapons, and skills, and you don't have the turn rate or accelleration to get out of that fire or bring that massive main gun to bear against them.
The Shadow and the Bugship share a higher turn rate and impulse mods, and superior inertial, the Defiant has the same inertia with better turn rate.
Point being: DO NOT get caught out Alone in a MaHa.
Corrected the Impulse Mod, you optimist you, and... when you say Shadow do you mean the Phantom? Or did Cryptic localize the Dev Blog into another language and the translations converted the name?
I do agree with your general assessment, though. I don't hate the Mat'Ha, I'm just not that impressed with it compared to its competitors. The Starship Trait is probably what will sell me on the ship, but I have no intention of buying the Mat'Ha for at least a month... I anticipate a solid hit from the nerf bat on Reciprocity for the Feds and Overwhelming Force for the KDF. If something looks too good to be true, it probably is, right? Then again... they do some crazy stuff now and again. :P
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.

it will take longer than a month for the nerf bat. they still have to make the money off this ship. then milk the fleet version. when sales finally start to slack off then we will get hit.
Trophies for killing FEDS ahh those were the days.
Y'know...folks...we were foolish. It's been stated time and time again, don't EVER trust what Geko says.
He said we'd hate the Ma'ha.
And well, we believed him. Thank god we were wrong in this case.
I was worried, really and truly worried about the KDF ships sucking hard that they'd be releasing. I'm glad to be wrong.
Heh I told you.
I mean, I'm aware of the history and their previous mistakes related to the KDF - but releasing a new expansion with new tier of ships and making ships suck on purpose would be an immense waste of developer resources for nothing.
I know Cryptic has done some very questionable things in the past, but I really don't think that even they are that asinine to throw away clear profit "just because".
As it turns out, the 2 T6 ships they've given us so far are simply awesome in every regard. They look good, they feel Klignon and thay have the stats needed. I'm very happy to see this and now my investment in them won't be just to support the KDF, but because I'll use the living TRIBBLE out of those ships.
I hope that following the excellent Mogh Class, the Mat'Ha and Qib are an indication of a trend that Cryptic is finally realizing what KDF players want and expect from their ships.
My mat'ha raptor will be so worn out come level 60 it will be a part of my evil kitty! The 5 mastery level trait from the Qib will support the mat'ha no end! Klingons rejoice our time for a true raptor is at hand!!
A tier 6 raptor. Come to me, my body is ready for the glory and awesomeness.

From what I see Cryptic could care less about PVP or KDF. I want a Tier 6 ship but they are simply not going to make a decent one for KDF. Our only hope it that they sell STO to someone greedy enough to cherish everyone's money equally.
I find it sad that they are not taking KDF seriously. They could make a lit of money but choose not too. Mostly because they have KDF bent over. We have to buy a tier 6 ship because we cannot compete as it is. So no matter how much that ship sucks we still have to have one. We have not seen a new ship in ages so they know we will buy it.
I wonder why they hate KDF so Much? Make me think that someone caught his boyfriend cheating with a guy dressed as a Klingon.
I wished I could say that I am going to be strong and not buy the raptor. But honestly I think we all know what we are going to do. Cryptic wins and we lose.
But still I go to Ker-rat every Friday and fly head on into a Fed-Ball and kill one of them. Even though they have me outnumbered 15-1 they cry and moan because they think it is so unfair because one of them died. Maybe they have to give Feds an advantage because if KDF had equal ships the cuddled Feds would cry even more.
A very good ship IMHO and the possibility of a 4-th tac.console on the fleet version is a no brainer to me. The high K'tinga-like turn rate and the battlecloak will make it tons of fun!
We were speaking about the Qib Starship Trait - "Advanced Firing Solutions" (it's explained in the blog I linked). It's an awesome trait for any ship utilizing cannons, but on that new brutal beast of utter destruction that is the Mat'Ha Raptor, combined with the Mat'Ha's own starship trait it will be insanely usefull.
I can most certainly get behind the new ships. So I imagine I will be buying them very soon. The fleet version is going to be very boss when it does get released I'm sure.
As for the pivot point, I just run PVE content, so it makes no difference to me. If I can fly a Bortas... I can fly a raptor.

