I have little hope that Cryptic can fix the Romulan Doff mission before the event is over.

Oh, CaptainSmirk has already said as much. Unless they come up with something different on Monday the Romulans aren't getting this DOff this year ... or whenever it is they run this event again.

Here's a novel idea: just mail us Roms the doff.

Or put it up on the C-Store, only claimable by Romulan Captains (of either alignment)

They have already said how they are going to handle it. The RRF won't get theirs until next time when they run this event. I am up set but what can you do? TRIBBLE happens all the time so just deal with it.

Can not stress often enough how boooooring the academy part is when one have to run around competing with other players for those nodes that 4 times out of five don't give anything. :(

PLEASE make all nodes give something in future events.

And for every one of you that rage quits there are at least 2 new players to replace you. Your infinitesimal contribution to the game is irrelevant. Rage quit, and no one, especially PWE or Cryptic, will miss you. It's a pointless endeavor and idle threat. If you hate the game so much, and are so sick of the bugs, then just leave. The theatrics are entirely unnecessary.

There is a saying that if you have good service they will tell 1 person and then the message would stop there however if you have a bad experience they will tell at least 10 people. so when your saying at least two people will replace the people that rage quits that may not be true but that person will tell 10 people so it would mean Cryptic or PWE will lose 8 customers so even if they don't miss us they will still lose customers and I know a few people who are already saying what a bad game this is as soon as I said PWE was ones that ran the game.

This event annoyed me more than the anniversary Q Party asquite a few of the nodes was unstable but also the marks you get of them is so lw i took about a hour and a half to get the 75 to get a purple doff so this has stoped me doing it on more than one character

And yet despite 4 years of horrible bugs and incompetent devs (according to you), the game continues to bring in new people at a faster rate than those who leave. So apparently you're in the minority.

that maybe so but how many of these new gamers will pay for Zen to buy ships or master keys which pay there wages. I may be in the minority and I am playing this game less and less and I used to regulary buy Zen and have stopped that. If things don't change I will be finding another game to pass time with and I don't care if two people replace me or if Cryptic miss me because I won't give a stuff about the game then and it would not be a rage quit but a boredom quit.

    Hey everyone,

Wanted to jump in to reply to the missing Romulan DOff contact. Rojal is indeed missing from New Romulus Command, and while we have been able to identify how this oversight was missed, unfortunately we will not be able to patch it back into place before the event ends.

This is totally an error on our end and we apologize for the missing contact.

While it is small consolation, and does not make up for the error, Romulan players are still able to get their allied special DOffs.

Speak to Lt Ferra and Captain Jarol at Starfleet Academy to receive your very rare Exocomp DOff.

Speak to Lt S'stas and Captain Laroj at the Klingon Academy to receive your very rare Reman DOff.

We have identified the missing Rojal as a bug that has prevented him from spawning, and we do apologize to everyone.

Sorry everyone! Don't forget to grab your allies DOffs and participate as much as you would like in the Particle Scanning Event for random quality DOffs, so you don't completely miss out!

This is going on my new "never forget" list to make sure the next time this event runs that everything is going according to plan.

So not going to just award T'ress to Romulans outright?

Fantastic work. You have outdone yourselves.

You know, I'm usually the last person to defend Cryptic, but, in all fairness, why should Roms be getting 2 purple doffs, whereas all other factions only get 1? in fact, it feels like ppl (including myself, at first) want to exploiit their alignment a bit, and and try and double-dip on the event. You get 1 exocomp, as per your Fed-alignment: that should suffice (not sure what Klinks are getting).

The fact that the event is broken to the tune of not letting you have a second doff, call that poetic justice.

Too bad Cryptic's bug fixing average isn't super. The KDF guy will probably be gone next time cause they fixed the Romulan one. How about you fix it and NOT WAIT A YEAR to run this event again?

Love how the bugs that benefit players get fixed real fast, but the ones that don't live for days/months/years. Funny, eh?

    Really?

    Really?

You can't rush a small patch? You can't extend the event just this once until you can patch? You're just going to let this thing that's on a relatively brief window of availability lapse because... why?

Y'know I make a great effort to look at Cryptic's decisions objectively, even the questionable ones, but for once, I kinda have to side with the "this is lazy, Cryptic" crowd. I mean how big a deal can fixing this bug be that a fix couldn't have been rushed out?

That's not how bug fixing works though. You can't predict if the fix will fix anything. If Cryptic "rushed" a fix out it might make the whole thing worse. It's unfortunate, but not game breaking.

