Here are a couple of beauty shots of the new Intrepid model, now available on Tribble! Go forth, and check it out for yourselves.

Hats off to our awesome ship art team for some truly incredible work! Thank you all for going the extra mile to rebuild the Intrepid as she deserved to be seen.

It's an incredibly nice model, especially the deflector array area. Makes me wish the Galaxy-class had got a pass like this when the bundle pack was made.

The Constellation model impulse exhaust are coming from the wrong parts of the ship.

See the orange-yellow glowy bits in this picture? Those are the impulse exhausts. Cryptic, please fix this.

@mods -- any chance we could get this thread stickied? I don't want to presume that it is the equal of its predecessors, but it might prove to be a handy reference for interested parties.

Not sure if it is just me or not; but, when I was flying the Negh'Var I noticed an annoying little problem with the windows textures and it also relates to the Qu'Daj. When you change the window textures on either model, it only changes the windows on the mission pods on both ships.

On the Starfleet side; I'm sure it doesn't really need to be emphasised; but, I need to do this to get it off my chest. The Envoy is the most horrible thing I have ever seen. Everything about that ship is wrong. It should be taken out of the game and either completely redone or trashed. No human being should be subjected to such absolute sloppiness, even in a free to play game.

    Another for the Vo'quv.

Application of fleet badges - (as viewed from aft) left hand side badge applies correctly but right hand side is reversed/mirrored. This is especially irking for numbered fleet badges (mine is an 18 for my fleet 18 Percent and it turns into an 81 on the right hand side).

Oh, no worries! You don't sound ignorant at all. I've always thought that the in-game Nova is a particularly crude model, as illustrated by a comparison of the in-game Rhode Island model with the CGI Rhode Island model used in the show. You can see the rough texture seams and overall poor quality of the model quite well in comparison.

Admittedly, no MMO ship model is going to match a television or film CGI model -- but the modeling standards seen on the Odyssey, the Tempest, or the Avenger models radically outstrip the quality of the launch-era models. Even among the tier-2 refits introduced way back when (Exeter, Gladius, Rhode Island), the Rhode Island was the only one to not receive a brand-new model with the type 6 skin, since it was a modification of the Nova model.

Granted, the Rhode Island and its Nova cousins are a pet project of mine. Do I think it should get a facelift before some of the other hero ships, such as the Galaxy or Sovereign (which is another favorite of mine)? No. That being said, however, I'm eagerly looking forward to the day that the ship art team can give the Rhode Island and others their due in STO.

And if the kind, good-looking people who schedule time for our awesome ship artists happen to be reading, I can think of no better excuse to update the Rhode Island and Nova than the appearance of Harry Kim and the Rhode Island herself! Just saying... :D

Seeing those pictures reminded me of an old gripe of mine. If your hull has panel gaps so big they can clearly be seen from hundreds of meters away, then it can't even perform a hull's most basic function (keeping the air in). I suppose this is more to do with the hull materials than the ship models themselves; but it definitely isn't right.

The ship art team need to fix the dauntless class, as they have done the secondary hull wrong.
The secondary hull does not round off at the bottom.

Do any of the Ship Artists actually visit this thread? While a lot of these bugs are annoying and need to be fixed, some are just worse than others, like the MVAE/AE mini-nacelle sticking up on any saucer other than the Prometheus.

I do think I know the problem though.. whatever 'hook' is used to center the mini nacelle is the same hook used on the Prometheus saucer, no matter which one is actually selected. It'd be nice if they'd actually fix the other three saucer hooks so they nestle and extend properly.

I don't see the point of this thread anymore... Defiant/escort bridges(Fed) have had glitched carpets for over 2 years. TWO years. Something that should be quick and easy to fix has been ignored for 2 years. The developers literally care nothing for detail or for this game if it does not grant immediate profit and gratification.

But I've come to accept that. Only Star Trek MMO that we have.

Does anyone else think the next fed ship should have a sphere instead of a saucer?

Or that we should get some new fed alien ships, like Tellarite(which I think could get a star wars like optional skin), or Bolian, or Trill, since they would be less recognizable than a Starfleet ship?

Just noticed this - beyond the ridiculous aft hardpoints (again, depressing going from the Ambassador), the saucer is missing the RCS blisters on the Noble-class assault cruiser. It has indents for it, but nothing in those indents.

