tailor and costume issues thread, I humbly offer to compile and curate a similar list of ship costume issues. In this post, and the posts below, let's list and document all bugs, glitches, and problems pertaining to ship costumes and models. This includes models from launch that aren't quite up to par with the present level of model quality.
As our ship artist friend crypticquack said of such a list,
Yes it would help a ton! Our list is hobbled together from posts or years time, and has been touched by many people, so it isn't the best organized. In fact one of my current priorities is to find time to organize our ship bugs into an easy to read list...The sticky thread of ship errors is a great start.
Unfortunately the awesome
(formerly) sticky thread in question is nearly four years old, and has been archived. It therefore cannot be updated in a concise way.
Full credit goes to all those who worked on the original thread. It was created by Angelsilhouette, and its predecessor was created by Jes. This thread stands on the shoulders of giants, as this work would be impossible without them. I will port relevant information over from that thread as efficiently as possible.
And as Lord Havelock himself asked in his great thread, let's abide by a few simple rules in this thread:
Please keep it civil and above all, on topic. This is not a complaint thread, it's about working with the Devs to get things fixed. Also, please DO NOT include the pictures directly in the thread, just post links to your photos. Too many photos makes the thread hard to read (especially when people start quoting/re-posting the pix).

- Secondary hull needs to be entirely reshaped to be simpler and more planar, with a less jagged profile
- Primary hull shape needs to be smoothed, with the lower bank of forward windows added
- Optional medical insignia and fleet pennants would be a great touch

- MODEL ERROR: Oslo pylon does not attach to Zephyr nacelle, causing clipping issues
- MODEL ERROR Thunderchild phaser arrays overlap escape pods
- BUG Oslo: all rear turrets fire from port hardpoint
- Oslo and Zephyr are missing shuttlebays and phaser strips are incorrect or missing

- Nacelles and forward nose section should be realigned to be less angled from hull
- In-game model lacks a name/registry spotlight
- Highly distorted/laughably tiny ship name and registry on Sao Paulo
- Status: Upgrade Complete to Gallant and Vigilant classes. Looks great!
Tier 5:
Assault Cruiser (Sovereign and variants) (Sovereign
Filming Model Reference,
Nemesis CGI Model Reference)
- BUG The Regent port nacelle will sometimes be stuck with the Type 6 hull material
- MODEL ERROR The underside of the Sovereign saucer displays window errors with Type 6 material
- The Sovereign, Imperial, Noble, and Majestic models could all use considerable smoothing/facelifting
- Poorly placed beam hardpoints clip through the hull frequently, do not use all arrays properly
- Regent components do not play well with non-Regent components: 1, 2, 3
- Regent name and registry are way too small, and hence look silly
- The Sovereign's ship name and registry occupies the wrong part of the saucer section
- The Sovereign's deflector could use some tweaking
- The Noble saucer's name and registry is awkwardly placed over a raised hull section, and looks sloppy
- The Noble name and registry are also reversed; the name should appear above the registry
- The Noble and Majestic models are particularly coarse, even blocky. The Sovereign is not much better
- The Noble's aft-firing beam hardpoints all emit from the shuttlebay area, which looks silly
Star Cruiser (Vanguard and variants)
- MODEL ERROR The ship's name and registry are sometimes distorted, sometimes obscured 1 2
- MODEL ERROR Ship's name, registry, and spotlight float kind of high off the hull
- BUG Forward impulse exhausts leave no trails
- Models could use some serious smoothing, particularly in the forward sections

- The canon Nebula had at least two different pod variants; it would be cool to see more pod options

- Hull is not thick enough - the entire vessel should be much taller overall, giving it a far greater height
- Curve of the wings is wrong, it should be straighter at the front
- Wings need to be about twice as thick, see above
- The vertical curve of the wing should be a little less steep -- the studio model is quite planar
- There are three indented squarish-sections (impulse intakes) missing on the front of the wings
- The bulge on the underside of the head section should be thicker and more rounded
- There is an additional box missing from the bulge on the underside of the head
- There is a fore-firing torpedo launcher at the front of each missing weapon pod-- the weapon mount point for the existing forward torpedo launcher should be moved, and should be replaced by one on each of the new weapon pods - the hardpoint currently being used as the launcher is either the main disruptor or a docking probe
- The triangular mission pod at the top-rear of the ship needs to be about twice as big

The Discovery and Cochrane-class saucers for the LRSV are missing engine trails for the saucer-mounted impulse engines.
Opening a customized ship in the ship tailor, particularly ones with Fleet components, can cause the ship to reset to a default template in the tailor.
A specific combination of hull and pylon choices on the Recon SV causes a gap between the hull and the pylons.
There used to be a picture here, but they changed signatures and I can't be bothered to replace it.
I've been adding your feedback in as I receive it, and I'm working on transferring material from the old Angelsilhouette thread (props to Jes as well). I am also on the lookout for any great photo reference material, such as that offered by amosov78.

