Yes. Please distribute needles so we may dispose of these balloons that have so auspiciously taken over the Station.

Yes. I took mine down to the lower level of ESD and fired it off for a couple of minutes then put it in my bank inventory. I wish they would at least make the balloons transparent so you can see where you are going while people are going crazy with those things.

Seriously? When did you start playing this game? They release a new one every year... this will be my 3rd party popper... And during the past year... how many times where you annoyed by the year one and two party poppers? Like none.... go be a cry baby elsewhere....

I proudly blasted mine in the face of anyone I could find for days... then went back to having fun with my fleeties...

Balloon lifespan needs reduced by an order of ten.

It's a fantastic little toy and I love playing with them but you get more than three people in one room and it's going to look like everyone just bowled a perfect game. Making them pop faster is really all you need to do to fix it, so long as they linger long enough to kick them around a minute first.

Just make them enemies we can target. That would be fun.

This would be good, I was disappointed they weren't already.

Then look no further than this solution!

    Go to Options ---> Video

Scroll down to Max Physics Debris Objects

Slide the slider all the way to the left and BOOM!

No more balloons reducing your framerate to the equivalent of Tribble droppings.

Yes, but the difference between this current party popper and the ones from previous years is that the balloons get in the way a whole lot more and stick around for too long.

These actually seem to be causing a decent amount of lag for me, when too many are deployed around my character. It would be nice to shorten the life-span of them a bit, for that reason. I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing the same thing..

    Let's see ... :
"no beachwear because then there'd be a bunch of yahoos running around them in ESD." (Cpt. Geko)

And then now : giant baloons that fill up Drozana so you can't see literally anything .

    Wow , just ... wow .

Cryptic's priorities once again manage to boggle the mind ... .

    * oh and to the dude who compared previous party poppers to this one ... , look at the size of the Tribbles , and now look at the size of the baloons . Have fun trolln' . :o

    Immersion ... ?
Tell me about immersion ... ???

Ye gods YES. The amount of lag they can cause in a confined space will bring the game to a halt, and I call that a tool of griefing. Happened to me at K7 last night. The exchange/bank room was so full of those stupid balloons that the game froze up on me. Tried to change instances, but "no possiblemaps."

How about you just not spam up the starbase with the stupid balloons? My graphics settings run the game just fine in every other setting.

The lag when you get too many in one place is really the only issue I have. After a point even a recent graphics card will start having issues. I have a decent card (GTX 550ti), but when a buddy and I were going bananas at each other in Club 47 it brought both our GPUs to their knees. I play on max settings, granted, but I weep for the people on lower end GPUs. Telling people they have to crank their graphics down just to enter a social zone and drop loot is a little ridiculous. Having them pop faster would mitigate that.

What a bunch of bitter people.

Free stuff and people are complaining. If you want an antisocial game, go find another.

I'll keep blowing balloons for the lulz until I get sick of it. ;)

This is the best year yet with those things. I hope they don't change them like they did the thermal dampeners from the breen series. I think going crazy with those things would be fun on a more open zone anyway though. I'm going to start launching balloons off the mountain on risa. Tribbles too if I can remember what popper that was.

Exactly. I love the thing and think it's creative and crazy fun. Awesome job, devs.

Maybe there's a setting where I can disable just those animations without losing anything else. I'll check when I get home.

If there is no such setting, there should be.

I really do love this popper, but we've reached a point where something needs to be done to control the amount of festive effects that can bombard player's screens at a time.

A "disable festive effects" filter, I imagine, shouldn't be too hard to implement. Basically flag all the popper animations as a festive effect, then have a checkbox to disable those under the options menu. You'll see people use poppers, but no animations or objects from those poppers will be seen or heard from your end.

Considering the framerate drop massive amounts of these balloons tend to produce (even though they all despawn after a certain number of them are generated on the map at any time), it's about time we get a festive effect filter into the game.

Sorry, it's not "fun" for me when I'm trying to dump my inventory on the exchange and my screen locks up due to 50,000 balloons clogging up the zone.

so go the the other stations there 3 stations you can go to with so many instances it will stop just like the breen just like the tribbles just don't log in then until event over really people are having fun or lower your graphics until the party is over

Yes, I am also having lag problems when I get around too many of those balloons.

    I love my balloon gun!

However, as others have said, I would also enjoy the ability to target and destroy them with ground combat weapons.

But then again, what do you think would be worse?
    100 people shooting balloons everywhere
    or
100 people shooting balloons everywhere while another 100 people are shooting phasers at the balloons

    Spacedock would be pure chaos.

I just wonder why they can be so big. You walk into ESD and it's like an ocean in there....

Balloon Tsunamis are apparently a thing now.
