Had a bad Khitomer last night. The ships were all Z-Store, so it should have gone a lot better than it did. We pop the Cube and people split up to start work. Some kind of Warbird, Ar'kif I think, goes to the middle. When the first Probes start from the gate, he began release clouds of plasma mines. Not a bad idea if you mine the lane the Probes use. Or even get them close enough to the lane so they activate. But not a good idea if you don't understand how to use a bomber correctly. He was releasing mines all over the place and none of them escaped their own timer. None of them accomplished anything either. Oner of the things about minefields is they are useless without some sort of covering fire. The Probe Parade continued majestically with the two of us on the left shooting them in between dancing with the Cube and the Gate. The Warbird would close to finish off the leakers but mostly to click on Need.
On the other side, the other two players just had some plain old bad luck. They were doing okay until one of the Cubes got a Crit and popped the healthy one. The other player was already in a bad way so he died about three seconds later. Of course, one of the Probes from there managed to escape and we lost the Optional. The Warbird pilot proudly displayed his astute tactical sense and level of maturity by dropping an F bomb in the chat window. In caps, of course. So we all understand how intensely he feels about it. Someone else promptly bugs out because unless the Optional is achieved all is for naught. The Warbird pilot begins complaining about this as well.
At this point, I'd had enough. I seriously thought about bugging out as well. But there were three other players (someone joined us late) who deserved better than they'd gotten so far from that Warbird pilot. So I stayed. An hour later, Donatra died. I placed the Warbird pilot on ignore and turned off my 'puter for the rest of the night. No enjoyment for me whenever something like this happens and it's better to go do something else.
A six year old boy and his starship. Living the dream.
I don't know if want to consider this good or bad. Recently did Star Base Defense and lost. The Orion's got a foothold on the base and got nothing for the work.
So, I jump in and there or two Lieutenant Commander players. One is in a Connie Variant and the other in a Saber Escort. I'm in a Fleet Excelsior and the other two our in a Obelisk Carrier and Prometheus class Escort.
So, it start's out first run and we get through. It was a blast as an Engineer. Running tank on the first wave. DPS build's take the fun out of the early missions because before I can extend a shield or draw fire it's over. It wasn't that way this time. However, apparently because this was work the Prometheus Tactical Captain leaves.
Now it's just a Fleet Excelsior, Obelisk Carrier, Connie, and a Saber. We made it through the next waves in brutal fashion. It was work and allot of fun. Hell, at some point we all blew up. I blew up once and got close more than a few times. I've never blown up since I got an Excelsior and their was a few times six or seven ships lashed me down to single digit's in hull points as I tried to keep fire on me. We make it to the final wave and it all ends. They gain a foothold and it all fails.
Now, I should be mad about this. It was a brutal fight but I have to admit I loved every minute of it. Two Tier 5 ships and Two Tier 1's facing down waves of ships without a single OP ship in sight. Yeah, we all made mistakes and it could have been done better in the end. However, every minute of it was a challenge and it was great. I don't know if I count as good or bad but it was fun despite the failure. It also made me love my Fleet Excelsior even more than I already did.
Ridiculous...I just wanted to play some Khitomer Vortex Elite. I entered an instance with a failed optional. 8 probes already through the gate, and as soon as I noticed that, another 2 went through then MISSION FAILURE. Now I am hit with 1 hour mission cooldown.
Played infected elite earlier it went well apart from some muppet attempting to bully another player because the other player DARED to select need for the drops. The muppet didn't notice that everyone else was selecting need as he was too busy bullying the one player.
It's been a while since I had a failed PUG.... Did Vortex.... yadda yadda.... no one else tried to kill probes. Oh and communications? non-existent. Not even when I tried to mention it.
But on the upside I got to find out what happens if you get ejected by the timer while dumping warp plasma on Probes! Your ship actually continues to trail warp plasma as it goes to warp! Wheee!!! totally not worth the 20 minutes of frustration as I tried to do probe duty solo in a PUG where no one else even paid attention to the probes at all.
Enh... I stayed and kept killing probes just because I felt like killing probes. I never gotten ejected form a map while dumping warp plasma before. it was kinda cool.
Rage quit a Khitomer Vortex awhile back. Popped the Tac Cube, then everyone scattered and started shooting ALL of the Transfomers. No one but me was focusing on the Probes. Next thing I knew, we got three cubes floating over us.
I turned around, hit the Evasive Maneuvers after the first probe slipped inside as I was too busy trying to deal with ALL OF THAT and took a Leaver.
Two nights ago I was level 44 on my new dedicated pvp healer (using the obelisk til i can get a recluse)
I decide i might as well get a few omega marks before i hit VA, so i queue up for a KASN
Now as you know I parse everything I do, and if you didnt know that you know it now.
Fully specced healer, no damage output whatsoever besides my Advanced Swarmers. I elect for left probe duty, since its really all I could handle. Now im doing okay, except no one at all is covered right.
As slow as the Obelisk is, especially with no RCS or fleet neuts or anything special on it, I simply could not cover both sides. yeah, Rylana failed it, i guess.
Well we actually end up failing x10. When I checked the parse I actually had the HIGHEST DPS at a little over 2100.
... For a moment I felt ... weird. I dunno, but then I just went into full on rage mode. I logged out of the game, right in the middle of the instance map and got onto my DPS channel Scimitar.
I proceeded to queue up for ISN, KASN, and CSN in order, and blasted through them doing more than 3 times the total damage output of the entire rest of the team each time (on the order of 22k dps vs their 1.5-3k each)
I then logged out and didnt play for the rest of the night.