On Tribble - the preview of the Guardian class has spots that you can see through on the neck under the saucer impulse engines. It's hard to tell with the preview window, but it looks like you can see straight through the ship on them.

You can really see it when you can move the ship around in the preview window

The free Klingon Dyson ship (and presumably the rest of them) have weird front torpedo hardpoints. Not only are they all the way back there, but they appear to be inside the ship, thus clipping through the hull. It also appears the torps clip through that triangular bit that comes off the side of the lip.

Qin Raptor (Mirror, not that it should matter), specifically the Birok costume (don't know if it applies to the Qin costume): torps come out of normal hardpoint, but at an odd angle.

You can see the weird arc it goes through. "But the target was traveling perpendicular to you" I can hear you say. Well, feast your eyes on this:

The target is heading straight at me, and yet the torps still head out at that weird angle (on the other side of the ship; there are two front torp hardpoints, like with the Dyson ship). Even if that was a miss (it wasn't), they wouldn't start heading out that way.

The Oberth c-store ship has that with the dual beam bank, it shoots straight but the right beam is off by maybe two or more yards(if the ship was actual size).

Taking advantage of the ship sale this weekend, I picked up a T5 Excelsior. In the ships tailor, I gussied her up with the classic Excelsior look (rather than refit). She mostly looks great, but, having been in love with the look of this ship since 1983, one thing has been bugging me like crazy!

The coloring along the neck of the ship is all wrong. It's non-existent, in fact, as the neck on my Excelsior is simply the same color as the rest of the hull. The neck of the Excelsior class should be dark, as seen in this picture:

    IMG_1724.JPG

I'm wondering if this is some sort of ship tailor glitch, 'cause it seems too glaring a detail to have been overlooked. Or perhaps I'm missing out on how to make it dark, in the ship tailor? I noticed skin options for neck, but that only colored the very top sliver of the neck itself.

If anyone knows how to make that neck properly dark, then please share!

That's a glitch, the excelsior neck is supposed to be dark in-game.

Also, I'm noticing that the Guardian fires from the wrong spots in its aft arc. There are three obvious phaser strips on the stern and sides of each nacelle, but instead aft fire comes from just above the shuttle bay or at the base of the engineering hull, which makes no sense as there are no strips in these locations.

Before I forget! The type 2 Guardian hull (Which seems to only have a lack of dark plating as a difference oddly.) goes blank when attempting to apply type 1 windows to it. Any other window type correctly displays, however.

Since the Intrepid update, there is now a texture (or maybe it's a lighting/shader issue?) glitch when using the Intrepid saucer with the Discovery hull. There's a blank white area (roughly rectangular, or trapezoidal, I guess) right behind the seam where the saucer and hull meet, on the top of the hull. I don't have a screenshot right now, but will try edit and add one later.
    Live long, and prosper.

I've given up hope that anything is going to be done about the serious flaws with many of the ships in this game, they'll just keep spitting out their quirky designs and try to milk as much money as they can out of the IP and to hell with everything else.:(

The Yellowstone has a strange issue where there seems to be a gap on the underside of the hull between the cockpit and the aft section.

One time, that the model dev will bring us models of starships, without any silly errors, glitches and the whole stuff.

This is the point, why i wait till i have enough dilithium to buy ships instead to buy them with money.

They should add mod support, so the community can design the ships right if the payd devs are not able for this.

I want to reiterate that we are amazed at the feedback and support in this thread from you guys. We are setting up a new bug reporting workflow for ships and I hope to use this thread as a primary source for issues, on top of our internal list.

The work here is going to make our game better.

This, of course, does not mean that all the bugs will be fixed instantly, it just means that we now have a better method of sorting and finding bugs, which should focus our time much better.

Again, we are very appreciative of the effort here!

That's because the yellowstone model was originally created to be a floor piece, or to fly in cutscenes. It was only later that they made it for sale, and they never updated the model.

Customization of the Guardian has been broken by the addition of the Type 7 material.

When using type 7, the ship has black Andromeda patterns on it regardless of which pattern/color you select (including none). And yes, I know the "randomize" workaround for editing pattern colors. This appears to be an issue of the pattern actually being built into the material.

Secondly, the window options are now tied to the materials. Selecting any window option changes the material.

I noticed this as well when I was customizing my Fed Dyson destroyer, Selecting one would change the other and I could only separate them by going back and forth between materials and windows to finagle the selection I wanted, but this isn't really a model problem as much as a ship tailor problem unless the two tie in with each other.
