#4 STOP MAKING US GRIND OURSELVES ASSLEEP:mad::(
I must confess I find the new look most confusing I still haven't found where you go to transfer characters to tribble.
I have also noticed on the my account page it has my date of joining at 04/10/2012 that is correct but it says I have total playing time of 2 days 12 hrs 59 mins
since I have hardly missed a day since joining and play conservatively on average 4 hrs a day I would say that is a tad short, I would put my total play time closer to 108 days give or take a little.
I find this most odd.
and where has the peanut labs earn zen link gone, I have watched loads of adverts on there and earned a considerable amount of zen in the prossess, I would hate to see this perk lost.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
Yeah they are hence the redirect before you can do anything....but I suspect thats not what you meant....anyway...
No one is being forced to use the new website, let me put this in bold/caps.
NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO BE HERE.
If you don't like the new website/forums, don't use them. PW is not forcing you to go to these sites, YOU as a sentient being continue to visit them. So if you dislike them so **** much, stop visiting the sites. Use your sentience!!!
Bloody hell you people are the biggest bunch of whining crybabies I have ever seen.
FACT: this is the new website. It's not going to change. Demanding it be changed back is pointless. Grow up and get used it. Arc will soon be mandatory. It's coming. They aren't going to change their minds because the same 25 people who complain about every single change are still, y'know, complaining.
Grow the hell up and start acting like adults. If you have CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, then by all means express it. But the constant neverending crying and moaning has got to stop. It's old and tired. And it serves absolutely no useful purpose because (heartbreaker) IT'S ALL BEING IGNORED.
If people will stop spending on STO, PWE will shut it down. Hardly a solution.
If people suddenly stopped spending, then CBS would likely pull the Licence from PWE before they shut down STO. Because it would show that the community is rebelling against PWE. So then they would likely put STO up for auction and give another Internet company a chance to continue the title.
Or CBS would shut down STO and open up the opportunity for another Internet Company to make a new STO.
Lol again, only a minority of people post the rest are playing and spending money. A blanket redirect was done to get everyone over to the new site. they are probably doing individual redirects now for the pages as it would have been sloppy to do each individual one first and have someone go to one page and get redirected to the new but if they go to another page it doesn't redirect them.
And crying to CBS is not going to do anything as they only have control and say over the game itself, no control over the website.
Hi-ho! Just me, signing in again because of how well that "stay logged in" button works. Bang-up job PWE's web folks are obviously doing...on what, I don't know but I'm sure they're doing a bang-up job of something unrelated to making that button do what it says it does. Ciao!
Yup. Every time they change websites we lose useful functionality.
When it changed from startrekonline.com to sto.perfectworld.com we lost:
*Out of game mail access
*Out of game character bios (although the Gateway has re-added this, they said they'll probably kill off the Gateway because they don't know how to monetize it)
*Out of game captain's logs
*Out of game C-Store access
*Probably some other stuff I can't even remember (and the Wayback Machine is down right now so I can't check)
If people will stop spending on STO, PWE will shut it down. Hardly a solution.
Actually it's a pretty ingenious solution since like i said grabs PWE by the brass and forces them in to a position to either listen and give in to community wide demands or risk having the Star Trek license revoked and take a chance that the next company chomping at the bit to take the reigns will be better then PWE. Either way as a community we win.
When the old STO website got the relocate popup, the only button it gives you does not take you to the new STO page, it takes you to PWE's default page with all of their games, what that says to me as a dedicated STO player is: "We are PWE and we are so sadly desperate for you to try our other games that we will shove them in your face at every opportunity".
Face fact's PWE you have absolutely no variety, you have what seems like only 3 titles that are not variations on an Elf and Ogre dungeon crawler or some rehash of an Asian 3 kingdoms historical fantasy, you're doing a hard sell to an audience that for the most part isn't interested and in most cases do not even have a cultural reference from which to begin to have an interest.
I don't respond well to pushy door to door salesmen who put their foot in the door when I'm not interested, I don't expect a better outcome here when similar tactics are employed.
If and when the Arc interface becomes mandatory and make make no mistake about it folks, all of this, the give aways, the website changes, all of that is just a precursor to it's inevitable inclusion. When that time comes, on my computer, Arc will be the mutant child walled in under the stairs, fed bread crumbs when necessary, but nothing more and I have just the tools I need for my system to keep it in it's place.
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.

