Kazons: please don't be big players in X2

dracounguisdracounguis Member Posts: 5,358 Arc User
If you're not familiar with them check out the Conclusion section on Memory Alpha. Most who produced/acted on Voyager found them to be a failure. They failed as 'good' bad guys. Let's not beat this dead horse too much in the next expansion; please? At most they should be flunkies/henchmen for a real enemy. Just there for cannon fodder.
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

Agreed, they aren't even worthy as a lockbox species either. At least all indications are they indeed won't be central focus. It's going to be likely the Krenim in the end I should think, and that one other species that got awoken who's name I forget.

Yeah. They always had a bit of a poor mans klingon vibe around them. Some of their ships look not too bad. But thats pretty much it.

On the otherhand they could offer some punching-ball entertainment for KDF chars :D

I have never met a Star Trek fan who doesn't consider the Kazon a waste of airtime. Make me kill them? WTF? I'm killing teenagers? Make me learn about them? bleh. It's probably the worst set of villains in the history of Trek, and the producers openly admitted that.

In all honesty, since they don't develop new technology, that means that their ships are probably the same strength as seen in voyager. This means that it would take at LEAST 30 of their large carrier ships to be a threat to any modern alpha quadrant vessel. (Not even considering the even more advanced newer T6 ship.)

I'm actually looking forward to reducing the Kazon Population.

Lockbox is a sure thing. It's been revealed that they are part of X2, but there is also an unknown super enemy...rest assured kazon will be filler

Borg probably don't even bother to assimilate them.

Wasn't it already canon that they don't? Though with all the borg losses, they might have to change that outlook. :P

In all seriousness though, if it takes our modern ships more than two shots to kill a kazon carrier vessel (without a decent explanation), I'm skipping all kazon content. Which would be a first since Divide et Impera. The only two logical explinations I could think of are:
    1) They've become an Iconian servitor race (because Iconians)
    2) They're forcing other [more intelegent, less violent/agressive] races to make technology for them
The first is a cop out. The second seems like it would be unlikely for the gap between their ships and ours to be much smaller.

Actually, it would be a surprise if the Kazon are a huge threat or at least more than expected. According to the Kazon Intelligence Briefing, the new Maje of Kazon-Nistrim is implied to be Seska's son. Most Starfleet Officers would encounter them and expect an easy victory since the Kazon were only a threat due to Voyager being outnumbered. I am sure that a few Alpha Quadrant ships will fall to the Kazon due to underestimating them from the cunning of the new Maje.

Its SciFI; there could be a million explanations given while all of the sudden a typical Kazon Ship is as powerful as a Borg Tac Cube. But thats all then just clinging to a bad idea and making its badness the more obvious the longer its forced to run.

Theres a reason why voy designers at one point just broomed the whole Kazon idea under the carpet with a shame flushed red head.

I am not talking about a Kazon ship being as powerful as a Borg Cube. STO could make Kazons a tricky enemy to fight since obviously they can't overpower us. If Seska could almost destroy Voyager through a holographic simulation and not even being there, then her son could be a significant threat.

Considering Voyager could cripple, or even destroy several of their largest ships all at the same time, they are not even worthy of a main enemy.
I use to do 100K DPS, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

    People.....

Look at that intel section... the kazon are listed at level 1: Knowledge for the janitorial staff...

I am more interested in the last row of intel briefs...

As a general note: The more kazon i get to shoot, the better. Spacehobos without the decency to actually be hobos. They just look and "feel" like Spacehobos.

    Intolerable.

Hey now, don't be hating on the Kazon!

I can't wait for a Kazon lockbox - gonna get me a Kazon ship, slap the most expensive ultra rare stuff I've got access to on it and take it to PvP.
The sheer rage when I blow up someone with a Kazon will entertain me for months. You've just been pwned by the Kazon-Nistrim! lol :D

But anyway, expect them to be powerfull. The Nistrim has a Cardassian mind leading them now, so you can fully expect Cryptic to use that fact to make them more challenging.

boy has his mothers intelligence and brutality cardassians are known to have and his fathers leadership and need to be recognized. i wouldnt put it past the devs to turn the boy into some sort of new hakeev with the voice actor being the same, that would be rather cheap tbh.

Kazon lockbox ships will probably be T6 anyway :P Unless it's the first one coming with the expansion as a throwavay box so it doesn't mess with the sales of the cstore T6 ships.

It's been a very long time since voyager left the delta quadrant. The kazon could easily have made major technological advances in that time, or expanded their arsenal with defeated enemies' ships and technology. Don't just assume that they will be the same as they were back then. I don't expect them to be a major player in the upcoming expansion, but I do expect them to be fairly involved.

quite a bit of VO on sto, a long way since season 3 and i was around during those months. yeah, hakeev has a voice and a much larger role then before on the romulan side of things. i think almost every bit of dialogue the voice actor did for hakeev. i enjoyed the hakeev character because hes one of the most complete villains in the game.

My theory is the Nistrom came across a disabled Voth ship, and Seska jr was able to reverse engineer enough to upgrade Kazon systems. That is how he took over the Nistrom.

While not as powerful as a Voth ship, the upgraded ships are a match for anything from the Alpha quadrant.

They might be one of the lower level races you meet, with the higher ones being those in the higher security access levels.

    We will have to see.

People DONT want the kazon in STO, at least not as a main species, so im pretty sure we WILL SEE em. Its the classic (customers dont like / want this, so we do it anyways) cryptic manouver.

okay so let's think positively a moment. Since everyone has such a low opinion of the Kazon, then anything Cryptic does with them will be an improvement right?

And for those of you thinking that Cryptic has bad writers. Then think how much it will make the kazon encounters in Voyager look good.

This has been your cheerleader moment of the day.

I guess the developers needed somebody to replace those silly named races from the exploration clusters in the comedy relief department.

Guess the Kazon won by a landslide. :D
