Sound is terrible, Any Fleet Defense or STF it cuts in and out, most of the time all you hear is the initial weapon fire then it's completely silent, it's actually giving me and my guild a headache.....This problem has been around for awhile.....Did the developer in charge of the sound walk away or what, this is terrible
My sound issue is simple: I can't hear my weapons fire on 1 particular ship, the Peghqu' Heavy destroyer. This has been ongoing for several weeks and is a significant issue, given that the narrow firing arc of DHC's requires both visual and auditory feedback when aiming your weapons. It doesn't seem to matter what weapons I equip, either regular disruptor, Borg variant, or Polarized disruptor. My PC has been rock solid to date with no other issues: WinXP Pro, up to date sound and video drivers, simple USB Logitech behind the ear stereo headset. Out of 6 toons (3 Fed, 3 KDF) using a variety of weaponry, this is the only one affected. I won't be playing this ship until the issue is resolved which is a shame as it's one of my more powerful and popular toons. Intend to submit a ticket on the issue asap. A quick poll of others via Zone Chat indicated I'm not alone in a sound issue such as this.
When i be scan all particle and spend 60 . i be got nothing on my inventory and be still same number of lithium . or when i kill enemies i grab stuff i got nothing again. what i can do
After gaining an accolade planetside, the sound blip doesn't play until I beam to ship and are in sector space. This is how it's been since I started to play STO, almost forgot to report it.
Nice to see in the todays patch that you solved some sound issues - but there?s still one in the Tau-Dewa-Sector. During the patrol the voice of the Enterprise is coming up reapeatedly.
I recently get 2 overlapping musics on Defera when doing a hard run and then returning to camp. The battle music keeps playing, while the normal Defera music kicks in at the camp. Leaving the camp doesn't help, I have to leave Defera in order to fix that one.

Starbase Fleet Defense. I won't get into the whole "audio breaking because too much is happening at once" thing because that's kind of expected. But the broken voice announcements and "ghost looping" are incredibly annoying.
It's fixed by turning voice off in the volume options of course, but still.

This is actually a more serious bug than just an annoyance. It causes a critical fault that leads to massive lag and eventual crashing for some people. My fleet mates and I ran a few back to back fleet events and it seems to me that if you do not logout between runs you will get bad buffer issues. My entire group dropped to 5 or less frames per second and all complained about this same bug happening the entire time. Every time this bug occurs I have to log out after the mission to fix it if I don't crash when trying to leave.
I have no sound since this new Legacy patch has started. In addition, I am experiencing all the problems listed above....but the major problem for me is no sound...HELP!!!!
I just started this game today and I noticed that my character doenst have a voince?
All ohter npc's etc I hear.
Is this a bug or is this the way its programmed?
If you mean in missions, that's how it is. The characters simply aren't voiced...
I have a ticking or crackling sound as well every now and then. Turning of the sound didn't help... It's been present since LoR on tribble and the live release...
"Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood."
I'm having the Random Rommie Snapping too. Happens ingame, happens when alt+tabbed out of the game, happens when I have the ingame master volume and every other volume slider set to 0, happens when I have the digital processing turned off, happens when I have voice chat turned off. Every single audio option can be turned right off and the snapping won't stop. It's driving me crazy.
I have determined that it is a game bug, because when I alt+tab out and go to my windows volume control (speaker icon in the bottom right corner) and hit mixer it actually shows Star Trek Online and every time the pop happens it flashes on the STO volume meter.
Edit: I just reloaded the game and the snapping stopped until I ran a ground mission. Something in combat (I think it was one of my BO skills) triggered the snapping, but as soon as combat ended one of my BOs pulled out a tribble and the snapping stopped. Can anyone else test this?
Hi, I have crackling noise in every part of the game, seems to come from the rear speakers, maybe the right, but it is so annoying the sound in 5.1, finish put the game in stereo and the crackling is more low but persistent.
Hearingthe "POPS" more. They have been there since release but it snow more noticable.
Sound drops out constantly. Some ambiant sound becomes very loud and the only thing you can hear. Like you wont hear weapons fire but will hear the "wind" noise. Or on new romulas all you can hear are birds chirping. From the way its coming out of the speakers it could be a 5.1 issue as well.
Whether its caused by the lag or causing the lag, it seems to be connected. The laggier the map is the worse the sound becomes.
Only area that I have not had some sort of sound issue is in sector space.
The POPS like I said have ALWAYS been in game. You used to only hear them at ESD relaibly. Ive been posting about that since 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!
And as others have said, if you alt tab now even though you cant hear anything else you will hear the POPS. To me it sounds like a hardware related sound. If I didnt know it was in the game I would think there was a crossed wired or something plugged into the wrong connection on my system. But since I only hear the pops in STO and have for years I know things are fine on my end
sound was perfect last night today it is very intermintet. sometimes you can hear weapons fire sometimes you can't anyone else having this issue i know it's not my computer as a few people in my fleet have had the same issue
There has been an intense garbled sound in the game since around a week ago. It is not constant, but when it starts it will continue. I just left the game for two hours and came back, it is still running. Turning off the sound doesn't help. Only leaving the game. Sometimes it stops and voices come on. Once it was talking about buying a Dell computer.
If its working in the players favour - "This isn't working as intended. We're going to remove this from the game. You're not playing as we intended." If its working in the games favour - "We have too much on our plate to fix this/Working as intended."