You don't get it, do you?
No, it's not going to work. If Star Trek Online suffers that badly, CBS will take it and they won't give it back. They won't see it as "Oh, PWE is doing a horrible job with it, let's give it to someone else who will do better with it", they'll see it as "Oh, the game isn't profitable anymore. That's the end of the venture."
You're playing with fire for trying the "talking with your wallet by never touching it again" and if you try it like that over a WEB SITE, then you're out of your mind.
I dabbled a bit with a 1 column and 2 column layout building on the stuff from my first post a few pages ago. (Once again, only thing photoshopped is the search bar and server status; everything else is real-time CSS.)
There's a bit of a negative space issue when doing it this way but with some image rescaling and using larger snippets from the full articles (at Cryptic's discretion) they could solve that fairly easily. Personally I think anything other than 1 column for news is a bit strange (works for image galleries, not so much for chronological news) but I'll probably keep using 4 columns myself due to the negative space issue.
If we re-route a synchronized tachyon burst, through the phaser capacitors, into the main deflector array, we should be able to restart the warpcore, in a similar way to rebooting an ARC.
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
So I'm trying to find info about the Hirogen lock box, and more specifically the duty officers that have become available as a result of it.
Every time I seem to be on the right track, the webpage redirects me back to the main Arc page. I have like 8 tabs of the main arc page open right now because of all of the redirects back to it.
The short answer is, you don't. All of the links in the old news that got copied over to the Arc site are automatically broken because they don't have a dynamic redirect system set up to redirect to the proper new pages.

Ok, thanks for that, but that link only had 1 sentence about the new Duty Officers: "Each Hirogen Duty Officer possesses the Resolve Trait, as well as coming with all new Active Roster Abilities to enhance your ships performance"
I'm looking for a list of the active abilities for them, like they used to release with all of the other new duty officers when they would release them.
but then I got redirected back to the main Arc page again.
Maybe someone could just post the new duty officer abilities and what type of duty officer each one is, because my efforts seem quite futile at this point.
Where's the Patch Notes page?
Why is the Product Page an exact clone of a Steam store game info page?
What is with everyone and using tiles?
Why is Impressive Third-Party IP Title "Star Trek" being buried under lots of WE ARE PERFECT WORLD THIS IS AN ARCGAMES WEBSITE ALSO BUY OUR OTHER STUFF?
Food for thought.
I am NikkoJT, Foundry author and terrible player. Follow me!
There used to be a picture here, but they changed signatures and I can't be bothered to replace it.

So how are we able to access our accounts now that the site had moved? I mean, I can't get to my account that was on the old STO site that has my redeem codes. How do I get those linked over. I need my Lifetime, Collectors and Romulous codes.

So on top of the STO forums looking shinier and yet still being cobbled together by what I could only imagine is a fourth-rate HTML coder from Sri Lanka getting paid $.30 an hour to glue the forums together considering just how little functionality I've had since the move from Cryptic's forums to PWE's forums...
... now I can't even look back at dev blogs and other information without getting an automatic redirect and hoping I can read the information fast enough within the 10 second window before getting booted to the main arcgames page.
I mean I understand PWE has to pander to the lowest common denominator who is about as intelligent and informed as the Flat Earth Society, but I really have to draw the line at PWE forcibly trying to make me dumb and uninformed by blocking my access to past dev blogs where information is written.
I take pride in being extremely well-informed, but if you actively take an anti-information stance for the sake of shilling your pet project, then you've pushed me from "mildly annoyed" to "severely annoyed".
And no, I'm not going to switch to Chrome or some other browser just to visit this one website. If other HTML coders can make their websites function cleanly and effectively on various browsers, there's absolutely no reason PWE can't either. If anyone on your team has to use the advice, "Try using it in Opera/Chrome/Firefox/IE and then see what happens.", then you've already proven your incompetence at being able to create a functional website.
I've taken HTML lessons before, and you've effectively made the website version of the Excelsior. Over-complicated plumbing that makes it easier to back-up. I want the No-Frills Constitution, not your over-designed piece of garbage.
PWE/Arc/Cryptic... you are straight up pissing me off right now.
I feel like the guy in the Twilight Zone episode who has an entire library to himself, and Arcgames just grabbed my glasses and crushed them. And I hope these scathing remarks hurt your feelings, because nothing hurts mine more than being unable to read what is/was plainly available to me previously.
I have a different question: Where *IS* this new site? When I go to sto.perfectworld.com, it looks the same as it always did. Has this change been retracted already?

You probably have javascripts disabled in your browser, as it uses those to run the redirect, I'm looking at the source for the page atm and can see the redirect code, might save myself a copy and remove the redirect code, just for personal use.:D

That will come after the loss of the launcher. Remember ARC is still in Beta testing so not all functionality is currently there.

I can get to this page:
http://community.arcgames.com/en/news/star-trek-online/detail/3031183-hirogen-lock-box-available
Then I click on this link to take me to the dev blog to get more info about the lock box:
http://sto.perfectworld.com/news/?p=1085941
But then it force-redirects me back to the main Arc page and I can't read anything about the lock box.
Working as intended?

Just try to find out something about the Foundry.
Information is old school. After all, it's an mmo. Part of the fun is learning it through tribal knowledge.
The link you're trying to follow SHOULD redirect to this: http://community.arcgames.com/en/news/star-trek-online/detail/3031043-season-8-dev-blog-_43