Thanks for the link. I didn't see this ship on the main web page where they show cased the raptor. I knew we were getting one but didn't know the name and hadn't seen what it looked like or its stats. I have to say it is a really cool looking vessel and looks very much Klingon. I believe you are right when you stated the Devs build better looking KDF ships than they do Fed ones.
I'm just wondering if once you unlock the ship trait does it stay with that ship or is it part of the character's traits? And I'm not sure I'm liking the whole ship specialization thing, I tend to bounce from ship type to ship type to get a varied experience from game play. I'll be very disappointed if I can't specialize in more than one type of ship.

Indeed they do. I absolutely love 95% of the KDF ships they made.
As far as the Qib goes, as an example of a Klingon "intel" vessel I also think it looks very good and very Klingon, compared to what the Fed "intel" ships turned out to look like. I also love the grey hull, reminds me of the hulls from TOS.

The ship masteries are per ship only, with the fact that on similar ships of same/similar classes they may overlap. So a T6 or a T5-U ship is stuck with her own set of 4 masteries.
The ship trait however, like the "Advanced Firing Solutions" I previously mentioned is suposed to go into a new "ship trait" tab when DR will launch, which I assume will have 4 slots just like we have now for ground/space rep.traits. So these ship traits can be used on any ship you have as long as you own the ship that gets the trait in order to unlock it.
The specialization thing is for our chars, it will be an alternative form of leveling beyond lvl 50. It is not tied to the ship and there will be more specializations in the future and they can also be switched, there's just a limited amount you can have active, similar to the traits.
Rough thing about supporting the KDF is that there just has been too much time transpiring that I have supported the KDF without adequate results from the STO team when it comes to the KDF.
I'm not going to say they didn't do anything but the fact of the matter still exists that the KDF has a trend where it gets nothing unless the federation and romulan content is fixed ahead of schedule. As well we are getting a battlecruiser that compared to these other T6 ships are way underpowered based on stats on paper. As well we aren't getting any kind of T6 intel ship or T6 ship in general for the bird of prey line. The other side of the coin also is the ships that have or will have battle cloaks for the KDF were sidelined basically due to the sheer power the romulan republic traits to benefit from battle cloaks without much of any cost. However for the KDF to only get the romulan trait you must pay an astronomical fleet credit tax and then no possible way to enhance the duration of the cloak ambush as a KDF-non RR player. I just keep seeing them sideline the beloved KDF faction to the point that I really can't play this game anymore being I have mostly KDF characters.
So best of luck on the expnasion but unless something changes on what the KDF is getting between now and the launch of it I just can't see myself coming back to play it.

Both the Roms and KDF are in the same company now, though the KDF has been in this situation since Day 1 of STO going live. The difference really is that Rom-centric players are finally realizing themselves how Cryptic treats faction development outside the Feds.
Both of the non-Fed factions have gotten the short end of the development stick for DR while the Feds get extra stuff.
The Roms have gotten all their love from Cryptic only from LOR release timeframe (very extensive, OP love) and haven't seen s**t since. Wham-Bam-Thank-You-Ma'am. Here's some change, go call a taxi.
No T6 BOP or Carrier. Right now, I don't care if there's no T6 KDF Science Vessel, but a T6 BOP & Carrier would help things out on KDF selection for the tier.

I did say over a year ago that Romulans will get treated like the KDF sooner or later which turns out to be right. alot of pure Roms fans says this would not happan... what could say they now?
This should be no surpirse, and we should already at this point expect the content releases to be in a 2-1 ratio favoring the Feds over both the KDF and Roms combined in the future.
I've notice that the common thinking of most of the Dev team and amatuer Fed Players is... One faction with most players + more Content = More Money, instead of mutple factions + par content = more money which is already proven in other MMO's games.

Would be nice if they actually would hear our this issue and maybe get a plan together to make this a problem of the past. As we and most any KDF or even now Romulan players can agree if there is one thing actually needing a revamp its the way they choose what content to build and quantity. The other thing too if they don't plan to build at the same rate with non-federation content they need to be flexible on the ships they do build for us. The other side of the token I had been pondering is sometimes the issue boils down to a mechanic which is usually tied down to a weapon or console. Possibly like the vesta for example that ship has been in the game for a very long time now but yet we don't have anything KDF to compare that too. If they are not going to build us ships like the vesta we should atleast be able to buy the parts for dilithium to use on specific kdf/romulan ships to a degree where that federation content isn't completely passing kdf/romulans by. Thinking of it they could have just cloned a vesta and turned it into a bop minus the hanger. Oh man if we had a true science ship that was a bop that would be incredible too bad they didn't make one might have made DR worth checking into.