Healer into pve....madness, sums up pugging with proper engs since the STF revamp, back then healers were ok for the space section, you didn't beat speed records, but could help out newbs, and generally make the whole mission more comfortable for the dps guys. On ground you were a real asset again....
....then came gozer

At least they can use the fact it was a normal as an excuse.
You know that sinking feeling when you warp into a esTF instance and relies you are in a tos Connie? Well that happened when I warped into azure last night. I went oh $&@%!!! And did my best to not blow up (only happened once!!!) and ninja some ships (when you get close enough to detractor but not get shot at) and got 3-5 ships by myself or nearly by myself. And then at the end, the &$@hole in the scimitar that was there says "Welcome for the points kimio and I can't name the other guy" and then, keeping my anger under control, because we got 30 marks of out choice plus the 5 fleet marks, said GG and warped out. Then the player continued too be a &$&hole and pming me saying that I was a loser and that my parents must hate me. I replied. Once. And I said "stop being such a a-hole (ignored)" and then I ignored him. I felt very justified. Wanted to que with him again just to see him blow a cap. A-hole.
And last week there was a conduit elite I was in and the idiots went to the right. We blew the cube and then when we went after the transformer and gens. They flew off and I didn't notice till I looked around a minute later and wondered it they were all in Miranda's. no. They had flow to the other side and got pissed at me for being on the right. Need I say more? Oh, and there was another scimitar a hole. He was all sorts of pissed. Said that I was a noob and that I must have gotten va a minute ago etc etc, when I have done hundreds of these. Or it feels like it.
Just shows what kind of idiots play the game to play bully.
So 1 day ago or so I enter Infected: the conduit Elite. Me and other 4 went to the right after blasting the first cube and spheras. Then 1 guy tels me go to the left abnd start the generators. I go here he says ''you n00b TRIBBLE does too little DPS what set-up you got?''
I say ''x4 Polaron dual heavy cannons front and 4 polaron beam aft with 4 consoles. Then he says: that Breen ship from Q sucks no wonder you do soo little.
I tell him ''i got +28.1% tac consoles it is good enought''
He says ''you need 1 plasma torp 1 photon 1 disruptor 1 phase front and 3 turrets on back plus tractor beam launcher. I tell him it would reduce damage he started ranting he is 700 day veteran and i am a n00b nobody who knows **** about playing.
20 mins later he was ranting on and on and on. Right side failed optional. Who's fault was it? Mine. And I wasn't even here which I pointed out he tels me I should of been with team not going galavanting on my own. I tel him he sent me here. He caled me a lier.
I say ''scroll team chat'' he says ''i gonna scroll you in a moment...'' a moment pased and he was still ranting.
They came to the left to work here and he tells me ''go get spheras''
I said ''not going alone'' then he was silent then tac cube entered a little later landed on him and killed him.
He respawned and then he found new item.
He said ''i note that your name sudgest you are a p****.
''STO is a boy's game - grow a stick or leave''
Someone else said ''if you said that to me i would castrate yours'' and they just sat here not moving not shooting and ranting and exchanging words.
I say ''if you do that you gonna get AFK Penallty'' And followed his long list of who is veteran and who is a p**** n00b.
Me and 3 others destroyed gate and them 2 were ranting on.
The he started giving orders on how to do the tac cube
He was told to stick it. And he started calling that guy a TRIBBLE. Ipmed other 3 and say let's just get on with it ourselfs and ignore that idiot.
We killed cube and he kept ranting on. I stayed on map till counter reached zero. Exited
He pms me shouting ''YOU ****** PIECE OF **** MOTHER ***** SACK OF **** STOLE MY DROP YOU NONE PIECE OF...'' etc etc etc.
I say ''you are 700 day veteran don't you know the drop is for al to colect?''
He ''DON'T ***** TELL ME YOU ***** ***** SACK OF **** MOTHER SON OF....''
I said ''ok seems you don't know yet may be in 700 days more you wil notice''
After 5 mins he pms me saying ''I GOT AFK PENALTY BECAUSE OF Y **** TRIBBLE SACK ''etc etc etc
Then ''I will complain to your fleet you get booted you etc etc etc''
Honestly he is a 700 day veteran who tels me to build a rainbow ship?
Then he don't pick drop. And if he got AFK Penalty he should know here wasn't any drop for him any way.
After reading a few pages of this post I guess it is not much of a surprise. People like this can really put you off playing a game - any game - for a long time.

