Another Fed outfit. This Federation-Only giveaway event SURE IS FAIR for KDF-only players.

    Epic fail.

I created a thread yesterday predicting this exact same thing would happen. So far...100% of the free items have been Fed exclusive. KDF-only players are being screwed. I got heavily flamed for my assumption that this is a Fed-Only give away. Well, looks like I am right about this being a Fed-only event. This is very weak Cryptic...very, very weak.

Unless the KDF side gets free ships, then you guys will have totally blown it. You are alienating KDF-only players.

In case you didn't know it, there are a lot more Fed players; so to keep the money coming in Cryptic has focused more on Feds. It's unfortunate, but that's what it is.

And in case you are NOT READING THE THREADS, you will find that THERE WILL BE KDF STUFF.

There is what a whole whopping 2 choices for KDF outfits? The EV armor and the academy outfit.

Actually, the EV armor is not a possibility, because they've said everything they're giving away is an account-wide unlock. The EV armor is a single-use item that can't be re-claimed if you lose it. From the way they described things, if they'd done something KDF-specific today, the academy uniform is the only possible option, period.

I really was hoping for the (cross-faction) "formal wear" though. I'd be forced to create a Gorn, just to have a sleestak in a tuxedo.

(I'm betting tomorrow is to'duj & peregrine, then a pair of T2 ships, then a pair of T3 ships. I am hoping the fed ships are Stalker, Enterprise, and D'Kyr, but I won't hold my breath.)

If I were in charge, and I read this thread, I would take one thing away from KDF players every day for the rest of the week.

Cryptic's literally handing things out for free, and people still find a reason to complain.

I for one appreciate the gesture, and I can't wait to see what they have planned for the rest of the week.

Just to requote myself. people have turned this gesture into nothing more than a great big whinge fest. People are never satisfied unless they have something to moan about.

with all the whinging PWE and Cryptic may decide not to bother again. Personally I wouldn't blame them either.

Brandon has gone above and beyond these past two day to help and clarify everything and anything thus far regarding this gesture, and he has on occassions had to repeat himself time and time again. he must have so many lumps and bumps on his head because he must feel like he his hitting his head against a brick wall.

I didn't have to do that with the DS9 uniform, and I don't recall ever buying that....

Pretty sure it came with a lot of bundles/promotions in the past. On my account that has the red matter capacitor unlocked, I did not see the DS9 uniform as an unlock option, but I already have access to the pieces. On my other account that I mostly just use to facilitate exchanging BOFFs, I was able to unlock it by the described method.

Yay, nothing for the KDF side again. Perhaps one day Cryptic will treat both sides equally. Perhaps.
You mean tomorrow, correct? That's what is going to happen anyway. It has been said multiple times that yesterday and today were Federation ONLY. How difficult is it to understand that? The KDF has an extremely limited amount of costume choices (i.e. Two of them), whereas the Federation has upwards of 20 different costume choices.

They never stated that. It's always been Monday: Fed Uniform Tuesday: Fed Uniform Wednesday: Unknown Ship Thursday: Unknown Ship Friday: Unknown ship.

Please feel free to visit yesterday's giveaway thread. The CM mentioned it like 5 times.

thats incorrect either, in his first example, Bran stated: "If we do somethign on Monday for Fed, lets say a uniform, we will do something for KDF on tuesday."

Well. Yes and no. I believe that aligned Romulans can claim the small craft and the tier 1 through at least tier 3 craft of the faction they're aligned with. (At least, my own federation Romulans can claim the class F shuttle I unlocked.)

I understand that, I read the original post. Still doesn't mean that Cryptic isn't showing a bias toward the Federation side. Still doesn't mean that things are "fair". Someone earlier used the argument that there are more Federation players. Cryptic has stated before that they actually lose money on the KDF ships which is why they don't develop more of them. If that is the case, then it won't hurt to give away the only Klingon uniform.

What they should have done is given away the DS9 uniform along with the Klingon Academy uniform. Then today, given away a cross-faction item.

But nope, as usual, the KDF get less than the Federation does. You say that we are complaining about getting free stuff, but we aren't. We are complaining about getting nothing at all on the first two days. I would venture a guess that if they made the T3 ship on Friday be a KDF-only give away, all the Federation players would be complaining just as loudly as the KDF-only players are complaining now; and with good reason.

This whole give-away event was not thought out that well.

IMO this is sad...most people are going YAY free stuffs while myself and others are still going...wheres my stipend...answer is simple...in the free stuff...

Also, even tho im not a business major yet...I see so many flaws on a daily basis with anything that even deals with this company's policies..

I dunno...but a free giveaway should be infact not faction oriented in a faction oriented game...just saying

There are a ton of items that can and could be given instead of faction specific that people would appreciate and all members of the community could feel some of the "love"

ie inventory expansions, bank expansions, doff expansions, fleet ship modules, character slots, ship slots...dozens of items that are not given out almost bi monthly in the first place that...all members of the game could receive and infact most likely USE

costumes are a nice gesture but the high chance of people actually using them is a bit extreme, along with ships...(unless they are all escorts of course 78% *disclaimer random number I pulled outa my* chance of them infact being escorts)

I am not saying that the free giveaway was a bad idea or that it isn't appreciated by a certain % of the community but I feel this is one more example of a half attempt half though process where the ball ended up on the 1 yard line and they still declared it as a touchdown.

and this does indeed highlight the problem, but of course don't see why they cant give the academy stuff away, i mean cryptic do keep saying there are not enough klingon players to warrant making new stuff and they don't sell much of anything form them so its not like there making a loss

The bolded is the key word here... Example. That doesn't mean that that word was to be taken literally as the process for the giveaway. It's not Bran's fault nor is it Cryptic's fault that some people misconstrued his statement by thinking it was a fact.