Fleet Ar'Kif is missing fleet skin. It comes with the fleet skin but it's missing in the tailor so you can't access it once you modify the ship.
Fleet B'rel missing D'Gavma parts. Retrofit has it but fleet is missing.
Mogh/Fleet Mogh has a bug where all of the armor pieces do not load their textures and display as white, This but does not affect all ships but once it affects yours it affects it everywhere as i have tested on 5 computers and 8 installs and every time the white textures were there. And i can be right next to a mogh with fully working textures.
ALL FED SHIPS: When clicking RANDOMIZE the emblem can lose it's colors and turn white. This can be fixed on some ships by choosing a template but on ships like the Avenger with no template once this bug happens your emblem is bugged forever.

the heavy cruiser costumes stargazer and Dakota do not have mirrored nacelles, like the prometheus and its variants do. basically, the bottom 2 should be flipped upside down.
Cheyenne nacelles are a bit long too, but i like the creative license taken with the rest of it. unfortunately its a game launch model and pretty low end.

First of all, great job on the secondary deflector. It looks just like the original renders!
Bussard collectors should be red, not orange. They should also have caps at their fronts.
NCC-##### should not be on the nacelle; replace with some tech stuff.
The nacelles should also have some RCS thrusters at their rear.
The grill at the top of the saucer "hump," near the rear, should be black with grey outlines, not grey with black outlines. EDIT: This is a non-issue, as other pics of the Vesta have the grey with black outlines. However, making these lines more detailed would be nice.
If these issues were fixed, it would really be appreciated. Thanks!

It popped up when they updated with the last season - something about the Aquarius 'run' from the Enterprise F probably just made the Aquarius link to a lower res texture that isn't there for long distance shots.
The gap between pylons and hull on the Recon SV is visible when using the Polaris-class hull and any pylons other than the Polaris-class ones.
Screenshot showing extended saucer nacelle on Advanced Escort, along with mysterious impulse engine glows on the rear of the saucer - possibly caused by one of the vectors' impulse engines being visually active even when combined?

More generally, could people who are more familiar with the Defiant than I am take a look at the in-game model for me? Scour it for errors, inconsistencies, and such? It's not a ship I fly much, so I'd prefer to crowdsource the errors with that one.
There is no such thing as a 5 minute fix. The easiest fix for a ship takes at least 2 hours. From fetching the files, to investigating the issue, to problem solving the issue, to fixing the issue, to testing to make sure you didn't break 50 things, to checking in the issue, to writing up what the issue was and what you fixed.
There is a reason that seemingly simple things still exist. Making games is much more complicated then most want to accept.

Also - none of the saucer sep ships - Galaxy, Galaxy X, Odyssey (this one can be forgiven as no screen footage) show a battle bridge when separated - just a smooth neck assembly.
As to Defiant issues, it's a little low res/texture compared to new ships - but it's in fairly good shape. Though the Port nacelle does have a strange... 'scar' where the textures patterns end right above the registry number. It's something easy to pretend is just battle damage, though.
I definitely can appreciate that fact, and I understand that is particularly true of extremely detail-intensive work... like remodeling and texturing an iconic ship like the Galaxy or the B'rel. All the more reason that I (and others) are very grateful to you for encouraging threads such as this.

I agree, the model is a bit coarse, but it's in great shape compared to some (looking at you, Envoy). About that "scar"... any chance you (or another enterprising poster) could grab a screenshot of that?

It's the strange orange/black line/smear beneath the texture pattern. Looks like that on every Defiant nacelle, every paint scheme. (Just Defiant, not Sao Paulo, etc)
They changed that on purpose, like the DS9 team did to the Miranda. Original, modernized.