I so hope a dev reads this quote and my suggestion. Make anyone in a team event that swears like this targetable like the enemy. That way they can enjoy friendly fire for their lack of civility.

The idiocy continues, it's like some people were not brought up with manners, STFs are team based not hotshots running their mouths
"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."

I was fighting a borg tac cube (How most stories start. Stupid cheating Borg ), and I was just enjoying my Hirogen Apex Battlecruiser. I felt god-like. Everything was melting before my eyes, I was shrugging off fire from enemies left and right.
After blowing up the gate in "The Conduit Elite" que, we were ready to turn around and fight the cube--of course, I look at what was passing by the rear of my ship...
I figured the full shields, full hull, etc, would stop it--oh no, I was wrong. I was very wrong.
A Heavy Plasma Torpedo III, not even aimed directly at me, taps the nacelle of my ship, rips through my shield, and sent me packing for 80k + hull damage.
Needless to say, but "WTF-BOOM".
I could hear Q laughing his butt off from far away, just instant replaying this moment over and over.
That ruined an entire day of feeling invincible. Still, my funniest moment and my worst. Can't say I have any bad problems with other players and other situations because I've refused to acknowledge them to this date. :P
Had two that were more eyebrow-raising than worst.
The first was going into the Conduit Elite. I'd been challenging myself to use other machines other than my Chet Grell and my MVAE, so I took my Mirror Heavy and prepared myself. Now, the few times I went into, I did have my butt handed to me. This time, I could only watch in shock as the other players in there just utterly dominated the mission. I think it was over in less than six minutes! I barely had time to register hits!
The second was a Fleet Alert. Went up against the Tholians. Got down to the final wave and, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM - three of the five up and disappeared. There was only me in my Mirror Heavy and another in an Defiant. I knew that wasn't enough and I was ready to escape and warp out. However, I decided to click on the siege craft for the Tholians and saw that it was down to 20% Hull. I couldn't believe it - that Defiant was tearing up the Tholian siege craft! I decided there was just a bit of a fighting chance, turned around and went back in to fight.
Wow. I can assure you that this "person" wasn't a veteran. Probably just someone that bought the lifetime subscription and confused the 700 day skillpoint buff with the actual days he has been subscribed. But man, where do you find these people? I get lucky when people actually use the team chat.
I've just been temp banned from doing STFs for the next hour because I bailed out of an STF....
Now normally, this wouldn't bother me as, A I wouldn't bail out, and B I wouldn't abandon my team no matter how noobish they are.
However, when the rest of the team bails, leaving me on my own with absolutely no hope of finishing the STF alone, I have no other choice but to quit.....
Now, once is bad enough, but twice apparently gets me a temp ban! I'm sorry but that &%#$ing sux the big one. Why should I get penalised because of a group of people that didn't know wtf they were doing and decided to quit the mission leaving me on my own?
Surely it would be fair to not penalise the last person that has no other choice but to bail out?
This would have to be the worse experience I've had so far playing STO.
After avoiding PVE for a week or two I jumped into Crystaline Elite this eve. to my surprise, it was a quick game, I bashed away at the keyboard, Mr Crystal was blown to pieces and the rewards were plentiful!
....well, that last parts a lie. I buzzed about the map after the wonderful effort all round and couldn't find the loot critter at all.
I checked until I was booted from the map - only to learn that I got an AFK ban. Despite not going AFK.
Did a new batch of STF idiots graduate from fail college this weekend?
I have literally seen everything this weekend.
From rainbow builds to "let's ignore the probes" to "move to other side and begin blowing up while there are still tons of nanite probes in the vicinity" combined with the "ignore chat" and "i wish they ignored chat" hordes.
For the love of whatever deity you believe in please exclude STF's from the dilithium bonus event next time. All these ** <insert whatever strong language you feel is appropriate> swarm the STF's hoping for quick dilithium while lacking any sort of teamwork and messing up optionals for the rest of the team.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.
Maybe it is just me/us in this topic, but when i do a job i like to do a job well so i can feel proud of doing it well.
Doesn't matter if it is RL or an online game.

