Cryptic previous alluded to a character creation overhall coming with the May update, something that is conspicuously absent from the features list of Legacy of Romulus. Have they dropped this as one of their goals?
In interviews it seemed like it was mostly a UI overhaul for that, so I am thinking that falls under the general UI changes.
Ok, with the new Romulan Expansion coming we need to address the races allowed as well as new races that need to be added to each faction:
ROMULAN REPUBLIC:
Romulan: Obvious choice
Reman: Obvious choice
Hirogen: Allies of the old regime; some clans may ally with the new republic
Corvallen: Allies of the old regime; some may ally with the new republic
Boslic: The republic needs a race as business savy as the Ferengi (Feds) and Orions (KDF)
FEDERATION:
Denobulan: Way over due
Talaxian: Way over due
Ocampa: Way over due
Edosian: These tripods from the animated series may be related to the Undine, with the latter being Augments
KLINGON EMPIRE:
Chalnoth: A perfect addition to the empire
Arin'Sen: A subject race already
Krisosian: A subject race already
* CARDASSIAN UNION:
When this faction drops it should include:
Cardassian: Obvious choice
Kazon: The Kazon Seska sect would readily ally themselves to the union
Son'a: They allied with the Cardassians and the Dominion during the war by making and supplying ketracel white for them
Tarlac: A Son'a subject race
Ellora: A Son'a subject race
* MISCELLANEOUS:
1) Add hair as an option for female Bolians; the very first Bolian seen on TNG had hair
2) The Debrune: Just as the Romulans split from the Vulcans, the Debrune split form the Romulans and have since vanished. What happened to them and their empire? In Star Trek Nemesis, the spear that Nero carries is a Debrune artifact
I like these ideas. And they haven't released a list of playable races for the Romulan Republic yet, so I'm hoping to have several choces.
it says;
"Romulus and Remus are gone. You are one of the survivors, struggling to survive in the aftermath of unspeakable destruction.
These are dark and dangerous times for your people, as the Tal Shiar crack down on any dissent and mysterious beings unleash terror throughout the far-flung colony worlds.
You will be the one to reshape an empire. Gather allies, go undercover and find the proof that will rally your people to revolt.
Together, you will rise up against an oppressive regime and demand freedom. You will fight for your people.
You are the Legacy of Romulus."
Given
1) The uniform of the Romulan faction looks nothing like the RSE big shoulder look (that so '80s )
2) The new faction species are Romulan and Reman only.
3) The text you quoted.
I'd say the new Romulan faction is not reunificationist, per se. But it the factions that are united under D'Tan. The New Romulus Reputation still makes sense as you are directly supporting and building your new homeworld.
Based on the quoted preview text. it seems we will be taking up the story at the post Taris escape from captivity. We'll being dealing with the Tal Shiar and RSE forces, helping the other colony worlds and trying to get them to ally with Mol'Rihan. Go undercover inside of the RSE to investigate the destruction of Romulus and Remus from the inside. Gather evidence will cause the RSE populus to revolt against Sela.
As long as it's not klingon specific, as has been in quite a few past episodes.
Quite terrible for me as a gorn to have to put up with all this "Qapla!" TRIBBLE.
The arcs should more pertain to the Imperial Empire as a whole, not just cling-ons.
Klingons conquer, they don't incorporate. Say "Qapla!" or die.

The Denobulans are no longer a space faring race. After they were targeted in the Earth-Romulan war, they cut all ties to outside worlds, and now live in isolation. This was covered in the History of the Federation: The First 150 years. (A really good book btw)

I see this, and my first reaction is Meh. This game has been launched for over 3 years, and we still don't have a completed equal KDF faction. With the addition of romulans, I don't think that will ever happen. The most I see them doing is adding for KDF is a tutorial and then just re-leveling all the other content. Its very sad. If I'm wrong then great, I'll gladly be wrong, but I'm just going by the track record. And if anyone thinks they'll do a better job with the Romulans, You're probably right. It wouldn't surprise me if the next big update is more Romulan improvements, while the KDF still sits in it's sub-faction status.
This is so awesome. I'm glad I saved my additional new character slot for the Romulan. I will be all into that. So I have all 3 going. Looking forward to be in a Warbird or BOP. Looking forward to see the new missions on my KDF. Even though I'm at highest level, I hope to replay them to see what they added, or see new gear they have for rewards.

The KDF is getting a lot of love as well. It wouldn't surprise me if they have 20 lvls of content, dealing with battling the Romulans.

Much as I love KDF content, I don't know that we need 20 levels for the Romulans (though really a real romulan arc, not an FE is long over due). Plus I would love to see them expand on some of the other stories they have. Like the House Battles.
So I'm under the impression that this is going to be free will just be another fraction of what we already have the Klingons and the Federation and now we have the Romulans cool I can do a Romulan to:D

IF they do I will retract half of my statment. But I havn't seen anything other than hearing in interviews "KDF are getting some love". And I'm sorry, but I've heard that for 3 years and all we've gotten is Alpha and some bi-faction stuff that doesn't count IMO.

Unfortunately, that really good book is not canon. And STO already has a Denobulan character: Captain Taggart, the original captain of your first Fed ship.
"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone
When are there going to be more hair styles...
the ones at the moment are so.... last century.... this is the 25th century... with the uniform code of 2389, allowing the use of any uniform, you think we can have slightly wilder hairstyles?
the homepage of the site currently shows federation female and romulan remale officers with very wild wavy hairstlyes...
can we get a few more addons to the character creator...a few more hairstyles for guys too... like.... the ones in other perfect world games... they are still tidy and i'm sure they'd come under the uniform code
Please take time to think and look into this cryptic/perfect world

Weren't the Denobulans also an early member of the Federation? Which post-dates the Earth-Romulan War?
So if The Denobulan isolation is canon. It didn't last very long. :P
Loving the excitement! I also know you all have a lot of questions -- I've opened up the Ask Cryptic thread in the FNN so you can ask them there for a chance to get answered by dStahl in the upcoming Ask Cryptic. We also have a TON of dev blogs planned -- you should start to see those in the next couple of weeks. Legacy of Romulus is going to be epic!
While I appreciate that some KDF veterans will have guarded responses to this, I'm intrigued by - and rather hopeful for - how this will improve our gaming community.
Hmmm...the original series USS Enterprise came to us by way of pre-order and later the C-Store. The NX-Replica is C-store. The original series Klingon D-7 is free for KDF Commander's. So it's anyone's guess how the original series Bird-of-Prey will become available to player's. But I want one. Badly. Should it be our starter/tutorial ship for the Romulan faction, I won't be disappointed.
As for Sela returning as a regular protagonist? Bring it on.

Going by Memory-Alpha, the next 4 ranks would probably be Lieutenant, Centurion, Subcommander, then Commander.

I would like to see the Stormbird who looks like K'tinga or D7 to be playable. Like the episode from the TOS - Enterprise Incident.

Yeah, I can't wait to get a Mogai. Birds of prey are cool , but Mogai is plain better.
That's been up for a few months now. It's a MkII Quantum Torpedo launcher for new players.

Now all we need is to be able to have a crooked fed / kdf captain by switching factions :P