Improve their future giveaways? More like not do any giveaways if the majority of people on this forum had your attitude.

Actually, that is the very definition of example. An example is used to show how something is going to work. I don't remember the examples in math books showing one thing and then the actual problems being completely different from what the examples were.

I am very weary of Cryptic and PWE. They have done more things wrong then they have done right. It gets to a point that outrage accumulates to a point where you just gotta get angry.

They need to stop giving garbage, and give us something that is useful to the majority of the game, and that is end game. I would rather have one day where they gave a SINGLE T5 ship, then 5 days of junk and garbage. I don't need uniforms, but everyone can use a new end-game ship for any number of reasons.

As it stands now, they are feeding us pig slop, and 95% of the people in this thread are defending the act. What is wrong with you people? You do realize that if you were to all grow a pair, and scream outrage at the JUNK they are giving for free, they would be more likely to give us something better next time around. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and you people are far too silent.

And if you wish to compare me to a kid that gets angry and tosses things around, then I will proceed to compare you to the meek little kid that gets bullied on the playground, and proceeds to say nothing about it. At least I have the backbone necessary to know how to make myself heard. You, on the other hand, take it and like it.

quite frankly if your reaction was held by all and if i was cryptic and reading this i would be thinking this is the last time i would give any gear away, i might even be thinking to end this promotion now.
thank god you are in the minority and there are many out there who are happy with whatever they get.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

You, sir or madam, are the winner of the title "Most Entitled and Juvenile STO Player in History".

Costumes have ABSOLUTELY no effect WHATSOEVER on the way the game is played. They are aesthetic only. Let me repeat that, for emphasis. AESTHETIC ONLY. In order to be considered a piece of TRIBBLE, something would have to be detrimental to the way you play the game. The DS9 uniform looks cool, in my opinion, except for the bugged pants. I wouldn't have bought it, because again, uniforms have NO EFFECT on how you play the game. The Kirk pimp tunic is cool, and I wouldn't have bought it and found out how neat it looks unless it was in, for example, a totally unexpected and generous promotion by Cryptic where they gave out account unlocks of 2 uniforms to everyone that was paying attention to anything in the forums or the main page of the game website.

The fact that you feel this is a piece of TRIBBLE says that you a) are an ungrateful child and b) don't know the first thing about business. Cryptic is a business. They make money. They aren't going to give out the desirable costumes that players like you don't consider to be a piece of TRIBBLE because that would deprive them of a substantial chunk of potential income.

As to "improving their future give-aways", I'd be VERY surprised if Cryptic EVER does anything like this again. Given the amount of whining and complaining on the forums about "unfair" and "kdf gets the shaft" and "F U CRYPTIC I HAVE THIS ALREADY I DEMAND A REFUND", I'm kind of surprised they aren't taking their ball and going home. Granted, there has been a lot of positive response, but the whiners are excruciatingly loud.

I'll say this again: For those of you who have the items already, you *paid* for the privilege of using them before the entire rest of the playerbase. If you bought them on Thursday before this giveaway was announced, I'm sorry. That's how the cookie crumbles. For those of you who are KDF only players, you chose that course. Nothing is stopping you from creating a federation character and enjoying the other side of the game. For those of you complaining about lack of Romulan stuff, see the paragraph above the paragraph above this one. For those of you who have been grateful and gracious to Cryptic, I applaud you for being the bigger man/woman/hermaphrodite/eunuch. I for one am extremely grateful no matter what the items they give out are or if I already have them.

The DS9 uniform, yesterday's freebie, included the TNG split bottom pants that have been bugged for over a month. Today's Command Tunic freebie specifically mentions that boots are included. Except that the "soft boots" have been bugged for 3+ months.

So, thanks for giving me broken items!

I agree, while I might not ever wear the tunic, it is still always nice to get free stuff. Thank you. I think people have too much of a sense of entitlement, don't look a gift horse in the mouth and just move on. It's like getting socks in Christmas, yeah, not what you wanted, but just take it and move on, instead of spending all your time ******** about how crappy of a gift it is. All in all, it is a game, for entertainment.

Janice Lester said, "Your world of starship captains doesn't admit women", as her justification for taking over Kirk's body and life. Apparently even if it was not a regulation per se, there was at least some sort of "glass ceiling" regarding command of top-line Federation ships during this era.
However, Janice Lester wasn't exactly a reliable narrator. As has been stated before, she might well have been blaming her failure to pass the psychological exams needed for command on her being a woman, when in fact it would have been because she was teetering on the ragged edge of sanity even then. Look at how she acted in Kirk's body - like a hyperfeminist's caricature of a "real man".