I have an interesting experience of KASE. It wasn't bad at all, actually. We got the optional, the team communicated very well, and overall it was fun. But weird. Weird enough for me to bother writing a captain's log entry for it, that's for sure... last captain's log I wrote before that we my getting a Chel Grett back in 2012...
Ok, so I queued for a KASE in my fed tac flying a Fleet Avenger. The PuG team were all tacs, 3 of them in cruisers, the 4th in a Chel Grett. I say hello to the team as usual, and teammate 1 says hello as well.
We kill the tac cube quite well, and then I call the left probe duty, as I always do. THEN things got interesting... teammate 1 asked me to sit in front of the time gate as a safety net as the dps ship. Strange, isn't it, considering that we were all tacs in cruisers (and a Chel Grett)? So anyways, I decided that sitting in front of a time gate would be a waste of energy and risking an afk penalty, and that just taking on the left probes and having the right ones get away would ruin the optional, so I call all probes. The team proceeds to kill the nanite generators and transformers.
Then as they have the left gate to near death, they decide to not kill it yet because spheres would spawn... while I suggest that the team kill it anyway as spheres would spawn either way, they go and kill the right gate, then go finish off the left gate.
We actually did manage to get the optional, though some of the probes did get a little too close to the time gate for my liking... I taught them what happens when they do that.
Then Donatra came, we killed her as a good team would, then grab our rewards, say thanks to the rest of the team, and leave.
Overall it was a good run (and a test to see if my Avenger could do both sets of probes), but strange.
Winning.
It's what I do. It's what I just did. It's what I'm about to do again. It's being undisputed emperor of an empire that cannot be disproved as the most powerful intergalactic empire in the entire universe; I always win, and everything I've won will definitely be won again... by me. It's my signature move, and thus, it's my signature. Problem, Sonic? Yeah, I mean you, Sonic, because you're being beat up, despite your being super. You can't even hit Shadow back, can you? Nope, he's too strong for you. Of course, I'm not Shadow, I'm the Super Emerald fueled fox that's pulling the strings; trust me, the fight would only be a few frames long if I were in it personally. Oh, and here's something for all you guys thinking you can win Last Post Wins 3.0; trust me, I'll be around a long while after the sun has already consumed the Earth while I sit out with the forum servers on Titan. Yes, I mean Titan... that comparatively little moon orbiting Saturn. It's a nice little place in a version of our solar system where the sun is a lot bigger. I mean, Mars will last longer than your precious Earth, but by then, it'll be one hot planet... and I figure Saturn's moon will be about the right temperate for a super-powered warlord. Oh, and trust me, I packed a lot of rings, and I mean a lot. Trillions, in fact, so I'll never run out of rings to power my super form. Besides, if I start to run out, I can just chaos control more rings into my reach. It's quite easy, really. You should try it. Granted, you'll never have the 7 Super Emeralds that I have in my possession, nor the Master Emerald that I've got hidden away somewhere... absorbed into my body thanks to Sonic logic, but whatever. I win. Again. I'm not kidding, either. Just check Last Post Wins, and if the last post isn't mine, it soon will be. Very, very soon. You can count on it. Seriously. By the way, if you're wondering, there's a really great Super Tails sprite sheet out there... somewhere... by some guy named shadow_91. These sprites