My question is as it says, How do I close/ Delete my F2P sto account?
I know you can do this if you have a sub, but I
am F2P.
I want to close it cause, I've paid real money for zen before and since I won't be playing the game anymore since I can't log in since season 8, I have decided to close and delete my sto account.
As sad as that is to do. I have no choice. And now my decision is made.
So anyone know how to do this?
I know there's an option to end a sub but I'm f2p and trying to figure out how to close my f2p account with sto.
But the game is F2P so why would you close your account?? You not being able to play might be solved shortly, so I would just keep the account and keep watching the forums for any news.
Have you gone over to tech part of the support forums and posted there? It might help to diagnose your problem, just in case it is on your side the problem is. There are many players who are good a tech stuff, and might just help you get going again...
Also, "I quit" posts are not allowed, and this is such a post.

really? not allowed?
wow , sounds a bit dictatorship to me. guess it's time to tell the teacher eh -kidding. LOL
If a gold player ends their sub, the account just turns silver, it doesn't delete the account. Even back when the game wasn't f2p, those characters would stay there inaccessible. You can delete the characters, but the account would still be there if you log in again later.
What's the point of closing a FREE account ? Uninstal the game, never play it anymore. Is that really difficult ? Or are you just trying to make another DOOM trolling thread ?
There is nothing to gain or lose from letting your account idle. It will not take money from you. Your character will not lose items, or currency. Your characters will not decay. If you do not log in, nothing will happen to your character besides it will not progress.
If you do not wish to play anymore, feel free to uninstall the game and no longer log in. If you wish to return, simple redownload the game, log on, and continue from where you left off. No need to delete anything besides your local client.
However, I do suggest you give the devs a detailed account of what is going on. Try to problem solve this. It maybe a simple thing on your end to fix. Otherwise, the game is patching at least once a week, so your bug might be fixed soon.
As for the why you can't have "I quit" threads is because they are generally pointless, offer no feedback, and are generally fertile ground for nerd rage.
Live on Earth. Work in Space. Play with Dragons. Join the best add on to STO, the Neverwinter holodeck program! Only 14 GPL a month.
I also dont get why people want to close their accounts. there may come a time when you fancy playing again, or tech issues are resolved. closing it seems a bit hasty. no harm in leaving it open.
You can do what I did and go play EVE Online for awhile. After you get ganked in hi-sec and lose enough ships you'll decide STO wasn't so bad after all.
(Don't misunderstand, I'm still opposed to ARC. grrr...)
my question is this. On an account PWE doesn't give two fraks about anyways, just uninstall and move along. They don't care if an account isn't used for ages. Hell I didn't play for almost a year and not a frak was given.

I could see there being value in closing the account to make sure that your personal details (and if it's just the email address) are no longer stored on their servers, and you don't get any further mail from them.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
I could see there being value in closing the account to make sure that your personal details (and if it's just the email address) are no longer stored on their servers, and you don't get any further mail from them.
You can already do that. You can ask to never receive any news from them.
As for personal details, you can also change them.
For some f2p, I never gave the real personal details. Even for the mail, you can always open a free mail on hotmail, and use it just to create an account.
I could see there being value in closing the account to make sure that your personal details (and if it's just the email address) are no longer stored on their servers, and you don't get any further mail from them.
On the other hand, you can stop the emails, by removing the check in the "allow us to spam you" option on the "My Account" page.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Unsubscribe from emails, change your email address to something invalid (or if you have a junk address like me change it to that) delete your payment options and forget about it. Also, to those stating that I quit threads are against tos, 1) he's leaving anyways so why would he care and 2) this doesn't look like an I quit thread to me, looks like he's trying to do something for whatever reason (delete account) could be to make a fresh account for all I know and is stuck on the how to part.

Except that would never work, since they'd just tell you that they did, and spam you anyway.

Amahood, take your time and don't get yourself worked up. It's not good for your heart.
Just let STO take a rest and look for a new game. They are still working on the problem, but it just takes quite the time... I don't want to see you go.
That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.
I can see why you may wish to have your account deleted from their servers if you are not playing anymore. I wouldn't want my credit card info or personal info sitting there in case there account servers were ever TRIBBLE if I weren't playing anymore. Trivial for some but not for everyone.
As Branflakes says... the game is F2P so come back anytime :-)

He did say that he will be leaving the Starship STO, so yes it is considered an "I quit" thread.

Have you tried borrowing a different computer and attempting to login from there? I don't really know what is causing your issue, but it might help.

thank you forum police, the forums are safe once again thanks to your heroic... errrr. get a life, there are moderators, and devs, it is their job to "police" the forums, not yours.. if I remember correctly, they have asked several times in the past for forum goers to not intervene, and not do exactly what you did.. and with that, its technically not an I quit thread. he might have put why he isn't happy, but he is asking a question..
that being said, asking how to delete your acct. is a valid question.. and why would someone do it? well that is simple, this game has metrics, those metrics show if it is doing good or not. so why support something that you don't believe in.. when they lose accts, it resonates and makes the powers to be think about why... while I am not at that point with the game yet, I do wish more people who are "done" with this game would do it.. it is the only way to motivate cryptic..

Do not ask me why, I'm just telling you what the policy is for "I quit" posts.
And it's far from dictatorship, just FYI...
There's no user-end option to delete an account.

You are on a private server, with private owners, offering you a free service, and you think it's dictatorship?
Someone help this dude to erase his account and ban his IP.
