Just for no reason other than because:

    http://www.fs-rpg.com/FSwiki/Avenger_Class_Battle_Cruiser

From thwt , I personally get: bog standard cruiser with dual cannon capability and some consoles.

But I could (likely) be wrong.

What is everone's opinions on looks? Mine is *buy buy buy* so long as the stats arent too messed up.

By the way, anyone have any errant tweets, posts or other on the stats?
I'm pissed. The Avenger class is the Star Cruiser. The screenshot of the Battlecruiser looks like another poorly designed Sovereign knock-off. I want an improved and upgraded Star Cruiser, not another Sovereign.

So in other words... people are looking for Fleet Sovereign / Fleet Excelsior Copy3? BUT WITH CLOAKS! AND A HANGAR!

The improved and upgraded Star Cruiser is the Odyssey. Also the Fleet Support Cruiser, which is better than the Oddy in every way.

From this ship, I'd basically like to see a Starfleet Tor'kaht. 36k hull, 12 or so turn rate, Commander and Ensign Eng, Lieutenant Commander and Lieutenant Tac, Lieutenant Sci. +10 hull and shields for the fleet version.

The picture makes it look like a meaner version of the Regent, which is a good thing. I'd pay real money if it can actually use Assault Cruiser parts, too.

Branflakes said there's going to be a name change, to Sentinel. Since Avenger was taken.

Anyway, could someone do me a favor? I can't see any pictures posted on the STO website here outside of what's on the forums. Links to pictures on the side lead to Error 400.

Would someone be so kind as to grap the pic and upload it to something so I could see?

It will actually be able to equip the cloaking device
(sry if anyone posted that earlier, just didnt want to reaad through all pages :P)

To add some speculation (and wishes):
    44k Hull
    1.1 Shields
    4/4 (5/3?) Weapons
at least 3 Tactical console slots
    at least one LTC Tac
    Dual Cannons
    8 (or more) Turnrate

i hope it will be like this :)

Oh and by the way: there will be a Regular and a Fleet version... (specs above given for the fleet one of course)

Makes you wonder why they couldn't just name the new ship the Sentinel Class. Huh? :P

It's not a Star Cruiser when it looks like a bloated Sovereign with a gaping hole in the neck, although it is true that the bloated Sovereign made the Star Cruiser entirely irrelevant.

And you can't run BA:FAW 3 on an Ambassador.

Looks nice from what I can see of it though looks and cloak aside I'm wondering what they'll do to it to truly make it competitive with warbirds.

The stats will have to be real good for me to buy this and I say this as a cruiser fan.

For me it has to be pretty competitive with the scimitar dreadnought and the lockbox cruisers to warrant a buy.

For the Fleet Battlecruiser I'd like to see:-
4/4 weapons slots, pref 5/3 like the Scimitar
    DHC capable
1.15 or 1.2 shield mod (same as monbosh, 0.1 less than the galor)
Base turnrate of 9 (1 point less than the monbosh, 2 less than the Galor)
Same console setup as the fleet sovereign and excelsior
    39k hull (same as monbosh)

    Lt Cmdr Tac
    Cmdr Eng
    Lt Sci
    Lt Uni
    En Uni

(Scimitar has Lt Cmdr Uni and En Uni boff stations)

That class of ship is being renamed to Sentinel, this Battle Cruiser's going to be the Avenger-class.

    Thank you, Adamkafei!

Having seen it from the back, I can only speculate here. It's either similar to the Assault Cruiser in size, which just makes me wonder, why? We have the Regent, admittedly a bad-TRIBBLE looking ship that I'd like to have. If I'm thinking of the right armored looking Sovy.

Or, it's close in size to the Oddy. Once again, Why? Okay, we can make it cloak, and it can hold cannons. Do we really need another Galaxy Dreadnought, specifically one that doesn't look as good and doesn't even have the Lance?

It looks very similar already to my freebie Assault Cruiser I have set up anyway, with some pieces from the other classes.

Can't we just have the Typhoon and call it a day?

If it is yet another 3-pack ship, I very much doubt I will even convert Dilithium for it.

Based off the cloaking device console on tribble, there's a fleet variant, so most likely not.