are really great. Like, really good. Quality. Just like what I like to see in a sprite sheet. Also, credit to Joe T.E., his Sonic Battle style Super Sonic sprites have a great palette for a Super Sonic being beat up by Super Shadow, who's palette is from a Super Shadow sheet of unknown origin, but it turns out they were "borrowed" from a better sheet made by a certain Domenico. Oh, and the gif is actually a custom made super version of a similar gif, of which there are only 3 or 4 copies to be found by Google, and even then, evidently of an unknown source. Yep, it's one of those things. Stuff people have made, spread around, only for it to vanish and you to be the only person who still has a copy, not even knowing where it came from... like, literally at all. Oh, and anyone notice that Shadow's little chaos snap blast thingies are red and blue now? Yeah, I changed it. Problem, fans of purple? Yeah, I know you got a problem with that one, but you can just deal with it. After all, according to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly... alright, alright, I'll spare you the entire Bee Movie script, just Google it if you want. By the way, ever wonder how your characters would've ended up if they evolved in another universe? Yeah, that. Think about it. Ok, so you probably didn't bother reading up to here, but whatever, here's a surprise for you guys over at ESD (RP) who were crazy enough to read this: Emperor Nat of the mcfreakin' Terran Empire is gonna be right all along! The universe is gonna go BOOM! *Thumbs up to the insanity*
Oh, now don't tell me you want in on all this! Well, ok. Look this that Egg Pawn hanging outside your window, pointing his laser rifle at you, waiting for my next order. He's doing his part. He helps conquer the weak-minded. He roboticizes the weak-bodied. Heck, he even helps keep the useless people from causing any trouble, but you know what? Join. Find the closest Nataran Empire roboticization center near you and join the ranks, before the ranks find you. Oh, I know, you figure it must be so satisfying to know I basically rule the world now, and you know what? It is, but do you want to know the true definition of satisfaction? Well, let me tell you a little story. One day, you see a brand new event. They're giving out boxes that give old event stuff. Your dilithium is plentiful. You buy a whole lot of Phoenix packs on your main, and open them all. You get one epic token. Then, you decide, that since you have all the Breen ships and don't give a damn about the others, you exchange it for an ultra rare, and grab yourself a Jem'Hadar Attack Ship and for the hell of it, a Voth Bulwark. You open both, leaving the Bulwark in your vast masses of starships as you jump into the bugship and deck it out, deck by deck, into the most awesome Jem'Hadar ship you can. You fly it. You enjoy it. Eventually, you get bored and leave, leaving the old Bulwark never flown... until later. Your main is long complete. Your new alt main, based off some character you pulled out of nothing just to explain away some starship being in service without the command of your dear admiral, is also complete. Mostly. Their reps and doffs are hard at work, getting you stuff. You realize the potential, and head back for your dear admiral, pull the most Voth themed build you can out of thin air, and suit up in your giant ship in the shape of you know what. You head out... and cause all sorts of havoc. Enemies scream out your name as their very life is drained away by your swarms of Aceton Assimilators. They complain to the devs of your OPness when you revive yourself from death every time you die. Do you show any form of mercy? No. After all, this isn't the United Federation of Planets, this is mother frakkin' Starfleet, where you explore