I'm a bit confused about one aspect of the expansion. Are we taking on the role of Romulans who are loyal to the Empire or New Romulus? I figured it was New Romulus as they called it the Romulan Republic, but I can't recall seeing that term before in the game.

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone
So it's only logical that Romulan will go science.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
All I have to say is well done Devs. This has been a long time coming, and it's paid off. Trek's three core factions are all playable (or at least, they will be) and I wanted nothing more (at least in terms of factions) from STO since I started playing. You've just fulfilled that for me.
Like I've said, congratulations for finally getting this to us. I can't believe there are still some people who are unimpressed, but I guess there's no pleasing some people.
It's an eye-catcher though and this increases the odds of it being spotted/answered by the devs.

Before asking supid questions for the umpteenth time, i.e, how much will it cost? Will KDF players stop moaning?* Will I be able to do X,Y or Z? PLEASE read the news article followed by any OFFICIAL replies to this thread.
If you can't see the answer within ten mnutes of taking this advice, then why not wait and see what news is released between now and May.
Devs. Awesome job! I eagerly await even more details as and when you get round to releasing the information.
*Trick question.
***The above ramblings are, as always, my own opinion. Based on my experiences and interpreted by my mind, they by no means reflect the universal truth (unless coincidentally). Peace.***

Unfortunately, that really good book is not canon. And STO already has a Denobulan character: Captain Taggart, the original captain of your first Fed ship.
The book is canon, it was written by David Goodman (Who was one of the writers on Enterprise), and covers the Arc that would have been season 5-7 of Enterprise, if it was funded. Other than the Earth Romulan war, the book covered the events of first contact, Enterprise, and TOS.
It was co-published by CBS studios, and Paramount, and was requested by CBS to begin with. It was written by one of the writers of Enterprise, and was based on the season 5-7 notes of enterprise, and acknowledged Rick Berman, for helping the book.
So in closing, the book is canon. STO can write the Denobulans back into the series, but at the time of TOS, they were isolated, and not spacefaring.
This is one of the only books to be considered canon, but it is.

Hope this means the KDF gets original content as do the Romulans. In the past cross-faction content was all we got, which was rubbish. I won't go into how un-Klingon the Dominion missions are.
Now that there appears to be three factions can you give each faction the uniqueness and equality they all deserve?
Support the Game by Supporting the KDF, equality and uniqueness for all factions!
Weren't the Denobulans also an early member of the Federation? Which post-dates the Earth-Romulan War?
So if The Denobulan isolation is canon. It didn't last very long. :P
Your right, I had to reread that part of the book. The Romulan incident was a catalyst to their isolation, but the straw that broke the camels back was a Denobulan freighter being destroyed by the Klingons, for being associated with Humans. This happened after the founding of the federation.
"One of Earth's oldest allies, Denobula had considered joining the Federation for many years. However this act of hostility caused the Denobulans- already scared from the Romulan War- to withdraw from galactic affairs."

All of this fanfare over absolutely nothing except something that looks awesome to most of the player base. Once again, Craptic/Imperfect World (see what I did, there?) completely drops the ball on the only things that really matter:
Still no playable tribble faction? Once again, non-humanoids get the shaft.
Still no wizard class? Not everyone who plays Star Trek Online cares for sci-fi, you know.
Still no Baywatch-themed costume set? I have been asking for this since STO first opened; how many more times do I have to ask?
Still no fix to my MK XII Darmok set? It's supposed to give me +3 on my saving throws vs. wands, staves, and rods, but I'm only getting +2, and instead of fixing this, you spend your time on a triviality like a new Romulan faction.
Still just free to play, instead of having the devs write out checks to us each month? Oh yeah, I forgot, all Craptic/Imperfect World (see what I did, there?) cares about is profit.
I'm through with this game, and by "through with it," I mean that I will continue playing it just as much as before, if not more.

Norexum is better

I thought Mogai and Norexum were the same thing?

D'DERIDEX!!! D'DERIDEX!!! D'DERIDEX!!!
This means that we're going to have a PvP cross-faction queue?
The new changes to the UI are great too.

They are. Donatra's ships have been called both. But it's was wasn't ...um. It was Norexan Class. And been called the Valdore Class.
Let the horizons run white, and shadows turn light.
Yeah, it doesn't launch till May.

Are those the things that worship that ball of fire in the blue thing over my house.

We will see....
The expansion will be free, And i doubt they will ever make content buyable, PW is kind of against that.