that is a random audio ad caused by a root kit which is probably Rootkit.Boot.Pihar.c.
i would suspect you would find svchost.exe is using a lot of ram. might i recommend kaspersky's tdsskiller to remove.
Random audio problem I can't figure out. Looked through all the settings, updated drivers and checked everything I could think of on my end. Just got a new pc, so my first thought was that is was on my end, but I've fiddled with everything I can think of, also it seems a bit too random. On ground and space maps, as well as in sector space, I can hear other people's sounds but not my own. Like one time I beamed out and I didn't hear my sound, but I heard the person next to me beam out. In STFs I can hear other people's weapons, and my pets weapons, but not mine. On ground I can hear ambient noise, other people's effects, but not my kit powers. In sector space I can't hear my own slipstream sound effect, but I can hear someone else's. Can hear other warping in and out, but not me. Can't think of anything in settings or on my end that could cause this problem but allow me to hear the other sounds.
My sound has completely stopped for the game. My sound works for all other games and such. STO has been re-installed and and fully patched too... not sure what do other then let you know here. Hope this gets cleared up soon.
My sound regularly has *clicks* and *pops*, atypically on STFs or any big battle, ground or space. It was much worse before I used the -ignorex64check startup command line. No other game I have does this, besides Neverwinter. Same exact thing on the same engine, obviously not my woe. I have no trouble playing BF3 @ ultra 1080. No clicks or pops..

I'm getting the worst sound bug of all. It all started during the recent CE event.
When fighting the CE alongside other players. There would suddenly be no sound at all and this affects my entire system. Restarting Windows Audio Service does not work and only a reboot will bring sound back. Other games do not exhibit this problem.
This bug occurs about once every 7-8 CE matches.

Cheers,
Same here, except that I haven't re-installed the game. It's fully patched, though, and STO is silent. This is not true of my other software - even CO has all the usual sounds; only my starship is that stealthy. (And I can't really picture an Obelisk Carrier as a "stealthy" vessel, so...)
Since the latest patch I have had sound issues that make me think the game cant keep up with the sounds generated from multiple sources. It is most noticable in Crystaline Entity fleet action, when other players cannons will fade in and out.
I cant find any settings that ley me set sound quality apart from choosing software or hardware rendering, most hames let you choose the amount of channels
Same as the last poster. Not hearing all the sounds from other ships. Not sure if it's just Crystaline Entity STF or other places as well. But that is the first one where it was blatantly obvious.

thanks in advance ^^
Getting the same bug here, would be nice to see it fixed, now that Fleetbase Defense is fun and rewarding with the bonus added.