The real fail here is the fact a second contact is needed to claim the doff in the first place.

This is the truest statement in the whole thread.

I don't think you understand how that works. The bug fix itself? Since they already know what's causing it, probably already done. Bringing down the server, however, applying the patch, and starting server up again, likely the usual 2.5 hours. People would have raged again, demanding the event be extended, etc. Also, as usual.

It's not about getting two Doffs.
For me, it would be perfectly fine for Romulans NOT to get their allies Doffs.

Although that is no real issue for me (it's an excomp, after all: just a cute little droid), I can respect your reason for wanting a true Rom doff.

As a long standing costumer of yours from the start of COH, this is like the last straw for me. Totally ashamed of you. You're right, it doesn't make up for it. It was your responsibility to make sure this actually worked before you set it and took the weekend off, how convenient for you to be able to ignore it. If you actually felt bad about it and actually wanted to set things right you'd FIX IT Monday and then let the event go on for another day or two instead of just ignoring the problem. Also how about instead of adding this to your make believe "never forget" list, how about you add this: "Fully test something and make sure it's properly working before we set it and take the weekend off."

I know this is just a little trinket and not super important but it IS an CONSTANT theme for all 3 of your games and everything you do from stuff you expect us to pay for, events, and expansions. Yes we want more content but of course we expect you to put some actual effort and above all else, PRIDE in it. Does turning in a product that doesn't work and then later ignoring it til next time (assuming you actually fix it next time) fill you with any real sense of disappointment or shame at all? Is there no pride in your art or products at all or just hope for attention and profit? Who knows how long it'll be before this event comes around to see if you actually did fix it or not, especially for an issue you admit is completely your fault but in no hurry to take responsibility for and address.

I can't help but wonder if the devs really know what they are doing and love what they do or if this is just a paycheck to them, me thinks that its that latter as time and time again they have shown no interesting in bug reports in the test server nor been very willing to make many bug fixes and every patch seems to bring even more bugs while they usually don't fix the existing one unless forced or if it is consider a main exploit......

Otherwise its business as usual which from a customer stand point is sickening at lease for me.

If I look at some of Tacofangs' work, I just *have* to conclude there's love in what they do. :) More love than time, though, probably.

As for bugs like these, it always bewilders me that a dev did not at least make 1 round, with a test character, to see if the mission actually works.

I will give you that, Tacofangs does come off as a passionate guy in what he does however I do wonder about the others though a few of the forum moderators do try but I feel like they are the ones taking the heat for the lack luster effort some of the devs do to make this a better game.

More content is always nice if its fun and engaging but lets not try to forget a game is only fun if its not overly grind and especially buggy, nothing hurt a games player base then mounting bugs in my opinion.

Well IMO I think everyone should be giving the rom doff if they have a romulan toon. As for getting a allied doff as well I would also be fine not getting that as for me it was only a reman it fits into my character for RP reasons but the romulan doff looked better

Obviously with the Double XP Event starting they are not, nor should they extend the CXP Event. Other suggestions have been to mail the Doff, make it available in Dilitium Store for free, etc. I think the simplest thing to do, given that it is a MISSION to award the Doff, is to get Rojal in place and re-enable that Mission again. Pick it up at Centurion Velaar or just complete it if you already have the Mission in your log. Add the Mission back in and the fix for Rojal during one Thursday Maintenance and remove the Mission from Velaar and remove the NPC Rojal during the next Maintenance Thursday. No additional down time.

Thats funny xD. I dont think the devs put "love" in what they do. Not precisely. If they did, we would not be able to see so many bugs on everything they make. I dont think they even like what they doing. They just do what the bosses tell em to do. Meaning, cryptic bosses. But even then, i cant imagine how bad skillez the devs must be to launch everything with so many bugs all the time. I dont think they even know that things must be tested before launched. At this point, i think everybody assumed that everything will be bugged with no hopes to fix. Thats the way cryptic is making people to think. And maybe that is the whole purpose of all their crappy work. lol, so people will not be worry anymore about having a crappy game filled with fails, and they will enjoy the game even more , meaning more profit for cryptic.. .. so, this is probably the weird thinking of cryptic.

Devs, we really need a fix to remove leftover particle fragments in our inventory after the event. Since you guys changed them to not expire after 2 hours like the old event, there is no way to get rid of them now as it only shows Info or Cancel when right clicking them.