It's the same thing over and over again, Star Trek Online is Tactical Escorts Online, plain and simple.

    that's not entirely accurate

its "He who deals most damage wins Online" :D

it we go by the cloak console description then its only going to be 1-T5 ship and 1-Fleet varient.

either way it will probably be added to my ship collection after Zen exchange calms down, I imagine price for Zen from dilith conversion is gonna jump 20-40 points in the next 2 weeks with everyone wanting to trade their dilith into Zen. :D

wonder if the winter event ship will be the Chel Gret or some new ship.

It's got better detail than a lot of the rushed Romulan ships but it still looks bad IMO.

I'm also going to add that I think calling it and the D'D a battle cruiser is a bad idea.

Am I the only one who utterly despises cryptics "25th century fed design bible"? Worse, this boat seems to take (IMO) the worst parts of aforementioned 'bible' and throws them together.

Even if the stats are absolutely ungodly powerful, I will certainly have to think long and hard about whether or not to buy it. For me, looks matter.

Remember, we first heard about this ship on Tribble by looking at the tooltip for the cloaking device console. Hence we can assume that it will indeed come with a cloak.

Sure, can't let the KDF have a leg up anywhere, now can we? /eyeroll

That's basically my reaction to this whole 'Avenger class cruiser' being a tactical-focused cruiser. Yet another thing being stolen from the KDF faction to appease greedy Federation players. Where are the science ships the KDF needs? Where are the additional escorts it needs? Where is the balance pass the KDF BoPs need in the face of the Romulans? Instead, they're just adding new toys to the Federation arsenal when the Federation already has a TON of toys to pick from. Meanwhile, the KDF might get a battlecruiser at some point, something we DON'T need.

    Hmph. Avenger-class cruiser. Ridiculous.

We're not "greedy." We've spent hundreds of dollars on STO over that last 3.5 year - we've put our money where out mouth is when we ask for something. That doesn't mean the KDF doesn't need some love but attacking the players' character when it's the company making the items is deciding what to produce seems very shortsighted and prejudicial to me. It's like blaming the dog for eating the dog food Purina makes.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Well I must admit I'm excited about a new Fed ship as I thought we were at the end of the line (and I'm also an avid KDF player so I appreciate the arguments above). Hopefully this will be the cruiser that finally prises me out of the Excelsior (...and a 25th century take on/skin for the Excelsior would be very welcome, though I know canon-wise Rick Sternbach envisaged the Sovereign to replace it).

I'm not crazy about the details on the secondary hull surface (I wasn't sold on them for the Regent either though - and call me old school but I'd prefer a shuttlebay at the stern too) but the black/white 2409 look otherwise looks good. I am very intrigued about what we may have here - I think the Fed Tor'Kaht theory may be spot on.

I want to be excited and all, I love my big space-whales, but so many little things in that shot are setting off warning bells for me. I'm sure the stats will rock, but on first impression, something doesn't feel right.

It is not going to be a 3 pack, because there will be a fleet version. Three pack ships are already on fleet level so there is no need to mention it again.

It looks like that this ship is a new Sovereign variant.

    nope.
not having a military force able to deal with hostiles is a guarentee of conflict.
the hubris of the federation for not having all their ships military first role x, y, z second would be half the reason they get attacked.

federation battle cruiser is just common sense for an organisation thats getting ripped a new hole every few years.

Agreed. One thing that I tire of is the perpetual attitude of, "well, now that THAT war is over, all wars for the Federation are gone for ALL OF ETERNITY, with no possibility of EVER having another war, since we have brought Civilization to those savage, savage Klingons, primative Cardassians and culturally xenophobic and occasionally genocidal Romulans, not to mention the omnicidal and vastly technologically superior Borg, let us NEVER AGAIN waste resources on being prepared for it!"

I hope that they just don't bypass the fed cruiser problem with a new cruiser that can use cannons and turns like a Vor'cha.

Yup, those barbaric savage Klingons that had interstellar travel in the 16-th century while Earth was in the Dark Ages.
Yup "Teh Awesomest Humans" brought civilization to those idiots the Romulans that left their homeworld looking for a new planet to settle in the time when Rome was a "thing" on Earth.

But what puzzles me most is why so many people lately seem to think that if a ship does not have "dread", "war", "doom" or "battle" in her name it's a weaksauce and completely incapable of throwing a punch or defending her teritories.
Is that some modern "thing" these days?

I guess the answers to that can be found somewhere in the 3,600 post Galaxy thread. :D
