It really pisses me off that first cryptic screws over the Galaxy with the MUCH older Excelsior and now they TRIBBLE it over more with an old Ambassador. WTF is up with that?

The complaint about this new ship being superior to a newer more advanced ship is a legit one. You don't like reading the complaints then stop reading them.

I can't believe how many people are complaining about something that's free and the only effort to get it is playing a new mission. Save your complaints for something that warrants it, then maybe it'll be taken seriously.

The ship that's nearly a century out of date outclasses most cruisers that came after it, that's not a valid complaint?

Also, the ship is ugly and mediocre. Its ok for a free ship, but anyone serious about cruisers will already have or be looking to getting one of the superior ships. The time spent designing this monstrosity could have been spent adding real content or fixing any one of countless bugs.

It's a FREE ship you get for playing a NEW mission created for the event. If you don't like it, don't use it and stop reading the positive comments.

And, I hate soup anyway! :P

I'm excited. The LTCMDR Science options are very appealing. For a free, classic TNG-era ship, this is awesome. I'm also really looking forward to the mission to get these beauties.

With regards to the Ambassador's stats... Cryptic was between a rock and a hard place here. There's not a lot of wiggle room between having an obsolete ship from the 2340s and an updated old warhorse that still has a little spring in its step. I personally wouldn't want it to be any more powerful than it currently is.

While I'm excited for this ship, it does make me a little bit sad for the (seemingly inferior by STO standards) Galaxy class and the (roughly equivalent by STO standards) Sovereign. By Trek universe logic, both of those ship classes would easily outclass the Ambassador. Don't get me started on the Excelsior. I suppose that's one of the hazards of an MMO.

It seems alright, however unless there's a C-Store version and/or Fleet version the Excelsior is going to be a better choice.

    +2 - I concur!

Not to mention that less than a month ago they gave also a free Breen Chel Grett, with all it's awesomeness, 10 consoles and special console.

Besides, these ships are not bad, they seem quite stable especially for a gift ship and imo have a very good Boff layout. If a player likes playing them and makes a dedicated build for the ships I think they'll preform nicely, especially the Kamarag.

Both of those ships are recent retrofits. Learn to read.

Age usually bears no relevance to ship capabilities in STO, because most ships at Tier 5 are retrofits, refits, fleet retrofits, ...
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class.
Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
    Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!

I don't doubt that support is much valued in PvP. However, the way STO designs its PvE, everything goes super awesome if all participants are geared for maximum DPS. A cruiser with a turn rate of 7 can't do this very well.

What a shame, the kamarag is one of the best looking KDF ships to come from Crypric in a while but utterly useless to anyone but the healboat drivers.

Can I simply have the skin for my breen cruiser ?

It's not bad, compared to the Heavy Cruiser Retrofit. Basically it's got more Sci ability and a slightly larger hull and it turns a point slower. Compared to the Galaxy Retrofit though, If I follow Cryptic logic the Galaxy should have 40K hull instead of 39K since it is slower.

Poor Galaxy gets the shaft on that one. :( Only thing the Galaxy has going for it is the 1000 crew.

Why do you say that? A turn of 10.5 and likely being able to use DHCs (Cryptic is notorious for not getting stats right in the initial post) means this will be a different flavor Vor'Cha, which is an awesome ship.

I must be doing something wrong, my engie kicks more butt in a raptor (and lives longer) than a cruiser , so I can't even use this new ship without a major modification in his specs and my playstyle.

I won't even consider this ship for my TAC.

    Yes, disappointed.

I've updated the blog to note that the T3 and T5 version of the Kamarag can equip cannons (dual and dual heavy, of course) :)

Then enjoy your free ship and stop reading the negative comments.

It saddens me to see the reactions of a certain element. Their selfish complaints should not overshadow the joy many of us are feeling that Cryptic are finally filling what has long been the most glaring gap in the lineup of iconic vessels this game features.

I would have settled for more free Q photos instead....another useless ship...what is free? what the heck....for those who loved the Ambassador...what were you thinking? Another ship (cruiser Dreadnought) that looks like an upside down vacuum cleaner... and slow as a snail in space

It's a shame the Klingons didn't have more of these ships at Narendra III... can't see how an Ambassador class ship with those stats would've been any help at all.... except as a distraction for the Romulan disruptors...

I'm waiting to see what the probable C-Store version(s) look like. There was a comment from DStahl in an interview released yesterday about the Ambassador class having lots of phaser firepower. The free version while decent for what it is, does not seem to support that comment.

I would suggest that you target your complaints on why the Galaxy is so poorly represented, rather than dumping on the Ambassador.

Where does 'lots of phaser firepower' come into play on the Ambassador?

I'm thinking I just might switch my KDF science officer from the BoP to this one. Cool looking ship.

That it can mount on more (rear) weapon than an escort. Cryptic explains things in one fashion, but stats them in another.

You're wasting your breath on these people.

Most of them seem totally oblivious that militaries refitting old ships with new technology to bring them up to date is a totally normal thing.

I love the Ambassador class. Not this representation of it though.