strange new worlds and kick butt never kicked before. Oh, and you realize that I just wrote another speech rivaling your own signature. Cool. Oh, wait, that's just the original draft, it is part of my signature now. Oh, and yes, I am aware that I have become a Canadian Regent; one day, sooner than you'd expect, we'll suddenly decide to take over the world and declare an "alliance", and I shall become it's Regent. You know, like the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance in the mirror universe of our beloved Star Trek. Oh, who'll we be taking over with? I dunno, maybe [REDACTED], or maybe aliens from outer space. Guess you'll have to wait and find out, won't we? Until then, don't ask too many questions, or else my Breen allies on Titania might pick up on your -- [REDACTED BY BREEN CONFEDERACY FOR REASONS] Also, psst... keep an eye out for flying Tribbles! Also walls. Big, great walls, separating entire continents apart. Walls patrolled by Tribbles. Flying Tribbles. Flying Nukara Tribbles. Don't worry, it's not like they were on Venus with a herd of Tholians or anything, they just like the extreme heat and brutal weather like acid rain and hurricane force winds as the norm. Oh, and definitely keep your eye out on any two-tailed foxes, because if they ain't glowing, they're definitely an imposter. Possibly an Undine, we caught one of those once in my place once. Oh, and if you find a two-tailed fox that doesn't like the cold... most certainly ask him to say sorry. If he refuses, DESTROY HIM WITH A DOOMSDAY MACHINE, BECAUSE THERE'S NOTHING ELSE THAT WOULD BE ENOUGH AGAINST SUCH AN OVERPOWERED IMPOSTER!
tr;dr, I am winning last post wins 3.0. Thank you for your time.
We do IGE sometimes and sometimes we have to pick one random guy. In most cases it is that random guy who runs over the trigger lines and kills the optional.
Real bad thing with this is: no matter if you ask him whether he knows this STF or dont ask him - the result is the same.
The last guy we had in IGE was so keen on running ahead that we stopped picking him up after dying. He dropped from the STF just in front of the boss room...
I may have to stop playing ISE. Just had another instance with two Scimitars, that lasted somewhere around three - four minutes. Everything died so fast that it was over before it started. Absolutely pointless.
I'm not sure if the Scimitars with BFAW are working as intended or that there is some flaw in the mechanics, but i fear that while this lasts new people don't get a chance to learn the ropes in STFE.

What the f****!
My character Tsin'xing
I turned around, hit the Evasive Maneuvers after the first probe slipped inside as I was too busy trying to deal with ALL OF THAT and took a Leaver.
Seriously, guys, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!

How some people literally contribute less than a single hanger bay I don't know.
Support the Typhoon and Jupiter class starships!
People like this can really put you off playing a game - any game - for a long time.
just my 2 cents
Id love for that guy to meet ANY of my chars. The setup he described is absolutely horrid.

I so hope a dev reads this quote and my suggestion. Make anyone in a team event that swears like this targetable like the enemy. That way they can enjoy friendly fire for their lack of civility.

This would have to be the worse experience I've had so far playing STO.
....well, that last parts a lie. I buzzed about the map after the wonderful effort all round and couldn't find the loot critter at all.
I checked until I was booted from the map - only to learn that I got an AFK ban. Despite not going AFK.
There's my quick hour of PVE gone...

I think "dombo's" is the appropriate word .
I call it, the Stoutes paradox.
Doesn't matter if it is RL or an online game.
