Of all the days to be at a cottage with no Internet connection... >_<

Still, this is very nice. Thank you.

if you have no internet how did you leave this comment?

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

I would suggest it's best to wait until the week is over before rolling out the tears and pitchforks, but a few people have probably already suggested that by now.

So instead, I'm just going to stand here and tut loudly while rolling my eyes.

    TUT TUT TUT

    ^^This

They're doing exactly what they said they would do. They never said the gifts would be of benefit for everyone, just for accounts with an eligible character that can claim the gift. In this case, an eligible character is a Fed character that hasn't previously unlocked that costume.

    So here's what happened.

Cryptic said: "we will be giving away FREE C-Store items". "We will" meaning that they are going to fulfill this statement, "giving away free items" meaning reducing parts of their store to zero price, so players do not have to pay for the "item of the day". In essence, they promised to reduce parts of their store to zero price for players for a select amount of time (24 hours).

Then comes today. Cryptic reduces the DS9 Uniform to zero price. This causes problems for people who have already bought the uniform prior to the event. All players who are eligible have been promised a reduction of an item to zero price. In other words, for the DS9 Uniform, all Federation characters are eligible for a reduction of price to zero. However, this is not so, since select players have paid ZEN for their DS9 Uniform, thereby breaking the promise.

They receive no benefit from this free offer. It is unfair - which is acceptable, since not all things are fair. Also, no one is entitled to a refund. However, it is an act of goodwill and a pleasant gesture to acknowledge the lack of balance and apologize for misleading players into believing they will benefit from such an event.

Uhhh, Brandon, based on the posts I've read, I'm going to have to ask for confirmation:

Do we need to create a new federation character in order to claim the DS9 uniform if all our current characters have already purchased the character unlock from the Lobi store, the Cardassian lock box (back in the day), or the Exchange?

If so, will a Foundry character be able to claim it?
    voporak wrote: »
I had gotten the DS9 uniform box on my main character, then went into the c store today on that character and claimed the account unlock.

I see. Well, either way, my Foundry character was quite capable of dealing with the issue, if it ever truly existed. Until reading some of his posts in the dev tracker, I expected to claim the uniform in the same way as you did. :P

You answered your own question. They DID make an item 0 zen, and for eligible characters. Did it ever occur to you that people who already bought it are considered not eligible? Which means, then, that they fulfilled their promise because they gave away, for free, a costume pack to eligible people.
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

Sorry, the way I read this was: "Eligible Character" (meaning Fed, Klink, or Rommie), then ACCOUNT unlock for ALL in that faction - i.e. today's DS9 uniform must be claimed by a Fed, but then ALL your Feds have it. Not exactly sure how anyone has been "cheated," especially since it's only Day #1...

Come on, guys: most of us have been burned by Cryptic or, more to the point, PWE, at one point or another, but I have to say, I have NEVER heard of a typically "grab-as-much-from-them-as-you-can" company simply GIVE something away.

Show some class - if you have it, say "thanks anyway;" if you don't, just say "thanks," and NOT "thanks, but I wanted it in a different style/color/etc.!"

And of course the ungrateful pieces of **** just can't resist taking a TRIBBLE on something companies pretty much never do.

Is it that hard to think beyond ''waaaaaah i no get cryptic y u no apologize and bow at feet'' and be happy for others for a change?

Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate the attempt, and I am happy that my friends and fleetmates within the game can now share in the same uniform I have worn for quite a while now.

I don't believe I'm entitled to any sort of refund or physical compensation like others have demanded. All I ask for is a simple apology for lack of balance and misleading players/certain groups of players. That's it.

I got the DS9 outfit free when I pre ordered the game so I don't feel hard done by.
Sto never had to give anything away for free so it's a nice gesture to get the chance.
I'm not expecting top range items from this but I'm sure atleast one time this week ill find something I like.

There is no Deep Space 9 uniform in the Appearance section of the in-game c-store on any of my Federation characters. Nor is it listed anywhere else that I can find. I restarted the client, changed chars, nothing.

It doesn't show up for me either.

I know I bought the DS9 Bundle a while back, so guess when you buy the DS9 bundle, the DS9 uniform doesn't show up on the list since you already unlocked the uniform.

There are no DS9 pants. The pants used for the uniform are the TNG pants. The unlock only gives you the top part of the uniform.

I hadn't thought of that. You're correct, they did break no promise.

However, this reveals a more disturbing revelation. Cryptic only offers service that benefits a select amount of the population. This is just as lacking in fairness to all equal players.

LOL!!! wow grasping for straws there...your character is not eligible if he already purchased said item...It was known well in advance by Brandon, and Common sense that if you already had the item then you were not getting anything.... Just like when any other company puts items either on sale, or gives them for free despite people in the past paying for items.

Although I would LOVE it if you did go to stores where things you purchased have been reduced or given to free, and demand an apology to their face, because that would make a great Youtube video. :D

The way I see it, there's nothing to apologise for. If you go to a store, buy something for ?5 and come back the next day and that item is now ?3, that's not being unfair. The same thing applies here.

If people seriously expected that Cryptic were going to give them their money back because the DS9 Uniform pack was free FOR ONE DAY, they clearly have not the slightest exposure to the most basic of business practices. That is not Cryptic's fault.

So players who are KDF-only got screwed today. A Fed only outfit? Pretty lame Cryptic...pretty lame.

Cryptic needs to rethink this (Fed Only) Giveaway event. KDF only players will not like this if every day has a reward for Fed Only.

It's only day one and you whine about it.
Whiners give it a rest , you have until Friday to get atleast one item.
I mean how evil of cryptic to give the players free stuff, it's just not right is it .

That applies to everything. Everything in the C store has been bought by at least one person; therefore, anything they give away is only to a 'select amount of the population'. So if they gave away an inventory expansion, I would then be treated unfairly, according to you, because I've already bought the max amount of inventory on my main character.

I like to think of the positive - as I mentioned - the KDF has none or only 1 costume - a better spin to the thread would be to show how much support there is out there for more KDF costumes.
